From your directions how strong would you say like one cup is? Considering a person who rarely drinks, would it be strong?
It's pretty strong, if you're worried I'd add less then add more to taste

I normally use tito's vodka - rum it just whatever is on sale for me

White rum/light rum but you could also use coconut
