- 3D printing glue stick isn’t cheap right? $5 for a glue stick!!! So I decided to put a $1 glue stick to the test on my Bambu Lab X1 Carbon and the results… perfect!
Time will tell if how long it lasts compared to proper 3D printing glue sticks!

Where to buy those flavors of glue stick? I heard they taste like the real thing
Why would you eat glue?
@@ThatGuy3DPrintz you didn't? 😢
@@ThatGuy3DPrintz ???
This is the edible version
@@TH-camChannel-my6swwym all of them are edible
@suborgulag7289 there is a difference between edible and non-toxic
“Yo bro what are you eating?”
*Pringles glue*💀
Wait, is there an expensive glue stick for this? I've always used regular glue sticks or nothing at all, and I have yet to have adhesion problems.
Yeah same 😂
Magigoo glue sticks go for around $30-40, depending on the type.
I rather like them, they're liquid. Still doing my own testing to see if it's justified, I'm hoping it'll solve my nylon bed adhesion problem.
Edit: It did! Stuff works a treat! Kinda surprised how well it works actually, I was half expecting all the different types to be basically the same thing with just different marketing. Evidently there's actually something to it.
Yeah there’s many. I bought one that was much more watery for it and dried the application sponge within a month so I went to pritt brand glue stick.
Literally me at the start of the video
It’s so weird I know , why would you ever buy 3d printing glue stick
For the bed material of this printer and some others like it, the gluestick isn't for adhesion, but as a separation layer otherwise it might adhere your print "too well".
But yes, generally any gluestick works, though for cleanup and maintenance anything that can spread thin without leaving clumps is good!
😅😅😅
😅😅😅
Ive been printing for 4 years and never used a single glue stick, i printed abs petg and pla.
Same until the bamboo entered my life
@@brettyoung6223 bought textured PEI and my prints never released. Even after cooling down.
Depends on what bed material you have.
@@rodolfoo3015 I use mainly use bare glass for PLA. And my favorite textured PEI on all other filaments like nylon asa and abs.
I always had to use extra stuff to make my prints stick to the bed, I still don't know why and even a smartass friend that was saying "you just have to clean your bed" went at my home to try it and failed all his prints.
I now use pei and most of the time it work but when I need the extra stick I still use diluted pva glue.
I find this really funny because I don't have adhesion problems, impossible to get off the plate when it's hot. But once it cools down, it pops right off.
Complete opposite for me
Same i just print the bottom layer with a thicker layer height and higher temp and it works fine
Read bambu's recommendations and when while using the bambu labs cool plate glue should always be applied because it can cause the cool plate layer to bubble up if not.
@@chunkstar121 lol Bambu labs cool plate glue is 20 bucks lmao you guys are getting drained. Any regular 1 buck gluestick will work just fine
@LAKXx well 3.99 gbp which converts to 5.06 dollars... where you getting 20 bucks from lol.
Didn’t even know y’all put glue on the plates. I’ve never had adhesion problems 😂
😂😂😂😂
the glue isnt there for adhesion
Been using cheap Elmer’s glue sticks since day 1 about 8 years ago and still use them today and always get amazing adhesion!
I keep scrolling in all of the shorts are literally about glue😃
More incoming 😂😂
been eating elmer’s when i could’ve had pringles? my life is a lie
I use hairspray. Works great and ez to clean
A pretty old trick in the reprap world that one :)
Especially with glass beds if you have problems with PLA sticking to it, hairspray was a really easy way to fix that problem...
They said in the notice guide to not put plate into water 😅
Oh, but that was very special water, not just normal water 😅😅
Actually it doesn't. Wash with soapy water, dry, use glue stick or hair spray as a release agent. I have two of these printers (Bambu X1C) and with the right bed temp rarely need any glue stick.
@@barkybarker2592so what is the right bed temp? I’m having a problem where the first layer not sticking well and coming off after a few minutes into the print.
@@ohh7467 I mostly print on a textured pei plate with pla. Start with a cleaned plate and wipe with ipa every so often. 60 degrees and no glue or hairspray. On a smooth plate I'll use a little glue if needed at stock temps. Some prints require a brim. You might also try orienting the print away from the fan or turn off the fan. Sometimes having the door open helps on pla.
@@barkybarker2592 I did see other using PEI plate without any problems. Mine is PLA plate probably why it isn’t sticking well especially after cleaning with ipa which gotten worst. Planing to try glue.
I don't own this printer, but I've always just used Blue tape or G10 sheets. Both materials work absolutely amazing for just about every common material.
Kydufgeud grenjro
We don't even use pritt stick we just use cheap glue sticks and they work fine
Lsmmdk❤❤❤❤❤❤
So I've been having issues with my prints initial start not sticking to that plate and I could have been just using glowsticks this entire time, I really want to cry
Same problem with mine but I have not try applying glue stick yet. I’ve try slowing down to stick better but instead start printing gaps or uneven prints. Probably temp isn’t just right. Honestly I just got my p1p a few days ago and trying to learn as a beginner.
@@ohh7467 so I have a creality cr-10s pro and I use pla, I have tried increasing temp reducing temp at first and even slowing down speed with all combos, only thing I haven't done is mess with cura settings
So what u printing
Me : Oh nothing just sour cream chips
We've come full circle, people rediscover the old ways :D
I would have mistaken those Pringle glue sticks for lip balm
The actual facts: The adhesion properties come from PVA which is only in SOME glue sticks. If you get the purple kind that turns clear, it works perfectly fine. It's not about price, its about ingredients. The expensive stuff has additives that help it not break down over time being constantly exposed to high heat.
When the end of the affordable line was an Anet A8/A6 without BLTouch,in the old-old times,we were told "don't use gluestick you clown, all you do is mask the problems like bed leveling, cooling, square gantrys and Z height"
Now printers scan your angus to see what you ate, level themselfs and yet the guys go "durrrr, just use glue"
I tried a generic glue stick compared to my bambu original and its definitely a lot worse.
It works, but dries out more, crusts up and releases worse.
After seeing that I ordered 3 more of the bambu originals and a textured pei plate.
At least in the case of bambu, the OEM glue stick is higher quality than a supermarket generic alternative
We’ve all but given up on the cool plate now tbh… glue stick just isn’t for me! But then again if I really need some good adhesion.. I use the cool plate
Hairspray works too.... The cheapest kind
I use the cheapest glue stick I can find and I've never had issues using it ...
Windex spray works wonders to remove the glue stick because the ammonia in it breaks it down after spraying let sit for a 30 to 60 seconds use the spatula to scrape goo off then wash of glass bed with soap and water or a good wipe down with 90 proof alcohol
Cool,,,
I don't use any glue on my x1c.
What kind of plate do you use? My two days old PLA plate isn’t sticking will on first layer.
Damn, I was using rose art dollar store .79 cent glue sticks....those work like a liquid nails. Don't know why people fall for marketing
I just use one of those massive purple Elmer's glue sticks, the ones that are like 2" in diameter, one stick lasts for like 20-30 prints depending on the size wnd how often you feel like re-applying it
I use glue sticks all the time, when the print is done you just reheat the bed and then pull it off. The glue is just there to hold the print on bed if you didn't know 😂
I use regular Elmer's glue sticks. Buy'em by the case. 30 sticks for 12 bucks. Purple ones work great because you can see where it went on
... I really start to wonder how many people have no idea how 3d printing grew to what it is today. A few years ago using the cheapest glue stick you could find was completely normal for printing abs. Only later with 3d printing becoming more commercialized relabled glue sticks for 3d printing appeard.
“Flavour”
Glue stick on cool plate is not for adhesion but for release
I have an old filament printer without a heated platform, and I have been using hairspray. super easy to clean and great results
clean it off with dawn dish soap and make sure you don't touch the plate with greasy fingers. pla will stick the to pad with no issues, no need for messy glue which messes up the finish. I can get glassy smooth prints that way.
I was so dumb that I never knew that pringles made glue.
I personally really like the purple elmers glue stick it adheres really nicely and cleans off very easily! I also use a glass print bed!
Thanks man that was straight to the point and had a minor story to keep me watching.
I just use the purple elmers glue sticks that normally turn clear when dry, works like a charm and its less than 80c a stick
You just glue the cool plate... And glue stick is for NOT having a too good adhesion 🤣
...Pringles glue stick?
Everyone’s talking about 3d printing. Yeah yeah cool it’s the same price as Elmer’s but WTF IS THIS PRINGLES GLUE BS?!?! I thought America had cursed products.
The glue is needed to prevent you from damaging the print surface, not to stick your print to it
Prusa adds a very regular glue stick to their printers. I didn't even know there were fancy ones, sounds like a solution in search of a problem.
As long as its water soluble any glue stick should work fine.
My preference is pritt stick but I normally get it on sale so it's not expensive however any cheaper alternative should work. 👍
I use the cheapest one I can find, here in the Netherlands it's at the Action (a discount store with lots of stores in the Netherlands), it's 2 for €1,59 from the Bison brand which is just a well known brand. They last me months and they work really well.
Ima pull up to school with the Pringles flavored glue sticks
Hair Spray on the cold plate works wonders
Yep,,, UHU Glue Stick on Cold beds works really well too-.
Sour cream and chives????? I thought it was sure cream and onion...
I’ve been using the elmers disappearing purple for like years now i have no complaints
I bought 8 sticks of the worst and cheapest stick glue you can find in a Chinese store 2 years ago and I only used 2 and a half until now. It's incredible how you have to hit the spatula to be able to lift the pieces on the standard glass of the enser 3 v2.
My recommendation is to heat up to 50C° and then apply only 1 pass. This lasts for several impressions
I tried using that one glue stick I had kicking around the house once, and it completely ruined my bed adhesion. Absolutely nothing would stick to it.
I eventually had to take off the buildplate and wash it with water & soap, which I never done before that point
I want Pringle glue 💀
Never thought of putting glue on the pad, I’ve been printing for two years now and never knew this, and my flashforge printer always makes my prints fall off, thanks for the tip!
I use glue sticks and masking tape and my prints still unstick from the bed
Several years ago when I first started printing i bought a 60 pack of elmers glue sticks. they work great and I'm still going through them. But everyday i regret not buy the larger size instead!
$3.28 for a two pack of glue sticks at the local hardware store 😂
In short, yes
When my work got in a Ultimaker 3, it actually came with a glue stick from UHU for the glass plate
Never used glue or anything like that. Level the bed, and setup the first layer properly
bro straight up threw a lebron james throw on the gluestick😂
better question why are they making flavored glue sticks?
I use syrup it works good comes off really easy in water and smells good it doesn't matter what kind
I use normal, works really well.
You sound like the guy from vector 3d lol
😂 compliment taken!
Use a Textured Plate - and no gluesticks...
The new Bambu PEI plate works great without glue.
You can, spread it with a sponge and a couple drops of water
Since I use the right print surface I never ever hand to use any adhesive.
On my glass bed printers I use hair spray to keep edges from lifting. Don't need anything for the others.
Ive used standard elmers for like 10 years lol. But the extreme version seems to last longer I guess, but harder to clean ✌️
The Amazon Basic glue sticks work fine and they are dirt cheap
bic glue stick (the green cap one) worked the best on a glass bed from my experimentation
I am much more interested in the pringles glue sticks.
Why did I think he was gonna use t(e glue to actually 3d print smth?
pringles glue is crazy
Depends on the fan I used regular glue on the creality k1 and the build flew of the board till I got proper glue
My printer came with some Chinese office store house brand glue stick. I usually don't use adhesion products, but just for shits i tried it and it worked (at least for PLA).
Is it edible if not please make edible glue
How do we know how often it needs a bubble
I used to use a normal glue stick but it never worked so i switched to taping down the raft 😅
Hair spray works just fine
Free cheat code for the cheapest way to get a microfilm of adhesion aid..... boxing tape..... cheap plain, clear boxing tape.... preheat the bed to like 30-40 ish . Warm enough to just melt the adhesive on the tape slowly, stick it on flat, quick swipe, immediately peel off... get the timing right and one strip will clean your whole bed and leave a super thin layer. Works. Every. Time. (Also electrical tape works too)
thats not expensive glue stick 0:16
Kores glue stick costs 1-2💶 in store
I just clean mine with alcohol wipes
G10 plus tuning = Never needing glue.
I don’t use anything. Just my heated bed and it works just fine
Pringles glue... PRINGLES GLUE?????
I think I'm the only one that has a problem with too much adhesion and can't get my prints off the print bed
You can use hairspray to
I 3D print all the time (but I just use glue)
why would you buy the expensive glue anyways for bed adhesion? The cheapest no-name glue stick you can find works better than the expensive stuff.
I only ever spent like 20$ on some tpu glue so it would adhere to my build plate better and release with water
Normal glue sticks work pretty well for petg and pla, but doesn’t work that great for abs, asa, nylon, etc.
I’ve always used 99 cent store Elmer’s glue
What happens if you don’t use any glue?
I just piss on the print bed and let it get dry before I start printing, it works great.
Im lazy and dont like to level my bed so i just keep brushing on liquid glue and it cuts down the need for bed leveling by like 90%. I just get the gallon of classroom glue and it lasts forever.
My dad literally uses Elmer's glue sticks on his printer and they work amazing
Since when does Pringles do glue😂
Seriously? this was a question? 2015 dollar store glue stick worked just fine
I just use a magnetic creatliy bed mat. No glue stick needed
Just use the spray. It’s way easier to get off and get on
