@@Con-Doe organized theft rings only care about what they can sell, though. from the looks of it, that guy has kind of a head/vintage clothes shop. they'll rob him of money if he's doing well, though, it's only a matter of time.
I remember White Rabbit. We all need to retire for much the same reason. I have been running Family singing groups in 3 cities for 51years and for the same reasons, I probably will need to retire, too. Oakland CA
In the late 1980s I bought the coolest dress in his shop. It was themed like Alice in Wonderland it was all print black and white spirals. I loved it but my friends were mostly Goth and they never approved of my hippie punk ways. My parents told me I could never hold a job with such clothes or dyed hair and piercings so we used to take fishing line fillament and run it as clear plastic through my extra ear and nose rings. Seriously Taco Bell in Santa Cruz told me get rid of the piercings or no job. I only had 3 in one ear 2 in the other and my nose. Never pierce your own nose as I did there are too many nerves in the face but I was poor. We used koolade and Knox to color and spike hair. Now its normal.
Owners who want pass these businesses on must realize small business can't work in this high cost environment. Back in the 80's, you could run a small business and buy a house and have a decent life. Now, $104,000 is the poverty line according to HUD and you need over $300,000 a year in income to buy a home. With high business rental costs, utilities, and high employee costs, a young person running a small business in the city today is just not feasible anymore.
Such a nice guy! His love for the Haight and San Francisco is true blue! The politicians of San Francisco need to ramp up their defense of the city's reputation. Or more businesses will disappear because of the awful reputation the city has been getting.
The guy who founded this store was probably under the naive assumption that people would pay for his merchandise when they took it out of his store... 😐
Jimmy you will be missed brother. Pulse of west coast psytrance scene. Actually crime is worse across the city. Haight is safer because Mayor Jordan's clean up and demolishing Buchanan housing projects.
I didn't know this store targeted Chinese Seniors on SNAP. The store owner even said the tourists are back because of Corporate Media scaring everyone away.
Jim is a great guy and friend. His house is to die for.Happy retirement from Florida.
Best store on Haight by far. Sad to hear this, they will be missed. Thank you for the memories Jimmy
Well!
Thank you Jim Siegel for your big heart💕
Gonna miss this store. The haight is dying how sad...
City officials must be proud ! Over 50.% drop in sales.
Crime is nuts! Just because it's not as bad in the Haight as it is in other neighborhoods doesn't mean it's not bad.
i'd say he's wanting to get out before someone runs a stolen car through his shop, too. SF is running out of places to rob.
So true and the shop lifters really are not into the sarongs and tie-dye. Wigs and sunglasses. Fill that shop with Gucci and see what happens.

I bought my first weed pipe in 1997 from there. ✌️

Aw mang, I always took this store for granted . . .☹😮😢
San Francisco elected officials should get their uniforms from this store and dress like clowns who are out of touch with reality 🤣
In the 90's it was called "Euphorias & Distractions" it was a head shop in the back and raver culture up front
I remember that area from the late 60's. They had more fruits running around than you could shake a stick at.
What a shame. Hate to see small businesses like this one close.
Crime not a factor... Sure Jan.
ikr, he's just getting out before the hammer falls on him, too. and, i don't blame him.
Well it's nice to know that the Haight-Ashbury shops have not been suffering the criminal activity that other parts of San Francisco are getting.
Propaganda.
@@inboxnews So you mean Haight-Ashbury is getting as much crime as the rest of the City?
