Hey mate, another good update - top tip: feed your cows hey, there is no loss in milk production between hey and TMR. Feeding them grass results in lower milk production.

You should look into a pickup or farm truck to do the transports. Save the wear and tear on the tractors

Good Idea! I will look into getting one. The less we can use our tractors the better. Maintenance costs are no joke!

lol, I just started Microsoft Flight Simulator and I had to rapidly improve my driving/flying skills for that game. The consequences are a bit to steep there.

The general store you tried to sell in showed 44ft away when you checked for another sell point which might be the rear drop point up that ramp you passed by

I didn't even think about that! Thanks for pointing it out! I wonder why it was giving me the dump option on and off like that though? Seems like that area is meant to be a sell point of some sort.

One thing I have noticed, but I do not remember if it was in a mod-free or modded game version, I seem to remember when buying seeds, that the pallet gives 1050l for the same price as the bags which only give 1000l. Fortunately, this is easy to check before spending money.

Alright Hugz, for this I don't feel like digging through these videos you put out (all I can remember is it was Riverbend, not Calmsden) but anyway. And this is advice I have actually tested just now. Remember on the Riverbend map video I commented about doing double the work by swathing first? Well, only partly tested, but in the MacDon pack there are "standard harvester" headers that are like the one that fits on the front of the MacDon go-kart. I haven't checked on the yield adjustment, if any, but the MacDon draper harvester heads fit on the regular harvester, have the same belt setup like when making swaths, but offload the harvest directly into the harvester itself, and can also drop the hay swath for more money after. I forgot to turn auto save off on the map before testing, but this might be the solution to use. Possibly get your crop yield increase AND save having to double run the fields to harvest the crop.

Easier doing a "response" than an edit. Finished field 43 (soybeans) on the Frechdachs 4X map, and ended up with 24,786l using a John Deere S790 with the capacity extension maxed out, and the MacDon FD250 FlexDraper harvester head. After, I tried going back over the swaths (had straw swath turned on), with the MacDon PW8 head (the small one you use after on your harvester) and it didn't pick up anything.
Part 2. Started that same map but new game for more research. There are a bunch of non MacDon heads that have the same style, the larger 15.2m wide range as well as some smaller ones, that same wide belt style as on the first ones. All of the same width ones, either named Flex, Dynaflex, or Flexdraper have that on them, including the JD HD50F (was looking for same width as the MD one), Doing more research, using a "regular" header in new game to check total yield, then again in another new game (same field every time), but using another brand header with the same in game appearance as the MacDon draper, and then, if I am not totally brain fried by then, one last run through using the go-kart looking thing with the standard header, to compare to the harvester style headers.

Pt. 3 Same harvester, Fendt Powerflow 40FT head, 27,796l (in tardis max cap trailer, to make sure I have enough for the entire haul in one pile). Next attempt will be using MacDon go-kart with that header, with the little one on same harvester. And to keep things as consistent as possible, I am doing this on freshly started same map, same field, same difficulty setting (easy). Trying to eliminate any difference other than what I am testing, which is total yield with these different methods.

@hugz6559 Further research results. For the record, I am only doing once through each of these. And also, I am the one driving the equipment through all of the way. No AI drivers.
Next time through, did it with the MacDon go-kart (I know that isn't what it is called, but it works) with the standard header. I tried the other grain headers, but only that one fits the little "tractor". Harvested once through, sorry swathed, with the MacDon, went back through with the same set up JD harvester with what looks like a scooper header, final amount, 30,995l. Which makes the best previous results (on this test) using the swathing one-step headers about 90% of that final total of just over 30k.
Although, on the last time through, I didn't have the harvester put down the straw swath while collecting. To be honest, I was expecting this last test to get about the same results as the first 2 run throughs. Kind of surprised there was that much of a difference.

Interesting, so all in all a 10% increase in yield when specifically using the MacDon to swath first and go through with the pickup on a combine afterwards? That can add up pretty quickly on larger fields and the MacDon can mow crops down pretty quick. Do you think its worth it?

    • @wulf-3596
      @wulf-3596 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

@@hugz6559 If you are looking at it from strictly a cost/profit stand point, then I would have to say yes. If you base it on time and effort, however, if you are working a smaller field, it might just be enough to do it with the swather/harvester header directly.
Field 43 on that map, according to the info screen when standing in the field(s), is 9.84 acres (I am in the US so using measurements from this side of the pond.) and, according to the game when I switch measurements, 3.98 hectares. So a pretty good sized area.
That last one, (30k + ) was using the method you did in that Riverbend video where I said you were doing extra steps. The really messed up part about it, to me, was using the MacDon harvester header, I got less than when I used the Fendt version. I know you were saying it was like 25% increase from regular harvesting, and I am going to try that in the next few days or so, depending on work.
To make this test really thorough, however, should complete this series of tests with more than just 1 harvester/brand, and also more than just 1 type of crop as well. Clearly, it needs to be what can be harvested in this manner (wheat, oats, etc.), not carrots, or beets or anything like that, just stuff that the swather can handle. And also, should do multiple passes, even with the same combination of tools. Add them together so there is a total and average, for each harvesting method.
Gave me an idea actually, could do that, but make a video of just that. Show the results "live" so to speak.

I have a theory as to why the General Store's dumping area trigger didn't work. It listened to me about repainting heavily used equipment, and was still steamed at all the money it lost.

    • @hugz6559

lol, we make all that money back very soon! Some other people had pointed out that maybe there is a different trigger behind the general store. I will have to look to see if there is!
