Speaking of Soviet musical instruments for rock ... Do you happen to know an old tv show, Flight of the Conchords? It was on HBO in 2007 or so. It's about two kiwi comedy musicians having wacky adventures in NYC. Anyway, the second lead, Jemaine, plays a modified soviet Ural bass guitar! Which was very fun to see in an American tv show
