    I’ve trained up a handful of photographers now, and when they ask me if I went to school, I tell them a plethora of sources of how I educated myself, read every book, and learned in the field.
    The main source of learning things I wanted to learn, came from Karl Taylor courses. That was 15 years ago now, and I’m not afraid to come back to learn advanced techniques or even basic ones over. On the newest quest to set up wildlife camera triggers, led me right back to you.
    Thanks Karl!

    You continue to be the most knowledgeable photographer out there, communicate what you're doing quite well, have the coolest studio I've ever seen, seem to have a hell of a lot of fun, and produce the most stunningly beautiful shots. I so appreciate your videos. Thanks so much.

    Non-stop learning from you, Karl. I cannot express my gratitude to you.
    Was thinking about buying such a trigger, but I don't shoot so much such scenes. So, releasing shutter on the camera by is more fun. and you can get more awesome results, then with the proper trigger
    Best regards from Mother Russia

    It's not that I haven't tried it, I have... and my kids were amazed by just playing there and taking pictures of their "monster trucks"... next time I'll try the electronic version of it. (With no kids around :D )
    Now to the matter, the spontaneous moments of your models have to be prepared very precisely and in that my friend, you're again the best. Thanks a lot for sharing the ideas.. one day... one step.

    I have that orange black trigger. Cost 200€ and I only used it like couple of times to take timelapse lol. I wished to ise it for lighting but I never did... Now this video reminded me that I got this expensive thing laying in my backpack. Need to brake something in my studio with laser!

    Nice video Karl but what you IMO forgot to mention is that the burst rate of shooting of a MF Hasselblad is not that high (cause it is not designed for sports and action photography and therefor this way of shooting) Your strobes could probably handle it cause they are massive.
    Someone could think, why don't you use a Canon Dx1 , AKA the Gatling of Camera's ;-)
    But you need that high pixel output, dynamic range etc.
    But you showed us some interesting tools and ways to deal with that problem.
    Thanks for sharing

    • @VisualEducationStudio
      @VisualEducationStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks RS and yes the Hasselblad will only allow me to shoot about 1 photo per second and clearly 35mm can be an option for 7-10 frames per second with flashes that recycle fast enough. That technique can also be very beneficial and I should have mentioned it as you can have a series of images to choose from.

    Great video! I used the Triggertrap until it was no longer supported. The MIOPS + is now my go to! Great for lightning and time lapse!
    Question: could the MIOPS + be combined with the Pocket Wizard Plus III to trigger speedlights in a similar setup to the studio lights?

    Do you think a Canon R5 is fast enough for shots like this? 12frame per second mechanical and 20 electronic?
    You have such great knowledge that I’m really impressed

    • @VisualEducationStudio
      @VisualEducationStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Angelo, do the specifications of the Canon R5 say it can shoot 12 fps or 20fps?

    • @Angelo_Paduraru
      @Angelo_Paduraru 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VisualEducationStudio it can shot both, 12fps (photos) mechanical shutter and 20fps electronic shutter

    • @Angelo_Paduraru
      @Angelo_Paduraru 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why I’m asking because R5 is a speed photo camera, I think for this kind of photos, that burst mode is ideal

    • @VisualEducationStudio
      @VisualEducationStudio  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well then it's plenty fast enough if that's the way you want to shoot, but the camera I was using on these shoots can only take 1 photo per second. For me it's about timing and calculating when the best time is and using a trigger to help you capture that particular moment. The method you are talking about is often referred to as 'spray and pray' but it can be useful in certain situations.

    Fun fact: Merlyn Severn, a photographer for Britain's “Picture Post” in the '50s, made the first photo ever of a chameleon's tongue catching its prey. Her method: she bought a chameleon, kept it as a pet, and fed it by hand every day as she watched its reactions very closely. Eventually she learned her pet's behavior so well that she was able to time the photo by eye. Of course today scientists could do this easily using a laser trigger, but I think Merlyn's method is more endearing...

    I have a shoot coming up of a hockey players. I wanted to capture the bend in the stick during a slapshot.
    Does any sort of automated triggering make sense for this?
    Sound might be too slow because the bend in the stick is right at the puck on the ice.
    Laser might work because I could setup the beam behind the puck and have the stick trigger it.
    Or I could just manually do it, but hockey is such a fast moving sport it might take more tries than we have ice time for.
