- I used to commute in and out of from London Liverpool St for over a decade so this in this video I thought I would try the journey from the driver's perspective! I'm driving the Siemens-built Class 360 EMU, operated by Greater Anglia from Colchester Town and my first pick-up is to four more commuter cars at Colchester. I then have to take passengers from Colchester, stopping at a number of stations on the line including my home town of Chelmsford. The setting is winter and it's early morning. When we get to Stratford you can even see the Olympic Stadium used in the London 2012 games.

From what I've learned in TS13 and TS14 is that you never engage the emergency brake. Part of what you were doing and why your brakes weren't releasing properly is that you were engaging the emergency brake by pulling the brake handle back all the way. Then you have to reset the emergency brake by putting the handle back up and then back down to release the emergency brake. That's the reset you were dealing with. Never put the brake handle to 100%, TS14 sees that as emergency. Keep it up!
Brings back memories of when I was with my ex, she lives in Chelmsford. I used to commute often from Romford (my home town born and bred) to Chelmsford and back.
Having lived in Shenfield and Brentwood all my life and getting this train quite a lot, this has been a great mini-series! Thanks, Squirrel.
I had to do a Chelmsford to Stratford and back in a packed train in sunny weather a couple of days ago. As you can imagine it wasn't very nice. Great video!!
Brilliant. I did Colchester to Liverpool Street for real yesterday. I should have watched this and saved £23.50.
Cool, thanks for the tip :)
You can't get a train into Europe from Stratford. No Eurostar has ever stopped in Stratford station.
+Joshy Fre 2003 they should just call it "Stratford High Speed" then rather than "...International"
Great vid Paul, nice to see someone else having the same problems learning the locos just like I did :D
Great video! 21:00 two 2 car Class 360s? Yeah, that happens!
you can try both in the U.S do Freight and Passenger and I like both train and truck video's, I am retired Police Officer in the U.S state is call Oklahoma, live in the Western part, and I am on medical disable( which me I can't work) Gov gives me a check each month plus I get a retirement check, so I watch allot of things on the computer, keep the video's coming Squirrel..Michael
Right! Thanks :) I guess that's in the manual somewhere! (That I didn't read *cough*).
you should do the *break resetting* while the passengers are boarding so that you won't have a big pause. Nice vid
Thanks for this video man. :) I've figured it out. Before you start moving the train again put the reverser in the direction of travel, release your breaks by putting the throttle on 0%.
When your break pressure indicator (that little blue bar does down completely) You should then be able to proceed again.
Hi squirrel, i am 13 years old, i play all the games you play and i just love watching your videos. I know about going to the door early because i am living 30 kilometers away from my school so usually i take the train and then just run. I hope you do some more train simulator videos, i will get this game for my birthday so i want to see how it is.
You can download this game from torrents.
Whitham actually looked really accurate, I live there, and the crossover thing was the right colour, and the vending machines were in the right place too! :D
Loving these videos, so chilling and yet entertaining!
thumbs up for squirrel getting his train driver friend on during the video
If your looking for trains for your American episode, you have 2 choices really. Either the freight train, or the Amtrak. Amtrak is a well known passenger train here in America especially along the west coast. They are long distance and use a mix of elevated stops, tunnels, and ground level areas.
I can't believe I actually watched two hours of train vids. lol Very cool... the game looks good, but I thought your commentary was very good. Being over in the states I didn't know any of the areas, so it was neat hearing what they got correct in the game and what they didn't.
You commentary is awesome haha I love your videos
Freight train through Washington state! Very beautiful journey.
I think I better get used to electric and diesel first !
American freight on the old Central Pacific railroad would be awesome, if it's even possible. love watching this game so any one you choose i will happily watch it.
Biking community is still going strong, not so much flashing, all across Australia, and most of wales its common to get 'the nod' or a wave.
Also, when you are outside the cab and you miss the AWS, it triggers the emergency brake so sometimes when you come back in from observing and it has subtle breaking happening and you don't know why, it's the emergency is on and you need to switch it off again.
A tip, when driving the train, don't apply the brakes so sharp, that's why you have trouble leaving straight away and have to keep resetting the brakes. No train on any network should need brakes being reset at every station or red signal unless the brakes are applied too sharp.
You should definetly do a freight run around horseshoe curve. I would really enjoy that. Very pretty place. Ive been there to see it and it is very nice.
Cant wait for a Brighton train vid! I live in Brighton!
The approaches to Liverpool Street are, in reality, filthy dirty! Although I think all passengers would appreciate them being cleaned up, that would require the tracks to be closed for some considerable time. Still, I wonder how many years we will be reminded that steam trains used to run on these tracks....
Hi paul Great Video
Dont go up all the way to the end of the stations, there are signs colored in blue where it says you should stop, at 21:31 just a head of you, you can see a sign with it labeled 8. you would stop there if you had 8 Carriages.
I hope this helps, and I hope to see more of these videos.
Thank you for the Entertainment, that you produce for us.
Will
Best lets play ever
You are now a Level 2 Squirrel!
I know this was 3 years ago Squirrel but a note - DTG's policy is to put the art department on the stations themselves.. anything that can't be designed by the time the route releases gets default scenery unfortunately
to answer your question about a dead mans switch the brake/ throttle control probably works like one if the driver takes ther hand off it it goes into full emergency breaking.
Not via train but I go up to Chelmsford often to see the Ice Hockey. Was trying to make out the market/shopping centre area as you passed by the park. Would be so cool if a company would do texture packs, akin to what is done in FSX and other flight sims with photorealistic scenery.
Guess this game is expensive enough though!
I'm a basildon boyyyy! Born and bred in Essex!
surprised you can work a computer
Go fck urself
Nickel Plate Road 765 with a freight. I love that steamer, American, and i have rode behind it.
Select 8 and then use the arrow keys to move freely around. That will make looking around a lot easier.
The opening can of pepsi noise you hear before the horn is the air compressor which make the horn sound.
At the risk of beating a dead horse for a North American route, do consider the Empire Builder. The complete route runs from Chicago all the way out to Seattle with some breathtaking views of the Rockies, the Cascades, the Columbia River Valley and the Pacific. It's long, but I think the best bang for your buck.
Could I point out that the bing noise just indicates an on coming signal, no need to cancel anything! Cheers
Would you be interested in the London to Brighton route? It's 25% off at the moment, and includes London Victoria, Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Gatwick airport etc. It's also the same route the Virgin Gatwick Express trains take which could be fun.
if you break to much you activate the emergency break. then to reset you have set the(Reverser) the blue knob back to neutral, then put it in forward then increase throttle
I live in Harlow!!! You should do the Stansted Express Train route
Hey Paul! Considering the motorcycles: here in Holland we give eachother a low left hand when we're driving towards each other :) -Obviously without touching eachother-
The reason it doesn't move forward after releasing the brake is because if you observe the emergency brake, you'll notice it's a simple on/off switch. When you bring the brake down to the bottom, you inadvertently engage the emergency brake sometimes but not others. Which means you have to bring the brake all the way down to disengage the emergency brake again.
Pay attention!!! I get frustrated when you are a in P5 and You aren't going faster because you tripped the emergency thingy! otherwise good videos!
Agreed.
It seems the passengers are all vampires, none of them cast a shadow :)
I would suggest, that you get used to one signaling system (e.g. the british one or the german one). That would (imho) make things easier for you than jumping from one system to another.
Hey Paul in australia motorcyclists usually nod at each other, but i havent seen any flashing so yeah
Yes! Freight. With Helper units! : D
4:50 "Every time you stop you have to reset to neutral" As someone pointed out in Part #1: you have to do that thing every time you activate emergency brakes. You activate emercency brakes by pulling the throttle all the way down, with this train. If you do not do this, you will not have the problems you have now all the time and you can just accelerate straight on, without any problems.
Awesome video once again
oops thanks squirrel I got the Portsmouth direct line it's a buetifull run so are many others brightens nice n I would love too get Seattle Carslile think I wait till later seen gameplay vids of it it's stunning
Motorcyclists dont flash anymore, we nod our heads :)
Squirrel your games are so cool and I enjoy your show so much here in the US so keep them comeing ! Jimmp 601
Freight would be cool to see !
West Ham United, I think
my uncle deliverd some of the strutcre beams for the olympic stadium
If in the southern US, do a freight train. Very few passenger trains. In the northern US, do a passenger train.
Please go from Hull to Peterborough!
Squirrel the reason you need to "reset" the brakes, is because whenever you go to BMAX, you are activating the emergency brakes. If you avoid activating the emergency brakes, you don't need to do the whole going to neutral thing and can just turn the throttle up.
1440p? AWESOME
Hey man, awesome vids. I'm actually from Tiptree. Also, Chelmsford is a city now.
Can you try and one from London to Milton Keynes please
Do passengers with the unexpected events on, loved the vid,
That actually looks like Romford as well
Ha! I saw my flat! Awesome...
I’ve been in platform 13 in a class 321 to Southend-on-Sea
The deadmans switch is on the traction control not on the floor the driver has to press it down for the train to move
Paul you only need to reset the brakes because you keep going to Emergency. If you only go to Max brake you will not need to reset.
squirrel the left side at beth green is to stansted enfield and chingford :)
You don't have to clear it for a single beep, that just means you're free to pass the next signal
If you mean as a standard DLC for TS2014, no there isn't. Currently they have only UK, USA and German routes.
You may be right about that
Police Sirens at 37:17
Paul, Loving these Train sim vids. I like others say freight, and anything that goes through Chicago.. still the main rail hub in the US of A. Empire Builder suggestion from another viewer sounds interesting. Is that freight though?
I read some comments...we have a lot more train drivers already in the world.
COYI! You went past west hams new stadium!
Those grain Silo things are the Arla Milk place
Try the Acela express on the northeast corridor. Passenger electric.
Try WCML north with a class 86 or 87 and try to master the tap changer
Would love to see more Squirrel. Could you do American passenger please. Thank you.
My local station is on the London to Brighton line and on TS13 the station is totally messed up.
Great vid Paul, British fright train plz? ;)
i think you should put acedents on the line and break
Using your horn is only for emergency or if you see the W sign during day time,
I wish you showed Billericay
You dont need to click Q when it does 'ding'. you need to do it when its a alarm
Squirrel, have you seen the flat on the way into Liv St with the life-size Silver Surfer statue on it's back balcony?
I live in Chelmsford too! I live in springfield
Passenger Northeast Corridor really fun
Do a freight train run. As far as motorcycle's, it's usually a wave, although I don't see it happen as frequently.
Challenging freight train. Snowboard and accidents are fun ;-)
every1 should just flash every1 everywhere they go lol
Hi dasquirrelsnuts! you are awesome! =D
thanks squire
American Freight with some additional 'problems' to work through please Squirrel
Could you get the portsmouth direct line and showcase that please?? Thanks Squirrel
I like the way you play the game, it's fun, but STOP using the emergency break all the time. Then you won't need to reset all the time also. You don't make emergency breaks in your car everytime you stop so you don't need to in a train also. Simply apply the breaks for as much as it needs to stop. Then simply release the break and apply power and the train will start to move again.
But keep making these vids please, I, and I am sure a lot of more people, enjoy them alot.
