- A simple and easy way to return your Amazon purchases for free. This is an instructional how-to video for Canadian Amazon users. After following the steps to package up your product you simply just have to drop it off at your local Canada post office.
For the "return address" on the outside label, put your address. Sorry I forgot to mention that in the video.
You will have to wait till Amazon receives your package back to the fulfillment centre, get processes and checked before you get your refund. You will then see the status change for your order to "Return complete" in about a week. After this, check your credit card account to make sure you got your refund.
You don't even understand how simply but complicated this was, thanks for the easy explanation, you're the best!!!!
Glad the video helped. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. Have a fantastic rest of the week.
This helps a lot for people who return their package for the first time. Thanks for this video. :)
+Jonathan Nelson Castillo glad it helped!
Agree! thank you
Thank you for commenting! Happy New Year!
I am freshy
So amazon says now return via Purolator for $32 on a $109 item...? Can we just use Canada post for free or did that stop?
Return authorization label - in the box, and return mailing label - tape it on the box so it covers all the other labels. Notes. Thanks for the video!
Super useful for someone who has never sent a parcel or done an Amazon return before, thank you :)
So glad the video was helpful. Thank you for taking the time to comment. Have a great rest of the week! Happy online shopping :-)
3 Years later, and you still the goat brobro thanks!
Wow! Thank you for the awesome comment….made my day. Have a great rest of the weekend!
I was so overwhelmed about returning my product but the simplicity of your video helped!! Thanks :)
Glad it helped. Hope you get your refund quickly. Thanks for commenting!
Thanks I thought you had to buy a new box for shipping, glad you can use the one it came in.
Thank you! Someone who knows what they're doing, everyone gets courier but you are extremely helpful with the postal option!
So glad the video helped! Thank you for commenting. Have a fantastic rest of the week!
Very helpful video! I have a question though, I have not yet printed out the return label provided by Amazon. There does not seem to be a printable packing slip. Does the packing slip matter? Maybe Amazon combined the packing slip and return label into 1?
do you know if i can return using the same envelope they've sent or do it always require it to be in a box?
Thanks for the video! Being Canadian helped, too.
So glad the video helped! Thank you for commenting! Have a fantastic rest of the weekend!
Thank you! I’m doing this for the first time today so I appreciate it! 😊
Glad the video helped. Let me know how it goes. Thanks for commenting. Have a fantastic rest of the week.
You can also drop it off at a UPS store.
So amazon says now return via Purolator for $32 on a $109 item...? Can we just use Canada post for free or did that stop?
Do you have an Amazon Prime account? Typically, free returns are only available for Prime members. If you do have an account, keep in mind that some vendors may not offer free returns for their products. This information should be clearly stated in the vendor's return policy.
Thanks for this simple guide! On my return label that I printed out, there's a "Signature" field to the right of Amazon's postal code. Do I need to sign that or is that for them when they receive it?
No need to sign it.
There's a spot on the label that says "signature." Who signs it, me or someone at the post office or Amazon?
For someone at Amazon to sign.
thanks for asking this lol!
Fuck I signed it lol
@@O6i Same hahah
Yes, just check the options for returning your package...probably UPS or other local post office in the USA.
thank you for the video, what a relief at how easy it is. i didn't think it would be so! awesome video!!
Glad you found it helpful! Especially with Amazon prime....most returns are free...just make sure you read the seller’s return policies. And you will also find the reason for the return affects if it’s free shipping or not. You can always cancel and select a different reason ;-)
@@DDIY-Guy thanks for the tip :)
O my gosh I almost threw that extra paper thank you so much
No worries..if you had forgotten the slip for inside...Amazon would have still figured it out...it just might have taken longer :-)
That's great. Should I peel the previous label and bar code off or just cover with the new one?
Just cover the old one :-)
@@DDIY-Guy Thanks!!
@@DDIY-Guy Oh and should I cover the whole label with the tape or along the sides?
As long as the old label is covered, you should be fine.
@@DDIY-Guy Thanks again!
I got mine in a plastic packet ..I cut the pack open but now I want to return those items. I need you buy a new packet right ? What should I do ?
Just put it back in the packet and tape it sealed. Just make sure you have the shipping label on the outside.
@@DDIY-Guy
Thank you :)
What if you're a senior that only has a landline telephone and a desktop computer, but no smart phone and no printer? Is there any old fashioned method possible? Old days: all information handwritten on postal mail / packages.
So... we dont have to write our address on the "from" area?
That is correct.
@@DDIY-Guy thank you!
Is there always going to be an authorization label given? because I don’t see one on my returns.
can i use a different box?
Yes you can as long as you have the shipping label on the outside.
@@DDIY-Guy okay thanks!
Thanks so much Danny for the easy simple explanation.. do we write our Home Address on the return label where is says FROM on the top left?
You don’t need to. They will have all your information on file when they scan the bar code. Thanks for commenting and have a great rest of the day!
thanks so much for the vid. how do you get the return authorization label?
If you look at your orders online or through your app....you will see the return process and will finish with a link to print your label.
Incredibly helpful thank you!
Glad it was helpful. Thank you for commenting. Have a fantastic rest of the day.
Hey Danny, how do you track your package after dropping it off, and also, how long does this whole return/refund process usually take?
Thanks for the instructions!
+pooya tolideh the post office gives you a receipt with the information for your package so if you ever wanted to call them or track your package down you can do so. It generally takes about a week to get to Amazon but it has to be processed and reviewed first before you get the refund. I usually get the refund within 2 weeks. You can see the status if you log into your amazon account under orders section. It’s best to do this from your desktop of laptop though since it’s harder to find the returns status section through mobile view. Hope that helps.
DDIY GUY Danny Jose Thanks man! You've been super helpful :)
+pooya tolideh glad i could help. Have a great rest of the weekend.
+pooya tolideh please make sure you like the video and/or subscribe. Thanks for your comments and support!
Thank you, God bless you abundantly, I was doubting if I put one on the inside.
God bless you too!!! Thank you for taking the tine to comment. Have a fantastic rest of the day!
Where do I go to print label? Thx
If you don’t have a printer, just go to the shipping service you chose and show them the printing label from your phone. They will be able to generate a shipping label there.
Can you return the product with different box? Since mine came with a bigger box and I’m returning only one.
Yes of course! Just make sure you have the shipping label taped in the front and you cross-out or remove/cover any old labels..you should be good. Also try and include the packing label in the package so it’s easier when it gets to Amazon.
I asked the customer service if they cover the packaging cost since I didn't have available boxes around me. And they said they can just do a refund without me sending them the package... weird...
Ya, some items are like that, i get lucky sometimes as well.
Thank for confirming for me the step needed to return a item, I just wished the video audio was louder(had to use my headphones)
+Crimson Fury thanks for the feedback. I started to use a mic for my audio.
Is it okay if the box is messed up
Yes, that is fine as long as the product is fine, Amazon will accept the refund request.
so helpful clear and concise! thanks!😁
Thank you for your comment. Glad the video helped. Have a great rest of the weekend.
Would you know if it has to be put in a cardboard box, or if it could be placed in an envelope (particularly, the orange Amazon envelope it came in~ it didn't come in a box)? Would appreciate your help!
Yes you can put it in an envelope if it fits in there and you can put the shipping label on.
Can I put it in a canada post red mailbox?
You can if the package fits...but I find I get my refund faster when the post office scans the package. But anyway, it still will be delivered.
@@DDIY-Guy alright, thanks for responding 😃
Hi there thank your video it was really helpful! I have a question about the slip mentioned to place in the box? I did not receive a separate barcode that i am supposed to put inside the box where can I find this?
Well....it’s not really necessary to include the packing slip in your package...but if you have the chance to print it out, you can find it by logging into your account, going to your orders list, click on the product you are returning, then click on the return labels link. There you find an option to print your shipping label and on the last page is the packing slip.
the label with the description of the product has to be placed inside the box?
Yes. If you forgot to include it inside your return, its ok...it just might take longer for amazon to find and match your item to the return request.
Would it be possible to return a single one of a plural order, for example, I bought three 5 meter led strips and only want to return one.
Yes. Put it on your comments on the return and they will adjust you return total. Make sure you keep an eye out for the refund amount on your credit card and make sure they actually got it right. If your lucky, they might even give you the full amount back for the total of thr order :-)
@@DDIY-Guy ok, thanks!!
Do you need to tape it up or no?
Yes, you need to tape up the box again.
@@DDIY-Guy thank you
Hello, I have returned my package by dropping it off at the post office. And when I got there I had to pay $19 dollars for shipping even though free shipping was included.
When you did the return process on amazon site, did the option for shipping pop up for you? If so, did it say $0.00 for shipping? If so, did you print the shipping label and taped it outside the box? If so, when you dropped it off at the post office and they scanned the label, did they still charge you?
If you are sending back 3 items can you send them all in one box ( like I received them)? Thanks 👍
asking as you print out the 3 individual packing slips and place it in the box. The. Put at least one of the shipping labels on the box, you should be fine to shipped them all together.
I dont have any of the original packaging that my product came in. Not the amazon box but the original product manufactuer packaging (and its a vaccume so there is a lot). Can i still return it? I cant find anything on their website specifying if i need the original packaging or not. Its a 500 dollar vaccum so i want to know for sure before i ship it out!
I’ve shipped items before without the original packaging and got a refund but it was for items under $100. Not sure if that matters. If it’s still under the return window and you can get a shipping label, than you should be able to return it. The Amazon staff will just check to make sure all the parts are in the box. You could send a message to the seller and ask if it’s ok to return without the original packaging.
Merci beaucoup mon ami! Pas besoin d'acheter un colies chez Postes Canada
oui oui baguette bonjour effiel tower
Hi, I waiting for the printing label ?I don't see nothing.Let me know.thank you
You should check you Amazon account….under orders history. There is a button for print label.
Hi do I need to cross out my address which was originally on the package when it was sent to me? Thanks
Well it’s advised that you cover or cross out any other labels on the package. I generally just put/tape the new shipping label on top of old label.
@@DDIY-Guy Okay thanks for the help and quick reply! 👍🏽
what do you do if your amazon package came in a amazon bag instead of a box?
You can either use the same bag and tape it up again but make sure the return label is able to be attached to the bag or just use a another box to ship it back. As long as the return shipping label is attached to it then all is good.
@@DDIY-Guy thank you!
Thanks this helped a lot
+cobyveron awesome! Glad it was helpful and thank you for commenting.
DDIY GUY Danny Jose my pleasure sir
There is a canada post near me what should I do just tell them I am dropping it off or what?
Thank you for your instruction. I wonder how long it takes Amazon to give us a refund. Thank you.
It depends on when your package gets to the warehouse and scanned by amazon….as soon as that happens, you get your refund. So it really just depends on the delivery service used. Usually the refund takes within a week….any longer, you should contact Amazon.
I have a question do you drop it off at the post office or do the delivery people pick it up
you have to drop it off at the post office or if you chose UPS, then you drop it off there. they scan it there and I that’s it.
@@DDIY-Guy thank you for the fast reply!!❤️
have a great rest of the week!
Can I put the package in a Canada post mail box? Because my package is definitely small enough to put in there
You can but it will just take longer for the return since it will first need to get to the post office building, then scanned...vs you just dropping it off directly. Plus they give you a receipt so you can confirm they received it.
Can we shrink the label at all, or will that mess up the bar code scan?
Yes you can shrink the labels. Or just make sure the barcode part is on the flat piece of the package. Everything else can wrap around.
Question:I have Amazon Prime and am returning an item.I have printed the return label and it says affix postage.I was thinking returns were free, but I guess this is not always the case? Thanks.
When you printed the label, did ask you which method to choice? Like post office or UPS? At that point it would have shown you if it was free return shipping or not.
Do you happen to know if I would be able to return two items in the same box? They both go to the same place . . .
Yes you can use one box for 2 separate items as long as you include both packing slips inside the box so amazon knows its 2 different returns.
@@DDIY-Guy Thank you so much!
Great video. Thanks for the help
Glad the video helped. Thanks for commenting. Have a great rest of the week!
This was so helpful I thought it was not possible thanks
Glad you found it helpful. Do make sure you check the seller’s return policy as some items (especially the ones that are not on amazon prime) can charge you for a restocking and/or shipping fee. It’s usually the less common items that are not frequent sold like specialty items.
DDIY GUY Danny Jose okay will do thank you so much
Hi. Do you need to use the same package you received initially? Or you can use a different one. Thanks!
You can use a different package, as long as you cover or take out any old shipping labels it has and you put the new shipping label on it.
thanks, does canada post have a station to print out these labels if you dont have a printer at home?
I don’t think they can print out the Amazon labels at the post office but you can try. You would have to log into your Amazon account at their location and print it from their computer if they allow it.
What if I don’t have a printer
Save the label on your phone or access it from your amazon phone app, bring your package to the post office, get them to scan the label from your phone, and get them to print it out. You can then stick that label on the box...if the box is jot sealed yet, you can also get them to include the packing label in the packaging.
does a stamp require cost? or do we need a stamp?
most of the returns on a prime account are free. it should tell you at the end of the process before you get to the shipping label step.
Which took longer, you getting your refund or you getting the item when you first ordered it? Great video btw!
Thank you for the video! I had no idea it was free returns. Is that with all and any Amazon returns?
Most of the items that are available for on “prime” users are free returns but you have to double check the seller’s return policy as well to make sure. Also, depending on the reason of the return, it can be free (eg. Damaged, not as described, quality not satisfactory, etc).
Hey Day2Day when you go to the Canada post office do you tell the Post office to drop this off? Or you have to say a returned?
Day2Day with Danny Jose okay thank you :)
Even if you no longer have the amazon box?
Yes. You can use any box just as long as you insert your return slip in it and tape the return label outside the box/package.
Thanks so much for the video!!! It really helped :)
glad it helped! thank you for commenting. have a great rest of the week!
Excellent! One question---does Canada Post only accept packages for free that are being returned within Canada? I have a return to send to the USA.
It will say on your return details the options you have for returns. Not all products are free returns (Most Prime level products are free return). It is best to read the shipping and return policy before buying since some charge for return shipping and/or restocking fees. If it’s a prime product, it is usually returned to the canadian amazon warehouse.
DDIY GUY Danny Jose Thanks! 😊
Doesn't work that way anymore if you are using Purolator
Thanks for commenting. I use Canada Post and I have a Prime account….so what’s different with Purolator?
What if I know i orderd wrong nd im going to return without opening so i can stick both labels outside!
You just need to stick the shipping label on the outside. No need to include the packing slip.
@@DDIY-Guy thanks brother nd i need to go inside a Canada post office right?
Yes. The will scan it and give you a receipt. You should then get an email from amazon that same day or next to say your refund has been processed. If you try and drop it in the mailbox (if your package fits in), the refund will take a little longer.
Also make sure it’s Canada Post vs UPS return label.
i never received an authorization label to put inside my package. i was only sent the label for the outside. Is that normal?
Same with me i nerve rreciv any return author slip
Yes, it’s ok. As long as there is the label on the outside.
@@DDIY-Guy wow good timing reply , july 3 is the last day of return of my item, amazon hard to reach out. thanks a lot
@@DDIY-Guy new subscriber here :)
Thank you! Really appreciate it.
2022 now, and I'm not seeing anything about an Authorization to place _inside_ the package...
Ya…not really necessary as long as you have the shipping label clearly placed on the outside.
Quick question do I need to write something on the label or do I just put it on the box and send it?
No need to write anything. Just tape the shipping label on the box. Put the packing slip in the box as well if you can but not necessary. Then drop it off at the post office.
@@DDIY-Guy ok thank you
Thank you Danny. So anything can be returned as long as it was fulfilled by Amazon? I think I read on their website that the return is free only if they made a mistake otherwise shipping will be deducted from the final refund.
+Alien2799 every product is different return policies. Most of my orders were through amazon prime though so it was free for me.
+Alien2799 please make sure you like the video and/or subscribe. Thanks for your comments and support!
What I need to know is how to find out where I print out the label. I can't find it anywhere.
If you look at your orders...and click on your product that you want to return. You will see an option for Retuning your items....there you will go through the process for reason...then end with print label
If you already have done that process....just go back to your account and click on orders....then product you want to return...there you will see print label.
@@DDIY-Guy Thanks, for some reason I wasn't able to get any further previously. I started the process again and then eventually could get the Amazon site to let me advance. I had been trying for three days though and finally the 'continue' button worked for me. Most explanations assume that people are working on an iPhone and no longer show what a laptop used would see. I appreciate your replies.
Glad it finally worked for you. Have a great rest of the weekend.
@@DDIY-Guy I do have another question for you. When I returned an item a year or two ago when I printed the address label there was a second piece of paper (stock ticket?) to enclose inside the box. In this case, there wasn't one. Have you had a similar situation? I am wondering if, because I complained that the item did not fit into the air-filter it was supposed to be compliant with, Amazon may have decided NOT to return it to stock.
can I just slap the label on the product package and not put it in a plain cardboard box? I threw away the cardboard box amazon gave me with my product I bought.
Yes, you can put in a plain box or packaging envelope if it fits, then just tape the packing slip on it.
Can I return a package in a shoe box duct taped and with the labels
Yes of course. As long as it has the shipping label for your return.
for return address. (After from) do i put my name and my own address once again?
That is correct.
Do we write it down on the box?
If your address is not already on the From section, then write it on the return slip (not the the box)
Do I have to go to a post office or is there a company that can pick it up at your house?
Yes you will need to drop it off at the nearest post office or UPS if you choose that return option instead. If you want the return shipping to be covered by amazon...then this is your only option.
Where do you get the papers?? And can you still do this till this day?
To print the shipping label and packing slip log into your Amazon account from a computer where you will be printing them from. Go to “Your Orders” and click in the product you are returning. Then click on “Return Item”. State your reason for the return and you will the. See a the option to print the labels. If you don’t see the option to print the labels, you might have passed the time range of when you ate allowed yo return your product. Also check the seller’s return policy.
Hey. Do I have to put my name in the return label together with the address? Thanks. Very useful video btw
DDIY Danny Jose I mean, put my name AND address on the outside label?
DDIY Danny Jose sounds good. I just wanted to make sure everything's done right before I send it back to amazon. Anyway, have a good day. Keep up the good work. Thanks a lot Sir
So Danny Jose does that mean you don't have to pay for the return shipment? I mean do you just drop off the package with the label and the Post Office will take it thereon without charging you any postage? Because I read that most of the products don't have free return shipping and you have to pay yourself. Please let me know what was your case. Great video though. Thanks.
I have amazon prime so most of the products I order is free shipping and free shipping on returns. But you ate right that most products that are not free shipping unless they are prime will have a cost for returns and even restocking fees. Before ordering product, it is best to read the sellers return policy for these extra costs.
Thanks bro.
im confused since im not old enough yet to understand how life works yet but, where do i send the box? so do i jsut return it to any canada post location?
Yes just go to your nearest canada post office (or UPS location) depending on what option you chose in your drop off method. You basically go to the counter and the will scan the amazon shipping label you taped on your box and you are done.
what about returning items to Amazon Japan from Canada ?
That is not likely so unless the specific product’s shipping policy states you can return internationally baught items. If you look at the seller’s return policy, it will give you more details for that product.
@@DDIY-Guy I ended up emailing Amazon jp. They reimburse up to 12,000 yen. Anything over that, they give you the money back as gift card.
They also give you the address that it needs to be shipped out to by DHL. And they ask for receipt , tracking number etc.
Thanks for posting this information! Have a great rest of the weekend.
Um my friend sent me an email that had the shipping label on it but the email doesn't contain the authorization label. What do I do.
Tell your friend to log into their amazon account->orders->then view return label->save to PDF. They can then send this PDF file to you so you can print it out yourself.
IT says to write my return address in the cornner but It's already there on my label so what do I do?
You don’t have to write your return address. Make sure you insert the packing slip inside the package as well.
@@DDIY-Guy It also has a signature box do I fill it out?
No need. As long as the person at the canada post office or UPS scans your box, you are good.
What if I put it I a mailbox?
As long as you have the shipping label on the front and the tracking slip inside the package, you are ok and it fits through the mail slot.
I only got one slip. I didn't get a return slip only the label
It should be 2 pages of print out. Log into your account again and go to order history, then go to that order and click on return label. If anything, print it out again and put one inside the box and one tap d outside the box. You really only need the show the bar code in either cases.
Hey do you go inside and do it or in the canada post box?
You have to go inside the post office to check it in.
@@DDIY-Guy thanks
does is have to be a box. or can it be a single package with an amazon logo?
Doesn’t have to be a box. It can be an padded brown envelop.
Hey, I've opened the item that i've bought but It wasn't what I was looking for so I want to return it, Would i get a full return or will there be any fees?
It depends on the seller’s return policy and the type of item...but most amazon items have a good return policy...make sure there isn’t a restocking fee. Do the refund process and if the shipping cost is free, then you just package it back up with the packing slip inside, then tape the shipping label outside the box, the. Just drop it off where it instructs you.
Also most items baught with amazon prime accounts are usually free shipping and returns.
Am i able to order something on Amazon if I'm in the return process?
Yes you can.
Thank you!
Glad it helped! Thanks for commenting.
So I dropped my return at Canada post and a couple days ago amazon got it (Canada post tracking said it was delivered) but it still says refund will be processed when they have received my item
It takes a few days for amazon to check the package, match it with your account, process the refund and updated the status on your account. If you included the packing slip inside the box, it should be a little faster for them to match and process. If you don’t see an update after a week then i would maybe contact amazon but some of my returns have taken longer. Hope you get the refund soon
If its a small item can i drop it off at a mailbox instead?
Yes you can...if it fits the mail slot
will they charge me for shipping if i just didnt like the product
It depends on the sellers return policy...but most things I bought from Amazon (usually on free shipping through Amazon Prime) have a free return policy, especially if you are not satisfied with the product.
DDIY GUY Danny Jose oh okay thanks sir!
even if the item was used for a couple hours?
Yes, even if it was used.
DDIY GUY Danny Jose Ok thanks. I’m returning two different items in one box. Do I have to stick both the shipping labels of each item into the box or I can just tape one in?
I need to return a light bulb to Amazon, does anyone know if I need to put it in the same Amazon box that it was shipped to me in? I think I recycled it already... Also, does the lightbulb need to be in its packaging or can I just place the bulb loose in the box?
You can use any box as long as you put the amazon return label and the packing slip in the box. I don’t think you need the lightbulb packaging...it will depend on how amazon...they might need to scan the lightbulb box bar code to match the product.
@@DDIY-Guy wow thanks for the quick reply! Thank you! I don't think I have the packaging for the bulb anymore so I'll just put it in the box and hope for the best...
No, it didn’t I want to know how to get the label !
You have to log into your amazon account and click on your order history to your order. There you will find a link to print your shipping label.
thank you very much.
Glad the video helped. Thank you for commenting. Have a great rest of the weekend.
They asked me to provide them with a a tracking number where do I find that?
You can find your tracking number when you look at that return request on your account, then click on track return. For the tracking number, you should have gotten a receipt from canada post which as your tracking number. Your shipping label for your return should also be associated to your tracking number when you dropped it off at the post office.
