Amazing footage .this is the original you tuber . That jetty is my favorite Jetty on the oregon coast .I'm at a loss for words .thanks for sharing this video with us .I would have never know about the kilchis sinking there such get history this is the suff you can't learn in text books
Thank you for this. JIM PARK IS MY GRANDFATHER. THIS MADE ME TEAR UP BEING ABLE TO SEE HIM. SADLY HE PASSED AWAY IN 1996. I WISH I KNEW HIM BETTER. I WAS ONLY 8 YEARS OLD. Im actually named after Larry's son who passed away in 1986. George Allen Vandecouverine.
Great video! Thanks for sharing. Went crabbing there and spent time on the Spit as a kid in the 70s. Didn’t know about the Kilchis. Cool seeing the Morning Star in the water.
Great video and narration. I moved to Garibaldi in 1972 and bought the 37' salmon troller "Mar-Shel" which was moored there. I owned it for 29 years. I remember seeing the Kilchis tied up at Hoy Bros. around 1970. It was a sad loss. Those were really the days back then. Gone forever I'm afraid.
I found this video on you tube and forwarded to my buddy that grew up on the coast . He was friends with these folks and remembered the kilchi's going down . On a sad note the little boy at 12:53 also lost his life on that same bar when he was 17 yrs when his boat pitch poled in rough sea's .

Great movies!
Thank you very much
The Tillamook Bar is dangerous on a calm day. The worst bar I have ever crossed.
Ever crossed the Columbia River Bar?
