- Gay journalist, Frank Johnston sets out to write an expose on Dr. Apsey, a therapist who claims to convert gays to straight. Enlisted by his psychotherapist boyfriend, Jonathan, Frank finds that Apsey may not necessarily be a quack, after all. The reason for Frank's seeing Apsey becomes blurred is it for the article or for personal reasons? As Frank falls under Apsey's spell, his relationship with Jonathan deteriorates, and a fierce psychological tug of war erupts between the two persuasive doctors over the heart of mind of Frank. Frank must make decisions that eventually explode the lives of all of them.

A powerful movie with three brilliant acting talents. Be who you are and don't ever try to change that! As a 75 year old, I wish I had listened to my own advice 50 years ago.....
The script, the acting... all of it, BRILLIANT ! !
A very intelligent movie. The writing is amazing. The actors are great.
Brilliantly done 👍 (That doesn't mean I agree or disagree with any character.)
I didn't much care for these characters with their conflicting, exhausting agendas, yet I couldn't stop watching their story.
Scripted with formidable insight, masterfully adapted from stage to screen, impeccably acted, beautifully filmed. Much to learn. Not sure whether Frank 'falls under Apsey's spell' (as per description above). Personal thought: Dr Apsey opens Frank's mind to philosophical considerations. Jonathan uses domination. The film welcomes the viewer to draw their own conclusions.
I feel sorry for Frank, even though this thing led to him becoming more mature and even speaking up for himself at the end. He is extremely vulnerable and I think he might somehow have developed a co-dependence on Jonathan. I would expected Frank to move on to another man who would not use - manipulate - abuse him for his own vendetta, not with the damage for the psyche this could involve.
Well, I wasn’t expecting that. Very interesting and thought provoking film. This one’s going to percolate for a while. It was good to watch an intelligent discussion of primal forces that drive the lives of some men.
10/10 absolutely LOVED this.
Interesting take on absolutism. If being gay is so traumatic for some do they have a right to search for an alternative? Is sexuality set? Is therapy toward that goal hopeless or bunk? Or do the therapists simply have agendas of their own? Great rendition of people walking that tightrope. Recommended.
GREAT MOVIE....WITH AN EXTRAORDINARY ACTOR IN A VERY DIFFICULT ROL....
Lower the caps and stop being so rude.
The only reason why I was going to give up watching this, was because of the video quailty. However, I took into consideration this film was recorded year 2002. I enjoyed it. This would be great re-made in HD.
This movie is superb, one of the best I've ever seen!
I read through the comment section and saw some amazing comments about this spectacluar movie!

Confusing with no form of clarity
Wow!! Such an excellent film!!!
Compelling, well done in every way. Excellent actors.
Remarkable script and performances
Can the word "enjoy" be used? Well, I did. 10-Q! I am going to remember the lessons. Painfully good.
I remain respectfully serene, Sir Neil.
Substance. Rare. They did each seem to be grinding their own axes, ultimately only taking care of themselves, but giving off sparks of good insights. And intentions, self-deceiving or...not?
Wow very good
