i am a girl who lives with her mom. i LOVE lolita fashion but my mom is that population of people who believe that it is entirely based off the book, Lolita. No matter how i explain it, she always keeps a closed mind, saying its a fetish for older men and they just want to dress like babies and children. I am glad i have something to show my mom, to try to get her to understand. please keep this series going! thank you!!!
I really love informative videos like this. I often wear lolita to work and customers are always asking me about it and I like having cool facts to share with them about it rather than just saying," It's a fashion...? From Japan...? ...yes, I know I'm not Japanese, but, if I'm not mistaken, you're not Italian..."
I am really happy to see these videos come out and hope the series keeps going. It's nice to have somewhere solid sharing the in's and out's of lolita history~
Thanks! If people keep watching and engaging with these videos then we'll definitely keep making more. We have some very interesting topics to discuss in the future ^^
And I think Visual Kei might also be related to England's 70s/80s New Wave Romantic fashion style. From some music artist of that time like Adam Ant and Duran Duran. Nice video!
Thank you very much for providing the references used and also providing a very informative video. I'm currently working on a speech about lolita and this will really give my argument a solid backing.
I really adore this series! I loooove how in-depth it is and how well it's put together. Thank you so much for doing all this research and teaching us more about Lolita! :D
I am loving this series of videos! It definitely explains the parts of history I wasn't so sure of. Definitely hope the series continues, it's marvelous so far
It's funny -- I was aware of Gothic Lolita first, but as I learned more about the various styles, I assumed it didn't actually *come* first. With this perspective, though, that makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the overview!
I actually had been always obsessed with Lolita but when I found this anime called pripara , they have a lot Lolita fashion, my favourite is Twinkle Ribbon brand (is in the anime ). I love the anime because of the Lolita and songs (is an idol anime)
i was looking it up and i think the earliest traces of lolita i found was arika takarano of ali project, they started way before malice mizer in the early 80's and was still incorporating a look like that
Awesome video sent it to my friend to help him know what it’s about. I love lolita but I cant wear it because I don’t have a job yet but I swear I’ll buy some lolita once I get a job
I like how Lolita fashion looks but I think i would fit best is a casual classic Lolita. Personally sweet or gothic is too out there for me but, I like to wear old fashioned things, flowers, and skirts with my outfits and I adore the doll like look of the wearers of this fashion. I might try Lolita out and see.
And here I am going to take Literature for college next year, being a Lolita enthusiast myself. xD Despite how kawaii Lolita has become, I would still favor the original Gothic Lolita.
Hey could you tell me where you got those magazine scans of 1970's lolita? What magazine are they from? What year? I'm doing some research on the topic and it'd be amazing if you could help me out.
Suggestion: If you face the camera at all times the audience will feel more engaged. Your facing away from the camera whilst talking can be kinda unnatural and alienating. I'm enjoying the content tho :)
Nice :D I just have a small comment. She speaks a bit too fast and it's a little difficult for non-english natural speakers more familiar to american accent to understand australian accent n_nU I hope this comment doesn't bother any of you :P she's seems so fun and interesting :3
It's ok! We've had this feedback before from other ESL speakers :) I'm sure we can work something out like slowing down a bit in future videos, and adding subtitles or a transcript, but I don't think we can erase my accent My Fair Lady style XD
***** There are some studies explaining that TH-cam presenters need to speak faster or use jump cuts to provide stimulation for the viewer, or the viewer is more likely to lose focus and click away. It's about finding the balance! We appreciate your feedback. We're working on adding subtitles which should help a lot :)
I'm a ESL speaker and I have to watch the videos twice to understand better. Subtitles would be of great help! Awesome video, anyway! I'm loving this series :)
Can you still wear lolita even though you broke your arm? It's probably a stupid question but ever since I broke my arm, i've been wearing it less and less.
Well the question that is usually raised is are lolitas being themselves? It's complicated because all clothes are costumes really....but there is a video coming about this!

Great video! I love that it really digs deep into things and I can expand my knowledge more about the fashion I love.

Give it a go! You could always wear otome style like Emily Temple Cute's designs, which also have lots of vintage motifs.
me too, and perfaps otome and ouji too

I love all styles really, but the original goth movement does sound interesting. Enjoy your Literature courses!

I wish they did this more often.
Ooh I love these videos~ Also, where did you get your little deer fork bow? It's super cute!
***** It was from a local Australian artist at a convention, I can't recall the name sorry!
Deerstalker Pictures 2 Thanks anyway~
No mention of Strawberry Switchblade?
I love this Lolita school ^*^
I don’t think it’s cosplay unless it’s a character your going to dress up as which what cosplay is
I can agree- I don't dress in lolita clothing but it is definitely not cosplay
I prefer victorian goth lolitas if i were to choose for myself

I KNOW RIIIIIGHHHHT! Guuu their hiatus made me depressed for weeks ;w;

D: Will this ever continue?
NANA KITADE!!!
ALICE COOPER
Neotony in British girls are far more have prettier, neat faces than the Japanese girls, imo.
i need to show this to my parents they still think lolita is a sexualised fashion for young girls to cater to pervy old men!
Otaku isn't a good term for anime fans...Rozen Maiden isn't a shojo but a Shonen/ seinen series learn more about the Pop culture!
weabo!
It's not cosplaying if your not trying to dress like some one else.
Well the question that is usually raised is are lolitas being themselves? It's complicated because all clothes are costumes really....but there is a video coming about this!
Megan Catherine Rose cool can't wait to see moreQ
