100%! Sometimes people act like cats using their claws is bad behaviour, but sometimes it’s the only way they can communicate!
My cat fell behind a corner cabinet thing once, she tried to climb out but kept slipping and then got stuck upside down. It was too heavy to move so I had to roll down my sleeves, reach in, and grab her. Obviously she was scared and trying to grip onto anything she could so when she felt my arm she dug her claws in DEEP 😅 I was wincing and bleeding and just repeating “It’s ok, I understand” 😂
Yup Ive been scratched on the neck by my cat because i had to bathe her. She dug up dirt from my spider plant that was indoors due to the extreme heat at the time, and then she ROLLED in it. I was sensitive to the dirt when I cleaned it up, so I had to bathe my cat so she wouldn't track the dirt throughout the apartment. I forgot to clip her nails beforehand, and she tried to climb up my neck.
I had a similar conversation with my vet after my cat panicked during a checkup and attached to my head like a furry face hugger. I was more worried about how to get her arthritic paws unhooked from my skin without scaring her even more, than what damage she might have done to me. Which was not trivial, do not underestimate house cats
absolutely agree with you, i am glad at least some people have real brain and understand cats have no other way to communicate...
She has just become my favorite actress!
It's the 'what would my mom do?' that gets me.
If you watch her channel, she calls her mom regularly for advice on recipes and preparation
I'm just going to put this out there and so glad she rescued this kitty too. Don't bath your cat or dog in your kitchen sink yuck, why not in the laundry room where you probably should have a sink, if not the bathroom.

I have never related to a celebrity more...washing a poopy floofy cat butt while dry heaving and getting beat up in the process. 😂
Yeah I had a long haired white Himalayan flame point w/blue eyes. I bathed her every sat till she turned 15 yr, then every 2 - 3 wks as she was much older & her joints didn't work as easy. Then had to put her down as she lost all control of bladder & bowels at 23 yrs of age. She was in so much pain. She began yelling out even moving her so gently. Vet said it was time. It was like losing my child. 😭😢😭😢😭 I so wish she was still here but in better shape to run & play as before.

one thing that helped with my old cat when I needed to give him medical baths is to have a denim jacket, it gave him something secure to clutch onto that wasn't my skin.

The other night I said to myself “come on, mom” (speaking to my inner mature woman) while having to clip my baby’s toenails then give her medication
She sings to him….. I LOVE HER WHOLE SOUL♥️
She could have easily taken Moose to a groomer to take care of the matting -- without blood being drawn (which is what most celebrities probably do).
However, she didn't!
She treated Moose just like one of her human babies, and I'm so here for it. 😊
She seems like a truly sweet human
My son's cat was a barely weaned kitten when a friend found the poor thing in a bank parking lot late at night. Kitten still had the milk poo going on, plus the intestinal worms that cause diarrhea. My son gently bathed him a couple times a day after each BM. So as soon as little kitten grew big enough to jump, he naturally started jumping into the shower with my son. He loves water to this day.
I had a little black kitten pop up on my porch. Of course I took her in. Her hair started coming out one day and then my whole body broke out in the itchiest rash you have ever felt. Turns out we both had mange mites. She was so little I couldn't put harsh chemicals on her so I bathed her everyday until one day it seemed like it was actually working and until the day she passed away that cat loved water. She would sit in the shower with me, she would drink from the faucet, play in the faucet, and sit on my back and watch while I bathed the dog. 😂
When I found my black and white cat, he had so much red dirt in his fur I thought he was a calico. He cleaned up to be brilliant white and jet black, but cuz he was a tiny kitten, and I had to bath him frequently too. Once he became adolescent , I never took a bath or shower alone again! He liked the rain, he had his own towel. He even had his own bath toys. He was such a loving cat.
My tuxedo scared the crap outta me and made me nearly create a door in the shower wall! Home alone, I decided to take a shower. Joyfully washing my hair when I feel something tentacle-like wrap around my knee. I’ll admit, I’ve watched too much anime and hentai. After I quit climbing the wall, I looked to see my boy totally drenched, just enjoying walking around in the shower while his human freaks out. He’d never done that before! Before he’d always watch from the counter or toilet lid, never from inside the shower! After that he’d always take a bath with me. I got used to the tail around my knee eventually.
Yep it's all about exposure while they are young, if you give them a calm relaxing experience while young they will love water. my mom has a cat that will swim in the bathtub if my daughter doesn't get in her bath fast enough XD we have to worry about the pups joining too. My mom takes full advantage of the dogs getting in the shower with her and gives them a bath every time. I also know when I hear my mom to grab a towel and be ready that there wet dogs coming my way XD

I wish that ALL pet parents would be as understanding and respectful of their pets like Jenn was!! I especially loved how she wasn't mad at her cat for scratching her nor did she blame him!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Holding your cat under a running tap is not exactly respectful... She could have just used a bucket with luke warm water

So true, my cat scratched me once badly but it was an accident, he got spooked by a loud noise while I was holding him and cut my hand.
Jennifer needed to Google how to bath a cat safely. Starting with filling up the sink first with tepid water, tying the leash to the faucet firmly and not being afraid to hold them by the scruff of the neck.
@@kristinedoty7876 Good tips. I always hold by the scruff on the rare occasion they need a bath and, very important, trim the claws first.

I'm having to also trim my gent. He wasn't too thrilled about it, but I'm not gonna have stinky poppy tooshi. It also gonna get hot soon, I'm also thinking of timing the rest to keep him cool.
@@kasugaifox8571 I actually considered doing my cat as well bc I was so worried ab her getting too hot. I felt guilty putting on shorts every time I looked at her, but I read up on it before. It turns out they're designed the way they are for a reason. They have different layers of fur, and believe it or not, it actually helps them stay cool as well as warm. Do your own research, of course. You know what's best for your baby. Just something to consider.
@@ashleecantu6470the thing is: they are designed... by humans. We bred them to have this fur because WE liked it so much. Norwegian and Siberuans are the exception, but they are also adapted to a climate similar to Alaska.
The fur does NOT keep them cool That said: Trimming it isn't a good idea either unless it is matted. Better help them shed their undercoat by brushing with a specialised brush and provide them with cool spots to lay down and cool of. Maybe you can teach them even to enjoy water to cool of.

Shout out to Jen and can relate to the painful scratches,😬 but do this out of love!😊 I went through similar routine with CC my Maine Coon when he was 14. I didn't wash him, but had to use my Ove Gloves and pet wet wipes to wipe his butt...when things went awry. Also had to clip clumps of fur when he started having trouble grooming. At one point he had clumps on his belly...and had to take him to the vet, they shaved his belly and said "He won't win any beauty contests." I said "Doesn't matter as ling as he's comfortable." He lived to be 18.❤
I did the same with my Maine Coon, Charlie. He was very young and the change in environment and food had an "effect" on him. Except I got naked, and me and him went into an enclosed shower cubical. He loved being wrapped in a warm towel and being nursed. I miss him so much, he looked so much like Jen's cat ❤
I have a Ragdoll and I have had to clip his butt hair 😅.

I had a cat who looked almost exactly like this. He also had rear-end issues, and in the end he lost the use of his back legs. Cleaning and caring for him wasn't easy, but that's just what love is: exhausting, back-breaking, and sometimes disgusting work that you're willing to do anyway.
Did you shave the back end to make his cleaning easier in later years?
@@evilsharkey8954that’s what I wondered? Long haired kitties and pups need what is called a hygiene shave for sanitary reasons. My groomer calls it a “face, feet and fanny” cut.

The few times my late cat needed a bath she would, sopping wet, climb and scurry to my shoulder/back and cling into my skin for dear life. She was such a lump of love. Even when i was the reason she was scared and miserable she just wanted to crawl under my chin for safety. Gone too soon, i miss her so much.

There's regular Moms that wear jeans, play outside in the dirt with the kids and wash the pets...and there's High Maintenance Moms....who are high maintenance. They go shopping, get weekly mani-pedi's and have cocktail lunches with their friendgirls. We know what category Jenn is in. I love Jennifer Lopez as an actress. But the two of them are as different as night and day. If I were a man, I would go for the down to earth Jennifer.

Try keeping fur trimmed around bum area and up an inch or two on tail. Kitty's and your life will be much easier! No more little attachments when they leave litter box. Lol🐈🐈🐈🐈⬛

Ohhh, could I laugh while commiserating any more?! (We did a “sanitary shave,” as they call it, on our very old long-haired cat because of just this. His paw pads too, after he walked on a pee clump in his box which became like cement. Luckily he was sooo tolerant being in my lap while I took warm water and a washcloth to remove the litter. Then we had to find non-clumping, scent free clay litter. RIP sweet Luka.)

I had a girl kitty that looks like Moose. Gooey bum was murder to deal with. We finally just kept her bottom and back feathers trimmed up so the poops didn’t get caught in them.

I tried that with my floaf, but my clippers don’t cut her fluffy fur, and nobody in my area does affordable sanitary trims.

Me? I always do a very important claw clip before they get the bath. As a pet parent who had a big Manx crossed with something big/floofy, he got poo-bum quite frequently when adapting to his medicated food!!! So: clip claws (even with stench of poo-bum) then wash poo-bum!
Yes, is important to disarm the murder mittens first!
Poop Crayon i called it, this is why I often trim my cats bum area every 4-5 months to prevent it from getting their poop stucked.

If you put a towel into the dryer while you're giving the bath, then when you come out you can wrap them in a nice warm fluffy towel. Kind of a reward
Highly recommend a sanitary cut to help with the mess. That involves just clipping the on the underside of the base of the tale as well as the area around the butt and if long hair, a bit along the thighs. HUGE help.
@@that.ll_do_pig thankfully he's a dsh so he's easy to clean, we do have to do that with our other cat though because he's got long floofy fur on his underside
If you can add a nonslip surface for your kitty it they feel more comfortable with the sink or tub. Cats like having sure footing.

Yes, and starting with a sink full of warm water is a quieter, slower way to begin. If you have a spray hose, it's also less noisy & more controlled.
Also add a towel to the bottom of the sink something for Moose to grip other than you😢
