    Ahhhhh!!!!! Still watching and I picked Navy and Mustard for my MFE Sal, too. I had to pick a golden sort of orangy floss to creat that mustard color when stitched up because yes, it would have stitched up more yellow. I love your color choices!!! Beautiful!!

    Julie, I have also been very pleased with the last few issues of Just CrossStitch magazine. I love the Mother Nature series, but I am a little hesitant to start it since it is backstitch heavy. All of the designs in the series are beautiful and knowing myself I will probably eventually start them. Hope you have a great birthday! I always enjoy the book talk. It is never too long.😊

      Backstitch heavy and TONS of confetti! However, it feels like it’s stitching up pretty fast 😍

    Great video. It was fun to see you sharing the area I live in. Happy Birthday!! It is also our grandson's 2nd birthday. We were traveling the 101 at the same time. Our grandson lives in the Monterey area and we are north of Santa Barbara. We passed each other

    Love all the stitching! Ooh, I will need to check my newsagent to see if they stock that magazine still. I would definitely want to stitch those seasonal ladies. Lovelight Farms is adorable. I feel the same about Priory as you - I have been putting it off which is ridiculous as I pre ordered it and still have not read it. And I need a dragon battle in my life! And a Hamlet sampler - cannot wait for that!

    Great video Julie ! I enjoyed your company this morning while stitching my oldest WIP , Halloween at HRH. I loved your idea of finishing 40 WIPS to celebrate your 40th!!! I’ll be here for the journey. Take care, -Samantha 🦋

      I have the smallest start on Halloween at HRH but it often calls to me to work on it! I probably won’t do much on it this year since it’s certainly not going to be one of my 40 finishes 😆

    HI, Julie!! I just started watching this video, and I realized that I too, have so many older WiPs and I am tackling some of them right now. I started making videos again a couple weeks ago and showed some of them. I have also started and finished more projects last year than I ever have. Love seeing your adventures!! Have a wonderful time in California.

    Seems like I am playing catch-up lately with flosstube videos that I love to watch and stitch by. O, loved the little travel intro, Yuma is a great place and the beach in California looks relaxing. Love your plan of getting 40 WIPS finished, I don't have that many but I have about 15 in various stages of not done, lol. Oh, and about 50 I want to start..... Dark Queen is going to be a great piece when she is finished. I am not doing Fox and Rabbit this year, I am still stitching the inner border of 2022, I may be doing tht for about 3 months. My poor Outlander Chatelaine is patiently waiting in the wings for me to give her some love and attention!! Have a great tour of California, would love to see the sights through your eyes. Sending you warm hugs from sunny(not so much) Arizona! The weather is all over the place lately.

    Okay, I’m back now that I finally finished the video. 😄 Of course, all of your stitching is beautiful! I love your Dark Queen so much, it is looking so gorgeous on that fabric. I picked mine up this morning, inspired by you to try to get this January section done! And good for you for going back and working on older projects! I’ve been trying to do that as well, since I did my WIP parade and remembered all the good stuff I have underway, but I haven’t been as dedicated. I have no doubt you’ll achieve that 40 project goal! And I love your book talk and always listen all the way through! Lots of good stuff. I confess to having no desire at all to read Spare but it is crazy how popular it’s been! I haven’t read Ali Hazelwood but I heard her on a podcast recently and she was hilarious, so I need to read her books.

    I am a little sad that Knight in Shining Armor doesn’t hold up. I loved that book when I read it back in the day. I tore through so many of those. I feel like I’ve read The Secret, but not sure. May have to revisit that one. And as per usual I added about six things to my TBR while watching and a few things to my charts to buy list.

    • @kansascitygirlinacoloradow4285
      @kansascitygirlinacoloradow4285  ปีที่แล้ว

      I really remember loving Knight in Shining Armor “back in the day.” I had vivid recollection of the church time travel scene and her giving the lady of the house some modern cold medicine 🤣 Unfortunately the heroine is such a doormat and the 80s misogyny was shining through 🥴 I’ve revisited some more of Julie Garwood’s historicals since this video and they are holding up REALLY well.

    So I JUST started your video, but I have to comment - I used to go to Pismo Beach all the time as a kid! We used to camp in our trailer on the beach, and then other times we stayed in a campground right at the beach, which I think is the same one you’re at! We went so many times with my grandparents. We used to ride our ATVs in the sand, and my dad would take his Jeep out there. We’d dig for clams too. Thanks for the fun trip down memory lane. Okay, now back to the video. 😄

    I completely agree that JCS went meh in terms of what I liked for designs. I canceled my subscription, then found it through a library app, so I occasionally screenshot a chart (for my personal use, not distributing) I might want to do. (Screenshots get deleted after I do the chart unless I anticipate stitching it again for someone, or myself after gifting a piece.)
    I appreciate the digital version as I don't need to store 60 million magazines for 1 design, but I strongly prefer using paper charts too.
    I like those ladies, but I don't want to stitch them or have them in my home. I really need to start a new Joan Elliott though...
    For your hopeful 40 finishes, are there any in storage you plan to grab next time you pass through Colorado, or are they all in the camper currently?

    • @kansascitygirlinacoloradow4285
      @kansascitygirlinacoloradow4285  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also use digital from the library but this chart is so confetti heavy that I wanted the paper so I can highlight and mark it up to keep my place. And yes - I figure I have enough here to keep me going until the summer when we finally get to visit storage again! I brought a ton this leg of the trip knowing we wouldn’t be back for 6 months

    • @texadianstitcher
      @texadianstitcher 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Kansas City Girl in a Colorado World to mark up the digital patterns, I use the "drawing" edit tool in my camera gallery. I just put a small dot per block, then once you want to back stitch, hit the "revert image" button and blank chart again.
      Not the absolute best method, but you can zoom in to see symbols too which is a nice feature.
      I need to take photos of a few kit charts where my photocopier just refused to center properly, and I'm missing a chunk that's not worth wasting more paper to get a good copy.
      The photo edit idea also works on color symbol charts because you always will be able to see your dots. I wish I had the tech when I did a chart ages ago that was mostly dark grey blocks with very few symbols on the colored blocks to differentiate color shades...nobody should do plain grey blocks for 413 & 3799 next to each other. 😖
