I know! I needed it a few nights ago, and no cover will satisfy... I apparently just lost my official audio Lonesome Dove, that's another one no cover can justify... His voice is special.
Garth Brooks doesn't seem to like his songs being anywhere that he doesn't officially allow, as he thinks the entire album is important because often there are songs that weren't released as singles that touch people more, like this or Face to Face. He chose Amazon Music for all his music as far as streaming is concerned, so it's the best place to get all of his songs if you want them digitally. Very hard to get his music through videos even on TH-cam as he or his team seem to actively get uploads of his songs removed. Not a move I'm a fan of, but it's his music so he has the right to choose.
Took a family on vacation Year before last in Sept. to Ireland. We bought tickets the year before on Thanksgiving day to see him there. Fortune would have it that I had done lots of work for an Irishfamily here in the states and they surprised us with yet more tickets to see him that same week in Ireland. We saw his first and last concert there over our 10 days. The absolute best vacation Ive ever had in my 61 years and my family now has it as a core memory for life. Garth was simply amazing and the Irish people love him as their own. The Irish people are the actual jewel of the country. Thank you Thank you Thank you. If you've never been there go book a trip right now.
Oh my gosh this is LITERALLY one of my favorite songs on earth and it is NOWHERE else on the internet. You have to have had the CD when it came out or seen it on like Napster. BLESS YOU FOR UPLOADING THIS.
The main reason I know of this song is because I have Sirius XM, and they play it on the Prime Country channel. I'm glad I got Sirius XM, because it helped me rediscover the music I grew up on
A song about the mind’s struggle towards enlightenment woven into imagery of the earthly human struggle. Brilliantly crafted and executed from the humming lead in to the eventual break through.
The one and only , Garth Brooks , I'm Andrea from the high up mountains near St .Moritz , my " pap'ap had 25 horses and I cold ride before I started walking ! He was my one and only grandpa , later in the early '90ties I heard Garth the first time, while living for 3 years in the states ! I even trained my two own horses with the music from Garth Brooks ! I had a stallion not really easy ' cause he was born wild ! But with the song unanswered prayers , even "Cody " became a very trustful friend to me !!! Whenever , you , Garth Brooks , might ever come back to Switzerland, I'll be in the first row screaming like a teenager up to you !!! Very kind regards from Switzerland ! Forever yours , Andrea ( once called the crazy Swiss girl ! Your songs just make everyday my world !
I absolutely love this song as a Irish desend into this country of America. And the fact that he performed this song in my home town of South Bend Indiana at Notre Dame stadium is amazing.
I only starting listening to this song about half a year ago, and it feels like it’s speaking to me man. I’m planning in enlisting when I’m through with school and I will definitely be thinking of this song during my tough spots.
@@River_Tray_Neo I feel like the country attire would fair better than war-type since the song is about citizens forced from their homes to be soldiers, and finally being able to return home
i remember when this album came out and it wasnt 1 year after I ran across this song and I loved it and listened to it on repeat until I was able to sing the song along with Garth
Love all your songs. But IRELAND was the first I heard. Know it by heart... ❤ and it still touches me and always will. I am so happy found it here after all those years. Good to have the CD 😀
THIS is fucking amazing....i serached this song years ago, and coulnt even find lyrics for it....I owned a casset tape years a go and this was a secret song, and honestly the fucking best.
Reminds me of my Irish Pop-Pop and Grammy both born in Gort, County Galway! I've never heard this song before but I'm sure it would have meant a great deal to both of them. Miss their hearts and love and especially their beautiful Irish brogue. 💚💚
I'm so glad you like this song. My dad showed it to me, although he's passed now. It's a memory that I'm very fond of. So this song is very near and dear to my heart.
@@River_Tray_Neo my husband and I took a 12-day trip to Ireland in 2002. I had hired a driver thru our hotel to take us to Gort. We met nephews, nieces and cousins of both of them. Visited the small country church where they were baptized. I could never express the joy I felt on this trip!
"There are no words to be spoken, just a look to say goodbye." That line gets to me every time! Not sure about the backstory of this song. I figure it is one about the poor "Micks" (forgive my political incorrectness, but it is relevant to an integral part of the thinking during the time period) that found themselves as unwilling participants in part of the Civil War (North and/or South). They came to America looking for something better than they had and ended up wishing they were back on their emerald isle. Rest in peace, my ancestral Irish brothers.
I believe it’s loosely inspired by the charge of the light brigade during the Crimean War, there were Irish soldiers in that battle. A battle that has inspired poetry movies and another great song by iron maiden called “the trooper” However many things that were true in that battle are true in many others, and it’s only loosely inspired by it.
The greatest and most feared unit in the Union Army was the Irish Brigade, the Easy Company of its day. The world has long known, if you need fighting done, you send the Irish.
Why is this song so hard to find, it touches my heart

So hauntingly beautiful. Garth Brooks is an absolute master!
Ty Father 4 hs garth brooks bless him lord
Garth and his songwriters. I agree though. Yeah he had people write his music for him, but his voice is unlike anything else I've ever heard

Absolute menace with 2 spaces per word
One of my favorites ❤️☘️
A bit of Irish love and sad history woven together. Many an Irishman has died in another man's war.
💯
I have always felt close to my Irish ancestors. My paternal great grandparents from County Cork and maternal great grandparents were Irish and Welsh.
One of the saddest songs i have ever loved, it portrays a sense of victory even in the face of futility and obvious defeat.
I absolutely love this song as a Irish desend into this country of America. And the fact that he performed this song in my home town of South Bend Indiana at Notre Dame stadium is amazing.
Absolutely beautiful💜🎵🎶🎵

I want to personally thank you for posting this, even though your account will probably be removed. I will enjoy it while I can. 😅❤
Love this song love that you got away with posting it!!!! BEAUTIFUL SONG big part of my childhood
Only place I could find it on steam is Amazon music so glad it's posted here hopefully it doesn't get pulled
So, speaking hypothetically, if one were to preform this song what would you suggest be worn? War-type attire or country attire?
Like, to set the scene of the song and be visual to express what’s going on

Irish soldiers who left to serve in continental European armies in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries
