It’s like the name of the song, “Verbatim” I like to assume the name comes from how old gender stereotypes are and that they still manage to be on repeat. So- why do you keep saying you love how gay this song is? This song isn’t about being gay, it’s about how your behaviors don’t determine your sexuality? Ok, the first time I listened to this song a while back I was pretty sure it was about how gender stereotypes don’t define your sexual preferences. Lines like these-
“I cross my legs just like a queer, but my labido is strong when a lady is near” that’s pretty easy to interpret as him being attracted to women despite doing feline things lol.
“What defines a straight man straight?” That kind of states it in itself, the purpose of the song is to show that eating a box of nails for breakfast before going to shoot your rifle outside doesn’t make you anymore straight than the guy painting his nails to your left.
“I’m the boxer in the briefs, I’m the twelve ounce steak” previously in the song, the lyrics “What defines a straight man's straight?
Is it the boxer in the brief or a twelve ounce steak?” can be heard in the song. From this we can confirm he is saying he is straight just doesn’t conform to gender stereotypes. It’s like the name of the song, “Verbatim” I like to assume the name comes from how old gender stereotypes are and that they still manage to be on repeat. So- why do you keep saying you love how gay this song is? This song isn’t about being gay, it’s about how your behaviors don’t determine your sexuality? I guess you can interpret this song as you will, but, I’m a huge mother mother fan and I’m not going to lie I find it kind of disrespectful to the artist to make a complete 180 on the meaning of this amazing song.

Saying that this is the gayest way of saying you're straight means the song is acting gay, so people are letting the lyrics define sexuality, which gives a prime example of what the song is explaining against.
As someone who does this type of jokes all the time, I have to say that it's not about the lyrics, it's just the song in general. Mother Mother, Cavetown, Girl in red, Lemon Demon, IDKHBTFM, and all the others just have something in their music that attracts lgbtq+ people, and this song have a lot that something. When we say that this is the gayest way to say that you are straight, we are just joking about the fact that it is "so gay", but also is talking about being straight.
