I believe riding on lighter vehicles makes them less vulnerable to slow drones and mines I suppose.
I guess they have better vision and quicker reaction times than riding on bulky armored vehicles that can't see much and are slower than drones. Obviously, they better have reconned the area really well as you don't want machine gunners or Bradleys around there.

They won't go like this for an other year, they know they can't win so they are resisting to be able to preserve as much territory for a future peace treaty, but if this peace trity won't come in a year or so and the west will stop financing them well the defense line will crumble and everything can be done in some months
