I think this performance cn be compared to that of Karajan and VPO. One of the immortal prrformaces among many Bruckner Symphony no.7 recordings. I respect H.Blomstedt with all my whole heart.
I am a Japanese Brucknerian . I will be covered with the world of mysterious profundity while listening to this Bruckner,s No. 7 From Tokyo in the dizzying Megalopolis ablaze with neon Which national are you watching this video ?
Thank you for the post. This recording is new to me and I actually prefer this version to the much heralded Jochum 7th (although quite outstanding in its own right) also recorded with the Staatskapelle Dresden!
Thanks for your comment, this version surprised me too! For me it is at the height of Carl Schuricht-La Haya Orch. performance, the best recorded version of this work!!!
I look forward to listening to Schuricht’s Hague 7th. His recording of the 3rd with the Vienna Phil. is my favorite (especially 3td. Mov’t) and his recording of the ninth (EMI, Vienna Phil as well) is often overlooked by Bruckner enthusiasts in favor of Guilini’s monumental recording (don’t like the Scherzo tempo though and and the strange, heavy string playing) on Deutschs Grammophone.
Many thanks for this upload - have heard this is an excellent recording, and it is. Doesn’t seem to be available anywhere. Personally, I think the cymbals and triangle should be included at the climax of the adagio but Blomstedt makes me not miss it in this performance.
Thank you Denon.

Very good performance. Thank you for the upload. It looks like the Superman theme comes from the ending of the great Adagio.
Like listening to a great poem spun out by a master.

Not so keen on this performance. Some strange tempo changes and brass issues in second movement.
Good, but not as good as Asahina or Furtwangler.
