Genatz - is “to Life” like lkhay’m in Hebrew. Armenia due to its Geography being at crossroads of many empires that would go through Armenia and cause death and destruction, it was always a token of gratitude and sort of a prayer that let’s drink to life for being alive and by extension making a resolution to stay alive. You gotta be an Armenian or a Jew and have a history like these two nations to understand the profound meaning of this toast. Love to all and if you are drinking Genatzet!
PS. Italians, Spanish, French and Arabs would drink for health, English speakers for cheers and Turkish for honor. Maybe every nation has their priorities. Whatever is in a great shortage amongst them ;) Oh, these are just the languages I know, if in your language it’s similar or different to these pleas do not hesitate to share with us. Thank you Davo and Lusine for the great video and long live Armenia and the Armenian people all over the world. Genatznoot!

There is a huuuge international population in Dilijan during the academic year. Dilijan has an international highschool called UWCD and a community center which runs programs with older foreign students.
There is a taxi driver (Armen Jan) who even speaks spanish and another one who speaks german because of this :)

Hmm, women really love that yogurt soup... I mean it's pretty good, but it's far from our (greatest) soup... I would say our greatest traditional soup is Xash, beef broth soup. It's almost like eating ramen, of course because of the strong creamy broth flavor, but we instead pour dried lavash into the soup, instead of noodles.

The word dolma is of Turkish origin from the word dolmak . Syrians, Lebanese, Iraqis and Iranians have been making stuffed vine leaves for centuries. Over time, regional variations developed. It includes a version of stuffed cabbage leaves, onions in aubergines cooked in tomato sauce
Dolma is a family of stuffed dishes found in the Balkans, South Caucasus, Central Asia and the Middle East, in which a vegetable or leaf is used as a container or wrapping for another food used as a filling. Common vegetables for stuffing are tomato, pepper, onion, zucchini, eggplant and pointed gourd. Stuffed cabbage rolls and vine leaves are also very popular, which are sometimes also called sarma. Meat dolmas are generally served warm, often with tahini or avgolemono sauce. Dolmas prepared with olive oil and stuffed with rice are generally served cold with a garlic-yogurt sauce.

🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿Dolma tradition is a set of knowledge and skills relating to the preparation of the traditional meal ‘dolma’, which takes the form of small fillings (containing meat, onion, rice, peas and spices) wrapped in fresh or pre-cooked leaves or stuffed in fruits and vegetables. The name of the tradition originates from the shortened Turkic word ‘doldurma’, meaning ‘stuffed’. The meal is shared within families or local communities, with different methods, techniques and ingredients used to prepare the traditional meal by different communities. The tradition is present throughout the Republic of Azerbaijan, and is perceived as a central culinary practice in all regions. It is enjoyed on special occasions and gatherings and expresses solidarity, respect and hospitality. It is transmitted from generation to generation and transcends ethnic and religious boundaries within the country. Bearers consist of traditional cooking practitioners, mostly women, and the wider community of people that use dolma for various cultural and social purposes. The tradition is transmitted through parent-child relationships, while formal transmission mainly occurs in vocational and apprenticeship schools. The element enjoys great visibility within Azerbaijani society, and its viability is ensured by the communities through numerous awareness-raising activities and events such as festivals, vocational schools that teach the tradition and the preparation of publications on the subject.🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿
