Heading here today and thought I'd mention - the best local woods - Cong Burn. Get on the C2C and head to King Coal. Turn right off the C2C and cut through the village of Pelton into the woods behind. Up top is Waldridge Fell, downhill is Chester main Street. In Cong Burn woods are days of riding and jumps galore. It's an awesome place that I've ridden for years. It's worth the 11km pedal for me to get there. Thanks for the video 👍
I've done recce over cong burn wood's and the fell and plan on driving over some time to check it out properly. It's around 8 mile each way if I pedal over. I've got a couple of vids on channel from when I've been over in the past check them out.
Got caught out on that steep bit (9:31). If you went onto road at (10:52) would of saved a lot of pedalling, that last bit is a bit steep. Check this unplanned off out at 1:11mins. th-cam.com/video/P6_EQ528UDQ/w-d-xo.html.
Yea there's a couple of steep bits on that trail that can catch you out. I need to go back and ride there again soon. Watched some of your videos the other day. Really fancy riding Whinlatter it looks stunning.
We are usually at Hammers on Tuesdays and local Fridays, either Hownes Gill, Cox Green for tea and cake 🤣or a mooch around the woods, might be off to Whinlatter Tuesday weather permitting
@@OldCodgersmtb I know the woods along by Cox green and surrounding area very well It's my local patch. Been some bother over the river at one of the carparks. Been the goto place for grinder users too meet up they've been travelling from all over. A lady who lives in a house nearby was assulted by a gay guy from Newcastle who has been expoing himself to people between getting up to God knows what in the bushes with others he meets up with on grinder.
Well I'm often running rings around far younger people when playing Airsoft at a weekend..Not doing too bad for a late 40s with bad knees. Not quite ready for an ebike yet. Thanks for watching n commenting.
The trails there are dangerous to hikers etc these Muppets barrel along and don't give any warning they will either mow you down or come that close to the walker's hikers etc they actually put decent people from going there
Well thank you for taking the time to comment. I cannot defentvthe actions of irresponsible bikers. But be assured I ride carefully and always give way to others when on shared trails.
Im from beamish, its a vast place i know the whole place inside out and in all my life have i ever heard so much bullshit in my life regarding hikers and putting walkers off through bikers, man you talk out your arsehole 👍
looks real decent there, never managed to make it (as some decent tracks to there from consett / annfield plain and lanchester), just wasn't sure if there was much there... there's a mtb group called - beamish odd sox who cycle there, but think you have to pay to join... if you're on s t r a v a - check me out on - athletes / 8851768
Yea this was my first proper exploration of the woods. I've previously ridden to it along the c2c cycle route from Washington but after 8 or so miles didn't really delve to far into the woods. I have a strava account but don't use it I prefer komoot.
Steve you ride some local trails near me there is a nice little run through the trees in washington golfcourse not very long but ok to stretch legs
