I am a college professor and a doctor of chiropractic, my hunny is a truck driver and he makes more in a year than I could ever in academia and healthcare. His weekly checks are amazing.

Probably won't be. I work in finance and dropped out of university after one semester. At 18 years old, I could clearly see it was a scam. I paid off my small student loan, worked my way up internally at my job, and am living pretty good with my husband who never went to college but is now a supervisor in the oilfield. Meanwhile, my old college roommate is still broke because she finished school with a lot of debt and still hasn't gotten a job that pays enough to out pay the interest on her student loans. She will most likely be in debt the rest of her life.

I'm highly educated. Truck drivers can make 6 figures. He can become a truck owner and make multiple 6 figures. If he has more than one truck with driver on the road hec can make millions. I had to learn this as a highly educated individual, who came out of college making 6 figures but a friend spent the same 4 years building a million dollar trucking business.
I am in my late 40s. I married a man who was "less educated " but brilliant with his hands and formal education was not his thing. He read books consistently and had a Malcolm X energy. Long story short my family thought the same way. I didn't listen and glad because I would've missed out on a beautiful marriage and a having awesome children. I have a friend with this same mentality with the degrees but no husband, children but has the degrees. Now at 49 she wants marriage. Nothing is wrong with that path just accept the choices you make without regret.

I don’t know what it’s like in US (I’m Australian), but truck drivers make excellent money in Australia, especially the long haul ones. In saying that, I can’t stand people with elitist mentality. The chick is going to regret this down the road when she realises that chasing for more and more will soon become exhausting if she doesn’t define what is “enough”. Not only that, but happiness is worth more than blind ambition. CDL have to pass an exam just like getting a regular driver's license but it is more intense. They have to take classes and learn everything about trucks. Yes they make good money and have excellent benefits but they dont always start off at the top. Also truck drivers have dangerous jobs and meet all types of people. All truck drivers are not bad but many are. This young man looks up to her and I can see him going farther just to please her. Her initial comments was he made good money. She really never complimented him about his goals she only mentioned if he is a mechanic he will make good money. I saw this before and still say she is conceited

Everything this young man has show so far is commitment to a career choice, drive, initiative and a willingness when to go in another direction when necessary. These skills will be valuable for him in his 30s, 40s, and 50s. These are traits that you don't learn by getting a degree. A degree is a piece of paper.

I understand why I made it at the time and I thought at the time but now looking back, that’s such a silly reason to leave a person alone. She has decided she’s too good for him. I would rather have a truck driver that loves me to the end of the earth and admires me then a Doctor Who doesn’t do the same. Of course, life is about choices and she can do whatever she wants but I think a big part of her influence of her family and her idea of what proper goals are will separate them.

I'm highly educated. Truck drivers can make 6 figures. He can become a truck owner and make multiple 6 figures. If he has more than one truck with driver on the road hec can make millions. I had to learn this as a highly educated individual, who came out of college making 6 figures but a friend spent the same 4 years building a million dollar trucking business.

I am in my late 40s. I married a man who was "less educated " but brilliant with his hands and formal education was not his thing. He read books consistently and had a Malcolm X energy. Long story short my family thought the same way. I didn't listen and glad because I would've missed out on a beautiful marriage and a having awesome children. I have a friend with this same mentality with the degrees but no husband, children but has the degrees. Now at 49 she wants marriage. Nothing is wrong with that path just accept the choices you make without regret.

I don’t know what it’s like in US (I’m Australian), but truck drivers make excellent money in Australia, especially the long haul ones. In saying that, I can’t stand people with elitist mentality. The chick is going to regret this down the road when she realises that chasing for more and more will soon become exhausting if she doesn’t define what is “enough”. Not only that, but happiness is worth more than blind ambition. She’ll end up with someone who is ambitious as she is, but she’ll also end up crying when that same person doesn’t spend any time with her because he’s too busy chasing. CDL have to pass an exam just like getting a regular driver's license but it is more intense.
They have to take classes and learn everything about trucks. Yes they make good money and have excellent benefits but they dont always start off at the top.
Also truck drivers have dangerous jobs and meet all types of people.
All truck drivers are not bad but many are. This young man looks up to her and I can see him going farther just to please her.
