I had an 8 in my 70s cat duster chopper a 14 tooth centrifugal before that I had a different 8 with no clutch just a sprocket Ide use it to ride to the next town over 10 miles Also had several 8s on my street kart & a tote tote . The 8 is my favorite out of all small engines They feel amazing & sound so good.
When I started messing with that engine I noticed the valves didnt close completely till the compression stroke was nearly done. It had to be pushing alot of the fuel charge out of the engine. So I trimmed the valve stems length to fix the

nice to have welding skills to fit that 8hp briggs onto that little frame. Sounds like the idle was a bit low to me. Would have been nicer to take it for a ride
I'm getting the 15x5.5-6 cleats for my MM80 Race Day project. What are those tires? I'm totally digging those rear axle hangers, did you make them or buy them as tabs and weld them on? Here's my progress so far, I did an ultralight version with a modified gx160 and rigid fork too..... th-cam.com/video/9t__Sm389mg/w-d-xo.html
I just brought the same frame and I have the 276cc motor that’s the 1985 Briggs 7 horse that motor is a beast and I can’t wait to squeeze it in there
Thing sounds sweet you gave me an idea for my 9hp briggs
I thought I was the only one with a flathead on one of these frames! Super cool build.
I really like the old school flatheads
@@dirtfootracing8788 Yeah, there's a different feel to them somehow. I got a Tecumseh 4 HP on mine.
Man I should of rode this bike in Ocala such a sweet build bud can’t wait to see how fast this thing is
Man this thing is sweet! I bet it does get down and boogie! Cool build brother!
Waiting on a new set of front forks - front end sits way to low. New forks will have a disk brake mount too :-)

Nice custom build!! Sharp lookin bike!!👍
Thanks...checkout the later version with the new triple tree and longer forks
Cool looking bike! Sounds tough too
That cam is LUMPY heavy cam. Sounds cool.

Leaky valves ….now when you start it you have to rotate the engine past the compression stroke before pulling the cord

Looks sweet , nice bike great video 😁
That looks awesome
Sounds great but I would slow to RPM down a little bit it'll thump harder
My man! 😍 daaaannng!!
What size carb and jetting did you use on this?

Any tips on how you attached the torque converter?
Were you not able to use the stock carb? I cannot get the cable for the throttle to work with it. Thinking I need a custom one like yours
The stock carb is way to hard to deal with ....the mikuni knock off works way better except having to make the intake.
@@dirtfootracing8788you got a link to the Mikuni carb you used?
that is one low idle, wish honda clones could do that
How fast did you get it going
Its real fast ....still need to do some carb tuning though
@@dirtfootracing8788 about how many rpms before flywheel starts to get sketchy ? Or would rod blow first
@@nealouterbridge3256 I would guess the rod would go first.....
Sounds just like mine
Are you interested in making me a gastank for my monstermoto
In your mind, that sounds like a Harley, raise that idol 1800 minimum are you gonna wear your motor out?

The tires are Sunf’s ... the axle hangers I made... I plan on making more of those shortly. They are welded on
How am I just seeing this
Man I'm constantly having trouble with my pullstart
I brought to Ocala but you weren't there....
