    I can see why this might not have come up on the video, but I think it's important to note that this isn't the first rodeo for Dimitrios. He was the mastermind behind the fantastic eLearnSecurity certifications before moving over the HTB, so be brings a lot of experience and lessons learned from there. I'm very excited for what he and the HTB team are doing here!

    Currently 15% of the way through CPTS as a complete beginner. Loving it so far, tons of information and slowly brining my own set of notes up to speed.

    Yeah they finally addressed the problem of showing people step by step without tons of boring filler videos with no interaction while making it fun and getting people certified for jobs kudos

    Hack the box has greatly helped me learn and gain my barring's in IT, at some points you feel like a blind man trying to find his way through a maze when it comes to being a beginner in some of these IT fields. They really helped me slowly build an understanding where there were gaps in my knowledge.

      @Valerio Turturici It's less than $400 total for CPTS training with exam voucher. Here is an approximate breakdown: CPTS has 28 modules to be unlocked costing approximately 1930 cubes (2000 cubes cost US$200). The exam voucher is $210. Keep in mind that every time you complete a module, you get back cubes (i've gotten back 30 cubes if i remember correctly for the first 3 modules). Most modules cost 100 cubes each to unlock, and some unlock for only 10 cubes and 50 cubes each. In retrospect, I think I could have saved money by purchasing the Platinum subscription instead for US$68 per month, however, I would need to complete the course within 2 months to keep this saving. Having purchased the cubes, i'll have some remaining after i complete CPTS which i will use towards CBBH. What note? If you are asking me whether the CPTS is fundamentals, well one of the creators of the course says its on the same level as OSCP but the exam is more difficult that OSCP however, you have 10 days to complete it. The CPTS training is very thorough and very well written with lots of labs (and detailed explainations)

    • @michaelpierre9738
      @michaelpierre9738 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Valerio Turturici I did not purchase any subscription. I purchased the 2000 cubes for US$200 upfront. I then use the cubes to unlock each CPTS module. I absolutely 100% recommend CPTS for many reasons! The best advice I have heard for beginners interested in pentesting/cybersecurity is from HackerSploit's "3 Year Cybersecurity Career Roadmap"! This is gold! IMO, for absolute beginners with no experience with CTF or IT, foundational courses like HackTheBox Academy's "Information Security Foundations" or TryHackMe's Learning Path "Complete Beginner" or "Pre Security" are a good enough foundation before starting CPTS. If the student has some experience with TryHackMe or similar sites, then they are more than ready for CPTS because CPTS explains all of the concepts very clearly and well with lots of labs to practice.
      CPTS is special because it not only provides you with a solid foundation that includes Active Directory and report writing (two key things missing in eJPTv1 and eJPTv2), but the exercises challenge you to think outside the box and the authors share their pentesting experience and insights which is really invaluable. Another cool thing about CPTS is that once you complete it, you only need to complete 9 more modules to be ready for CBBH because 11 of the 20 CBBH modules are already covered in the CPTS.

      @Valerio Turturici After you register and log into your HTB Academy account, in the top right corner next to your profile name, click "Purchase Cubes", then scroll down to the bottom of the page where you can purchase cubes (50 for $5.00, 100 for $10.00, 200 for $20.00, 500 for $50.00, 1000 for $100.00 and 5000 for $500.00)

    Signed up and im 35% through now. Gotta say ,.. i pulled some hair ^^ some stuff is harsh. But goddamn you learn things! and a few modules are going to stay with me. going back to them again and again to unearth some secrets i didnt understand the first time or the second. i have a few books preparing for CEH und did some THM and comparing to HTB academy they are skimming the surface.
    But surley not for the weak willed or people who are frustrated easily.

    QUESTION: How much Linux knowledge and Networking knowledge is enough? What should be the standard starting point on these Areas on knowledge base?
    Also How much scripting knowledge\practice is enough to be a standard starting point?

    • @anonyghost7422
      @anonyghost7422 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      More is better. I think the fundamentals and solid understanding of the OS is going to be a good foundation. Can you add/remove users? Change passwords? Check cronjobs ? Understand permissions? How about where some things reside in certain directories? Finding files or grepping for a string ? I would say a solid intermediate level would be good to get started in pen testing
      As far as scripting goes, knowing how to read code and how code works is a must in my opinion. Being able to automate tasks should be the bare minimum to be good. Again, these are my opinions and others will say more is better or less. I will leave you with this. Would you hire the guy that knows the minimum or the guy who has a more solid understanding of things?
