- Many years ago, my first handgun was a 1911A1 chambered in .45 ACP. It holds a special place in my memory. Now I own the Rock Island Armory 1911A1 FS TACT, an upgraded version of the famous 1911A1.
Could there be anything better than the best handgun designed by John Browning? The FNX-45 Tactical could be such a gun. Modern, lightweight, with a high-capacity magazine, is it the .45 ACP of the future?
Stick with me as I compare these pistols, and then check out my earlier individual reviews of the RIA 1911A1 and the FNX-45 for even more detail.
Love this guys energy i tjese videos. So enthusiastic 😅. The fn takes the cake, great gun.
Thanks for the comment. Glad you enjoyed it. The FNX-45 is a sweet gun for sure.
I own 5 1911s all in .45ACP, God's caliber. While i dislike DA/SA, 15 rounds per magazine is hard to argue against. The FN FNX operates with cocked and locked, with the safety operating up and down just like the 1911. In fact the FN safety doesn't lock the slide so you can load and unload without having a live round under a cocked hammer and a live trigger. The FN SA has a lot of slop, but the let off is pretty light, and livable. Not great and crisp like my tuned and custom grade 1911, but livable.
The FN's stainless slide with corrosion resistent coating and thermopolymer frame is a perfect outdoor/camping/hiking companion. Impervious to snow, rain, salt, or sweat. 15 rounds of big, fat hollow points, and i use 230 grain +P JHP. When I install a Streamlight TLR-1 1,000 lumen light in the rails, it becomes a formidable home defense pistol, and will bite any predator, especially 2 legged ones.
Now, among my 1911s, i recently acquired the Springfield Operator. I took it in to my gunsmith and he polished the trigger to a 3.7 pound trigger. It has a picatinny rail for a light and Cerakoted for outdoor use. I would prefer this as i had learned it in 1980 in army officers training and have shot a 1911 for decades. But i would have to double pack Wilson 10 round magazines to get more rounds than the FN. Most soft elastic mafazine holsters can carry 2 single stack 1911 magazines. So 2x 8 rounders will give you 16 rounds per pouch. Carry 2x10 and you have 20 rounds per pouch.
The FN is a perfect companion to my FN SCAR 17. A superb SHTF, WWROL bugout firepower.
U just sold me on the FN..thank you 😊
That energy! The opening could be a gif...or Tshirt..
We've got a spurter!
Love this guy! Stay loud brother.
Ronbo gets very excited about guns!
I used to run a Colt 1911, 1920’s manufacture, great old gun that I used to actually get my Army pistol badge in 1990. Sold long ago, now I have the FNX with a Banish 45 living on the front for recoil control. Not the same, but overall a better weapon as a system.
You Don't drop the hammer manually you use the decocker funtion on the FNX 45T
I have both and love all my .45 pistols. The FNX needs to be cleaned and lubed just like a 1911. It fires hollow point fine but needs to be broken in a just a bit.
Thanks for the comment.
Awesome vids . Always great . But the recording volume is still a bit loud . Even turning down play volume , it still sounds like screaming . Other than that , awesome awesome vids .
Thanks for the feedback. We may have Ronbo turn it down a notch or two. He gets very excited about guns.
One heck of a pistol

Yeah...no. I think I'll stick to my 1911's. Good video though.
Thanks for the comment. Can't go wrong with a 1911.
Heavier and holds half the amount of rounds
