The flu really made me fall behind on commenting. I personally think this was BRILLIANT!! Love the review and thank you for the invite, it was great! ❤❤
So happy that more and more talks about her work, passion and values. While some other still talk about her past. She's in happy and productive phase. Bravo Angelina. ❤
Although I'm not widely familiar with womb to tomb details specifically, I learned a lot about Maria from the books I've read, including Capote's Women and Furious Love: Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton. A lot of that refers to Maria's relationship with Aristotle Onassis, who eventually married Jackie Kennedy, but I still learned about her as a star and the complications with her career, weight loss, and so on. Although I'm not into biopics that focus on the decline, I'm still really intrigued to see Angelina's performance in this. 👌👌👌
Can’t wait to see AJ in an iconic role rooting for her to win the Oscars and more awards others than the awards that she already won for her role as Maria !I Great review btw!
I was a Teen when even I knew OF HER because of the Love Triangle between her, Jackie Kennedy (Mrs. John F Kennedy) and Aristotle Onasis and they were in the Gossip Columns, Newspapers and even TV News. Maria Calas was also interviewed by the world's top journalist. Even 60 Minutes did a piece on her. She transcended the world of Opera. I read articles about her life later on that her Voice probably started to Weaken and then Fail because of Extreme Weight Loss Regiments. She was very very heavy when she started to get famous and suddenly she did a Full Transformation into a Very Slim Glamorous Fashion Icon.
Everyone wants to go back to a stage, where they were at their PEAK. However, what's past.. never returns. Instead, its most difficult to accept the reality that "its over".. that the decline is permanent and definitive. One becomes listless.. and hates being alive, because life is without purpose. Maria Callas had her moment of limelight.. and like every human...what goes up, comes down. Its hard to accept decline. People mess up the decline phase.. even die.. The Story outline is beautiful. Its about LOSS of status, essentially.
@@suyaarauz1395 Why assume that “people forget about Gia”, because it’s not mentioned? That’s a good one, too! This is just a different type of incredible performance. It feels unique and inspired in her career.
I watched the film twice back to back yesterday and again for the third time this morning. Jolie's performance was absolutely extraordinary! I dare to say that this film showcases her greatest work to date! No other actress in contention for an Academy Award nomination in the lead actress category comes close to the brilliance of Jolie's flawless performance! 💯🎭🏆
To be employed back then is very different from today's perspective. Neither Bruna or Ferruccio ever had a salary. They lived with Maria. Callas live was everything, but a tragedy. A genius artist, bigger than live. That's not certainly a tragedy. If that's a tragedy, poor of us... Common mortals.
@@NemesisTheInevitable You’re looking at it from one lens. This film give us another, where we see some behind the scenes pain that she carried around. We see her struggle with substance abuse and mental health deterioration. Sure, her life is filled with glamour and empowering elements, but those things can still be laced with tragedy.
@AnthonyAPerez I just hope they didn't make her a disservice. Callas was a force of nature, but still a woman nontheless. A life full of drama, but still not a tragedy, I believe.
@ I don’t think they do her a disservice, but like I mentioned in my review, this isn’t a story of her rise to fame or her best years. This is an empowering story that highlights her career, but we see her in a sad time in her life.
@AnthonyAPerez besides her triumphs on stage, wasn't it always like that? I mean, in 1958 you had the Rome issue, a couple months later Ghiringhelli's issue, after that Bing's issue... And that's only in one year. It was a life full of trouble and sadness. Since she was very little actually, until her death. The success never turned her life less sad or troublesome... On the contrary. But I think I understand what you say... They make it probably even sadder than it actually was.
@ Perhaps, though saying the film highlights the tragedy doesn’t imply that it removes her beauty and talent. On the contrary, the film is about her feeling empowered in a weak time.
Big fan of Maria Callas and loved Angelina's performance ❤
Angelina Jolie is Brilliant as Always.
Great review of Maria, thank you for going into details, thank you for confirming Angelina Jolie hard work in portrayal of Maria Callas. ❤❤

@AnthonyAPerez 1,000%! ⭐️
Much credit to Angelina Jolie, who dared to learn to sing opera for this movie, she confronted her fear of singing. Courageous 😊
Maybe I’ll give it a shot when it hits Netflix. Seems like a very mixed bag though overall.
Angie ❤
OOO a new angelina jolie movie?!
So it's not being released in movie theaters?
@@samuelm.5752 it will have a limited run, but mainly going to Netflix

Angelina Jolie gives a Rami Malek performance, and this is NOT a compliment.
I can’t agree with that negative take, but fair enough.
