This game is so nostalgic and was one of the last games I got to play with my Dad growing up. Watching it all these years later and it's still a solid adventure platformer. Thanks for the memories.
You guys should try and get some kinda remake going for this version of dizzy specifically. From what ive gathered (at least here in the states) people fondly remember this game quite a bit. It would benefit from a remake in the current market especially with how popular indie metroidvania type of games are. Could easily fill a hole in the market too and get some people on the Dizzy train. Just my two cents. Thanks again for the great childhood.

We wrote one version of The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy. It was compatible with NTSC and PAL (we put code in to auto-detect - and adjust timings). Later for the European release we renamed it to Fantastic Dizzy. We are not aware of any other versions. We certainly didn't have another versions with different Map, object. Although there were other Dizzy adventures on NES - Treasure Island Dizzy, Wonderland Dizzy, and maybe more...
I couldn't tell you the number of times I left my NES on overnight with this game to continue where I left off only to find out my mum turned it off. Thank god for the invention of saving games.
i didnt realize this when i was kid but this game pretty much plays like an open world adventure/rpg alike i'm suprised it fits on a cartridge.. but without save feature this game is SOOOOO hard
Oh my gosh. This game! I remember I rented it from the store over and over again, back in the day when you actually went to a store to rent movies and games. I don't know why I didn't just buy it. If I recall correctly, you weren't able to save the game, so you had to play through it successfully in one shot. There was something I never figured out how to do, and I eventually gave up - it had something to do with giving silver eggs to a shopkeeper or something (I haven't yet gotten to that part while watching this). I loved this game so much and it was so frustrating at the same time. I loved the music and I can still recall some of these songs to this day, decades later. Now I'm playing with the GameMaker program and I wanted to take a look back at some old games to give me some ideas. I have to remember what made this game so fascinating and so beautiful.

I finished the game in my childhood. It looks easy on the walkthrougs but I spent massive amount of time trying to figure out what the items were for. I guess I was lucky with my limited English at that time :D I was very happy to reach the end although it was very brief comparing to the length of the game.... But regardles it was a bit of satisfaction to me back then... Music is definately unique ;D also without saving option I think I had to leave my NES running for a very long time ...

Diz was just impossible to control, he used to roll off screen, wobble, miss-timed jumps. Funny but really frustrating. I liked Treasure Island Dizzy but couldn't figure out what to do! I also had Fantasy World Dizzy and Magicland Dizzy, both were awesome!
There should be a TV cartoon series made about Dizzy and the Yolkfolk. It would be one way to really develop Dizzy's character along the adventures he goes on

I had a similar copy of this game. Don’t remember the exact title. All I remember is it was a gold cartridge and only worked on some nes systems. My mother bought it on the qvc channel (home shopping network haha the original amazon).
What a great game this is. Beautiful graphics combined with extremely catchy tunes, creating an atmosphere of nostalgia and mystery that I soak so many years after my teenage years. Never managed to beat it, yet I will try to during this summer. :)

Thanks for the video! Naughty Dizzy, stole eggs from dragon. A good dizzy would left dragon eggs alone. First I did not know that I need to bring an egg to a dragon and found a way to come to dragon with bare hands. I even did not do a task to get an egg. It needs touch a butterfly, then run to dragon and once it hit you, dizzy propels inside dragon cave instead of outside ending up being under the dragon. That's the risky one. Better to bring egg.
I remember a friend of mine told me back in the day if you entered the right code into Game Genie you could unlock "a secret game where you're this egg"... I guess this was it!

Anyone else got annoyed af with only 3 slot inventory? You go somewhere far only to discover you had to took something else instead of what you have. Constant walking for stuff you left earlier. Argh!
Hi. I love Dizzy games. But, the game I have for NES is different. On my game cartridge, that part to the left of Dizzy's house is not closed and the Elevator Machine on the mines are separated. This one is more like Mega Drive version. Which version of Dizzy is this for Nes?
This is the second version. You had the first version, and the third version adds two languages and maps in the town tunnels and starts Dizzy with another extra life.
This is not like the real game. There are 100 stars. As well as you have to manually slide your items. Also Dizzy is purple. As well as the word Dizzy in the beginning. The colours are off a tad.
GoobNoob This one is more faithful to the version released on other systems, called Fantastic Dizzy. I'm used to the American version too (they only released the version with 100 stars in America because it diverged so much from the others) but this version is the "original" game.

I got here after watching AVGN episode. Just had to see how someone else plays this game, the nerd had trouble playing any of Dizzy games. lol
on NES and all emu versions still use a code :) stand on a spider and press inventory :) spiders and others no damage anymore :) only birds and comets

I spent hundreds of hours on this game worst part is you could not save your progress had to start over each time never beat it got close though

There were two versions made. The 100 Star Version was the gold cartridge. This version came out 2 years later as an aladdin cartridge.
