Don't believe the lies, no man can do all that. Its not human, either its an alien or a future human sent back in time to grace us with his magnificent musical talent.
He actually doesn't anymore! He did for the first two acts, but since then it has been a band effort. He still does all the Lyrics, and the story is all his but the band writes a lot of music too. That being said, the man is still Terminator levels of dedicated.
"And everybody wins" at 0:42 is possibly my favorite part. I wish they incorporated that into the song more Edit: "It's so good to be so bad" is a really good part too though
Absolutely stellar! The story of the Acts has turned from a flame/fire theme to a sea theme over time, as the Pimpin' Priest becomes more powerful and prevalent. The symbolism is great, as water extinguishes fire if it overwhelms the fire. It seems wherever The Boy (The Man Act IV onward) meets misfortune, liquid or water is involved. The River and Lake leads him to The City, the beaches where The Boy and Ms. Leading exchange heartbreaking letters, the steam ships that bring The Boy to war, and in 'Waves', the waves of sorrow that Ms. Leading gave him.
I never paid close enough attention to pick up on that. Amazing. I feel like I praise Casey for his many talents perhaps too often, but really, the man deserves it. This band is my favorite and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
At 3:59 the bassline ever so slightly calls back to Ouroboros. Whenever there's a reprisal of another Act song I freak out a little bit, even it's if it's only 4 notes.
"Stranger Heads Prevail" is phenomenal on every level, but I've been following the Acts for many years now, so there really is no competition for Act V.

So it looks like the pimp is having a swell time, now that he's been able to blackmail the boy into not only leaving him be, but perhaps even into helping and improving the church. I'm interested to see how this goes
Hey man, I have a question for you. Is there anywhere I could read more about the story of the Acts apart from the lyrics themselves? English is not my first language so I have a hard time understanding the whole story just by reading the songs' lyrics. Thanks!
I know what you mean. II is just filled with greatness. It has the most stringent story as well, though I have to admit as a foreigner I didnt get much of the story for the longest time. III needed some years to grow on me. I enjoy it while doing a complete listening of the acts, but not so much as stand alone.
My excitement is a cry I can't contain! Everything about this song and video was so perfect. Casey Crescenzo is a damned genius to carry a similar feel in all of these concept albums yet at the same time create such intricate and unique pieces of music. Throw the lyricism on top of that and.... Hhhhnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggh!
the classic throwback at about 3 min omg this is just part of the reason TDH has been my favorite band since I saw them on Oct 31st of 2009 for the first time. So excited for more!
i never noticed this, but think the piano accent pattern in the chill break section ("long was this road i've wandered...") is a slight callback to the verse of Mr Malum from the color spectrum. rad.
Since we're listing tour dates--I am ECSTATIC to see them in San Francisco. Awesome Orchestra is gonna have a field day with this brass section. It'd make a good lead-in to Pimp and the Priest, honestly.
Maybe I messed up by listening to The Color Spectrum as my first TDH album. Everything I hear from them just sounds like that whole album as one song. Melodies and everything.
Whenever I listen to this song, I imagine a pompous and respected priest spending church donations on prostitutes and blackmailing anyone who once joined him but is now trying to expose him.
The fact that Casey writes everything and also MAKES THESE VIDEO CLIPS HIMSELF is mind boggling.
He writes everything? Including the music? Or just the lyrics?
Everything... lyrics, songs, arrangements... he gets collab from other band mates but he does everything on his own mostly!
Fábio Dias Thanks for the info. Was completely unaware. I figured he wrote his vocals and rhythm guitar.

thank god for casey crescenzo
Thank Casey Crescenzo for God! :D
This man can do no wrong. It never ceases to amaze me.
Well said!
Right? I keep expecting to get bored with his music or disappointed by it and it just DOES NOT HAPPEN
Honestly, he just keeps getting better.
This isn't even his final form
He even makes all the lyric videos himself. Really awesome.
I love this band so so so much.
then your taste is so god damn good, lauren 👍🏻😍

Damn, I'd never even thought of that.
It's so funny that you posted this on a video where the church is literally shown burning down
At 3:59 the bassline ever so slightly calls back to Ouroboros. Whenever there's a reprisal of another Act song I freak out a little bit, even it's if it's only 4 notes.
Luke Davies yea same it's nice
This is definitely going to be album of the year for me.
What about the new Thank You Scientist record?
Its going to be a tough decision. As of right now "Stranger Heads Prevail" its my album of the year.
Samuel Blenke There's just so much good stuff coming out! Its so hard to say. Have you heard the new Plini single? Its amazing.
Going to have to listen to that right now. I agree. So much good stuff is coming out. 2016 is such a great year for new music.
"Stranger Heads Prevail" is phenomenal on every level, but I've been following the Acts for many years now, so there really is no competition for Act V.
Let it be known that this is the first time the word 'troglodyte' has ever been set to music.

I'm getting a slight nod to Mr Malum in the boy's reflection, love that they are throwing back to old albums outside of the acts!

THE DIME IS BACK
IK!!! the hype is real dude :D
The Dime is my spirit animal.
The Dear Hunter is perfect.
I can already tell this album will be a masterpiece, like II and IV were.
What about Act III?
III is great too -- to be fair, they're all amazing, it's just II and IV were my favorite.
I know what you mean. II is just filled with greatness. It has the most stringent story as well,

Amazing band. Every album
One of the greatest songs out there, definitely my favorite of the album.

i love that line
and god dammit the ending sounds like it leads into another great song
Melpomene :))
when does it not flow perfectly to the next song in the acts? Xp
just found this band today. they're so good!
This reminds me of that one time when vaguely vampire lady was going after an angel.
What is this? You've peaked my interest.

After knowing the story for this new album, I'm watching the lyrics and It's like, killing me.
this album is going to be amazing.
Yep this album should be able to take me through the school year. Lol
Part 4 was that for me last year

WHAT A SONG! I'm so hyped for this album!
I needed this but I didn't even know that I needed it.

Just recently discovered The Dear Hunter. been binging them for a month now. 🤘
To be completely honest, I was not even remotely expecting this. Not disappointed though.
(this is the first time I've heard of him)
I'M SO READY FOR THIS NEW ALBUM
Going to have to make a very long drive if I'm going to get to ever see them live. Worth it suppose.
Very worth it, They put on on an amazing show. Even better if you score VIP tickets
CAN'T WAIT FOR THE DENVER SHOW!!!!!
Casey you're just too good at this, its not fair.
Casey always make the weirdest music videos which are cool but THE SONGS ARE SO AMAZING
Man do I miss the fuck out of The Receiving End of Sirens but TDH are equally as awesome. Just great music.
I haven't heard guitar picking like that first verse since Beautiful Girls.
It's all coming full circle.
That saxophone part, though. That riff is all I need in my day
I love this song so much

I concur, Snarky Puppy are great!
Warcrimes incarnate love snarky puppy!

I love Closure! I can kinda see that with some of the prog-ier songs, like That Brahmatron Song or Pink Lemonade.
rock n roll prog ???
tronlady1 something like that I guess.
Sound like tiger army. Love it
Casey blows my mind.
Whenever I listen to this song, I imagine a pompous and respected priest spending church donations on prostitutes and blackmailing anyone who once joined him but is now trying to expose him.
