I am enjoying coffee with Kate. Hope you will continue. I do not have a special place for my yarn and patterns. I created a place in my living room with a 6 foot long portable table. This is intended to be a work space so I can work on getting my master hand knitting. I need yarn and lots of books along with my computer. I became wheelchair bound due to multiple health challenges so I need to figure out new ways of doing things. I miss my comfy recliner and my sweet cat who sat with me there while I knit. She passed just over a year ago and is desperately missed. So I am still working on my space. A few days ago my wheelchair caught a strap under the table as I pulled away the table and all it’s contents hit the ground so I a new opportunity to refine my workspace.
Take care and stay well Kate.

Well, Kate, that was a glorious tour of your knitting room, thank you! 🥰 it is so tranquil and inspiring. I have a corner of the bedroom that is comfy and the new dog loves to settle in near me by the windows. Happy to hear I am not the only one that has had numerous different purposes for a room in their home. Wishing you many lovely days of knitting and coffee enjoyment 🥰 janet

Thank you so much Kate for sharing your lovely crafting space with us today. I use my guest bedroom as a crafting space with includes knitting, sewing and beading .. but my favourite space to knit in by our fireplace in the winter and my sunroom or outside on the patio in the summer.

Kate thank you so much for sharing your special space with us. I am also fortunate to have a special room "just for me" where I can sew, but mostly knit and watch podcasts. I have to say I chuckled when you showed us the back of your door because mine looks the same! Lol🤣

Thank you kindly for sharing. All we knitters and hand work folk find one another ! My name is Kelsey and I am originally from New England where I raised merinos and children. I grew up summers on Cape Cod, so we are a seafaring folk. All my family were highly involved with the arts from sewing to rug making. Nice to meet you and your space is lovely and beautiful dear. Thank you!

Thank you Kate, I am enjoying these new chats. You have a lovely crafting space and thank you for inviting us. I would love to see more of your knitting books and pattern books. I often look in shops but always a poor selection or hardly any at all. Noticed too you enjoy Debbie Macomber. I have many of her books also.. Until next time, happy knitting and take care.

Good evening Katie, absolutely love your craft room, it's so nice to have a place where you can relax and enjoy your knitting and other crafts, you have everything so well organised.
I have my own space as well, it was Jim's bedroom and I just couldn't use after he passed, so it's now my knitting and sewing room, with my large stash of wool and yarns in 4 x 8 cube units from the same store as yours and I also have a number of the floral boxes the same as yours as well, I have my sewing machine on the table at the window, although I don't do as much sewing as I used to,
I have my computer and printer and everything I might need for that.
I have a wooden single bed which I have turned into a sofa, which I have some of my larger dolls sitting on, I had bought a reborn doll a few years ago to model my baby knits and I fell in love with the artistry in the making of the reborn dolls and I now have a collection of them,, my daughter says they are creepy lol.
Thank you for sharing your craft room and having a chat.
    Love and hugs from Scotland

A lovely bright and airy craft/knitting room. So relaxing.
I have an empty bedroom that is now my craft/yarn/knitting room. I have recovered 2 wing back chairs from my husbands grandmother. Great heirlooms to have around. I also knit in the front room of my house that is where my tv is so I can knit and watch shows.

I don't have a dedicated crafting space, most of my stuff is stored on shelves in our bedroom along with my sewing machine and fabrics. I craft wherever I am, unless it's sewing a garment or something on the machine, that gets done in our bedroom. I mainly knit with interest in occasional other fiber crafts. 😊💕 Thanks for sharing your crafts space Kate.

How nice! I look forward to having my own person space for all my fiber arts and supplies. My youngest is 4 and my oldest is 16. So it will be several more years. I too enjoy easy read books especially what they call cozy mysteries.
I love the idea of using a retired toy box to store yarn! I love the minute from an old pedal Singer Sewing Machine. My mom recently gave me her's. Such a meaningful keepsake from my lovely mom.

You have a lovely crafting space Kate. I have the little box room where I sew and store all my "stuff" but any hand sewing or knitting is mainly downstairs. In the back in the daytime because it looks out over the garden and in the front at night usually while I watch TV. xx I'm enjoying your coffee mornings. 😊

This is my first time watching your podcast and what a joy it was to hear a voice from home. I have lived in Scotland for 34 years but NI is home. I laughed when I heard that you sometimes “take the head staggers”!! Your knitting space is lovely. My own has my desk, sewing table, fabric stash, wool stash etc etc. I have only just taken it over and am slowly getting it the way I want it. I have several projects on the go always and my knitting at the moment is doll’s clothes for my granddaughter - my first foray into colour work - I thought I’d start small! Thankyou for sharing your lovely space and your enthusiasm.

Thank you for the lovely tour. It is always good to get ideas from others . We downsized to a little row house in the Canadian Rockies a few years ago and I set up one of the bedrooms for my crafting space. Then our son came home , just as COVID-19 hit Canada, to do a second degree (after teaching in South Korea). I moved my space into our large master bedroom and am rather pleased with my efforts. Mind you I definitely don’t have the space to grow a large stash.

Kate, I'm catching up on your lovely podcasts. I too have a knitting den that used to be the original dining room of our 185 year old farm house here in Nova Scotia. When we moved back to Canada our girls used it as a playroom/tv lounge. I do have lots of light though with a large south facing window as well as a west one. I am also a quilter and sewist but have a separate studio for that.

It was lovely seeing your crafting space. You have a very inviting area to create. I find myself doing most of my knitting in my newly remodeled eating area in my newly remodeled kitchen. The rating area used to be a sunroom so there is lots of light. I also have a deck off the doorway and have bird feeders hanging. The birds are such fun to watch. Nice video. Would love to see a review of your books.

So lovely to see your knitting place Kate thank you for sharing. I too have a few knitting places, mainly in the lounge but sometimes in a spare bedroom which is now my craft room. There i keep my sewing machine and over locker, fabrics and tools. Then i have storage cubes holding knitting books sewing patterns and my wool stash. Mine could also do with sorting out, but i know where everything is. Then i have a third room which is really the dining room but has a sofa in also where i sometimes sit and knit. Very enjoyable to share your space so thank you again Kate x

Hi Kate. What a lovely space for yourself; you have a great sense of style. I have a corner of our living room that is my preferred knitting space. I have two yarn bowls, one with the yarn of the day and the other with notions and such, a 3D printed lamb from my husband, and a cute coaster for my coffee. I look out over our back yard, which is fairly wooded. We have put up a bird feeder, and I enjoy watching the birds come and go. I also liked seeing your collection of books, both how-to and pattern books as well as the fiction. Have you thought of doing a Coffee with Kate showing us your favorites? Thanks for welcoming us in!

Thank you for showing your wonderfully cozy knitting space. Love that it is adjacent to the sun room (lucky you) ! I must have been a cat in a previous life because I would be out there sitting in the sun every chance I could, but for now my favorite spot is in a comfy chair by the large span of windows in my living room where the sun comes in for at least a couple hours in the afternoon.

Thank you for the tour of your knitting space. I store my crafty things in our spare room, which is a bit of a mess now given that we haven’t been able to have guests for nearly 12 months. It has a bed made up ready though should one of us get COVID ready for isolation! The windows in this room are small & I prefer to knit in the light & with a view, so like you I use our sun room in the warmer months & in the cooler months I knit in my bedroom, which is toasty warm & has amazing views of our valley 😀

So enjoyable Kate. Nice to see your special room. I would love to have one of these. I sometimes knit in our little library. I as well knit at times on the bed. ( during lockdown when the early stages of getting used to my husband being home vs.at work..... I went to my car and knit and had quiet time). Our 2 little dogs like to plop themselves aside me so I aLways need a little space to accommodate them. The ballwinder is so nice.

Thank-you, Kate! You are fortunate to have a full room for your knitting and crafting! I have an end of the dining-room table, by some lovely built-in bookcases that my husband added to our small house. Some of my yarn stash is sequestered in a stack of old suitcases, which I like very much. More of it is in bags and boxes around the room... and in another room...... I am trying to stay on a “yarn diet” this year! I really don’t need to buy more!
My son and daughter-in-law have the same chest that you use for a coffee table, same colour too! Best wishes from Canada.

Hi Kate! Thanks for the tour of your space, it looks well loved. I have a room which is in the walkout basement of our home. I don’t use it as much as I thought I would because it is quite dark. I have decent artificial light but little natural as the one window is right underneath a portion of our deck. So it gets used mostly for storage and guests as it has a sofa bed. I do most of my knitting in the living room which has a lovely view of the pond and hillside Blessings to you. Linda Maine USA

Loved seeing your cozy knitting space. You’ve done a great job of organizing it and also having sentimental souvenirs sprinkled all around. Your mum’s button box is so sweet. I have my mom’s button tin, too, and its very dear to me. I took over one of my son’s bedrooms when it was clear he wasn’t going to move back home. It does double as a guest room, but other than my little grandson, there have been no guests, thanks to Covid. It has a big window with one of my most beloved trees, a Japanese maple, right outside. It’s one of my favorite places in my home and am grateful to have it. Have a great day!

I keep projects next to my chair in our livingroom so I can knit or crochet while hubby watches tv or does his own thing. It has been pretty darn cold here so doing outdoor things isn't happening right now.

Aloha Quilt and Plain and Simple - it's been a while since I read those. And Little Book of Hygge and anything by the Yarn Harlot are always good choices. Jennifer Chiaverini and Debbie Macomber are lovely authors I've met, courtesy of my work at a local independent book shop. I'm working on my craft room - it has a sewing desk, drafting table and computer desk and I've got bookshelves in several locations. The actual storage space for fabric and yarn is still just plastic totes as the room doesn't have a wardrobe or closet, but that will happen after the countertops and sink in the kitchen get installed. It's all a work in progress but we manage. What would my husband or I do if we didn't have projects? We'd be bored silly. Hopefully some of our handiwork rubs off on our son, but living amongst the mess he might be missing the point sometimes. It may not be perfect but we had fun doing it!

Looks like a very cozy and relaxing place to knit. Related to last podcast about needles...in either your podcast or another, there was a comment that we keep the needles cuz each set has its purpose. With that in mind I am so excited that I fount the perfect project for my Prym 2.5mm DPN’s. I like a very loose shortie sock for sleeping and Prym with Paton Kroy Sock makes a perfect pair for me -doesn’t cling to my foot and easy to slip off if feet get too warm. Feels warm and cozy!

Hi Kate...I’m just new to your podcasts and I have a lot of catching up to do. Really enjoying my visits with you and I tend not to rush thru as you are so inspiring. Looking forward to all your knits and learning from your calm ways. Beautiful space and thanks for sharing.

Love your room. Believe it or not, we downsized last year and I now have my very first dedicated craft room and I love it. I am slowly organizing and decorating it.

Thanks for the great tour. I really do enjoy these “specials”. You’ve inspired me to get moving turning our “spare room” into my crafting corner. I’m lucky to have the space - now I need to make it functional and cozy. Salam wa sa’aadah

What a lovely space! We only have 1 room downstairs, so my knitting space is the end of the sofa, with a good light behind me. Hopefully, we will move when we retire and i am hoping to have a space just like yours! Thanks for sharing it.

That looks like my dream woolly knitting space! Although I don’t have a lot of room in my house my special place to knit is on my sofa in the lounge where I can look out onto the glen & watch the wildlife and weather passing by. Thanks for sharing - loved the skein winding at the end.

Sew Serendipity - seeing it in your craft room has reminded me about all the patterns in that book that I had plans for! Different craft, same idea to craft from the books.

I loved your tour. I have a dedicated den room that, like yours, has had multiple uses. It's now mine with all my books and knitting. It's in the back of our home so it's dark, but I love lamps so I have several. The couch is my spot so I can look out at the back yard.

A lovely space, and looks airy and cozy at the same time 🙂 I actually tend to craft in our wee bedroom, which doubles as craftroom as it has my desk, but also I do most of my knitting in bed 😁 It is for practical reasons, though!- it is the most comfortable place for me with my spinal issues because I can have my legs laying straight out & have all sorts of pillow s supporting my back, neck, & even my elbow 🙂 I can knit for much longer in this spot than in my chair by the woodstove, though I do love that super cozy spot!

I loved the tour of your space and seeing that you are a fan of Jennifer Chiaverini novels! I am also a quilter as well as a knitter/crocheter. I am fortunate to have an assortment of rooms in my home that have been vacated by my children and have now become my crafting spaces. I have a “Yarn Room”, a “Quilting Room” (w/a longarm quilting machine), a “Sewing Room”, and a general crafting space for paper crafting and my Cricut machine. I know I’m blessed to have these spaces and I make sure to visit them often!

Really enjoyed joining you in your craft room. It's always lovely to see storage idaas. I recently have made myself a quiet room which I use for knitting, reading and podcasting. Isn't it lovely to have a "me" space.
I would love to know the names off some off the novels you have which are knitting related. They sound fun for a light read.
    Thank you

Hi from New York State, USA. My "yarn room" doubles as my at-home office, so I dont knit there. The light is also not good enough to knit. I have a special spot in the living room with great lighting which is where I knit in the evenings. Thanks for another great video!

A really nice visit - thanks Kate. I would love one of these ball winders but as my old one is still just about working I keep putting it off. My husband came into the room right at the end when you were winding and said it looks like planets spinning around and I thought well yes it does and that’s how I feel about knitting too. My whole world revolves around sewing and knitting but mostly knitting. So it is the centre of my universe. Ps will you be updating your Felix cardigan notes soon. I am going to order some of the lovely emerald yarn and I know you found it took less than you thought but was it 3 full ones and and bit of the fourth?

If you haven't read it yet, I recommend The Summer I Dared by Barbara Delinsky. It has a mystery, a romance, and angora rabbits who get plucked for spinning.
