    I bought one of these record cleaning machines about 4 years ago and have nothing but praise for it.

    Hi there, thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this machine, very helpful. I've been thinking about purchasing one myself but am still doing some research. Anyway, I'm just curious, do you still have it, still pleased and has there been any issues/problems since you purchased it? Thanks again!

    Best £370 (with lid ) that I have ever spent on hi fi kit - superb. As the gentleman suggests the machine won't perform miracles - but the improvement from a dirty to clean disc is remarkable...great film - many thanks

    Thanks so much for this video stew, helped me make my decision to buy this thing, managed to get it for £344 (bought new) which includes the lid. I've currently got the KAB EV-1 but was frustrated with it, the manual operation gets tedious with the KAB EV1.

    Thanks, this was a helpful video to watch, I cracked mine open last weekend and very happy with it. Took a while to get used to controlling my £1 little spray can at the right angle. Someone (a dealer, older, experienced) steered me away from the Okki Nokki and I'd not thought of the platter/static issue so saved some money there too. Cheers. (P.S. I do vinyl videos in the VC if you are interested)

    Great machine and it is built very well . The reviewer is right, not only are the records clean, static is eliminated with this machine. My only suggestion is for Pro-Ject to just laminate the top surface of the unit to protect the MDF finish from cleaning fluid overspray. I know you can wipe it up , but I got creative snd just covered the MDF top with some clear plastic roll paper . I just taped the edges and made sure I didn’t cover any vital parts . My unit sits in a small closet right by my music system so the final aesthetics of clear covering the unit was not a concern. Just my two cents.

    The static that is removed is not really done by the record vac. Static electricity and water can't coexist. As soon as you applied the water to the record, the static electricity was instantly removed. Nice video. These machines do a great job.

      I used a Knosti for years.
      They are perfect for cleaning up 2nd hand vinyl before you play it.
      I experimented with home made solution and a water bath to finish. The results were excellent.

    • @steelydanfan100
      @steelydanfan100 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doom Guy Yes, it’s just a simple dilution and they give you the mixing bottle. Two reasons: there is less of a chance of a larger bottle leaking during shipment snd it allows you to vary the cleaning strength of the fluid. Hey, one mix will last you 3 months or so.

      @@paulwheatley141 the guy that did the video did a great job of demonstrating how good it is, this video made me buy the machine as well :) did you get the MKII version? the original VCS has quite a few issues (easy way to differentiate is the original VCS has like a black ball shape to the top of the plate that you screw on and off to protect the labels of the vinyl, the MKII has a round silver top to it :)

      Compact machine and great cleaner. Only gripe is the outlet hole blows fluid back on to the underside of the deck.
      I've made a modification for this.

    • @bar7294
      @bar7294 ปีที่แล้ว

      Paul, it's a bit late to reply but that's usually garbage cleaning fluid that leaves a residual buildup on the stylus after cleaning a record, not the cleaning machine. I bought a Knosti once and the supplied fluid left a white gunk on the stylus the first time I used it. I do my own homebrew fluid now and never had a problem since.

    Distilled water is certainly. not free of contaminants. Much better than tap but.... I do my cleaning with distilled then a light final rinse with †ype 1 labortory grade water. It is like the best of distilled, reverse osmosis, deionized, etc. I have found it worthwhile when used as the rinse. Not that expensive since you use a tiny amount. About 24USD/gallon. I actually use an ultrasonic for cleaning and one of these just for the rinse. A bit OCD but I do high res rips and you can hear what the rinse improves.

  • @timmathews8772

    One of the key steps that I have found is leaving the solution on after brushing/applying it. This video suggests 30 seconds, but I have gotten better results by letting it absorb for 2 or 3 minutes before vacuuming. I also find that it is best not to play a newly cleaned record till the next day. Please let me know if anyone has any other suggestions.

      It’s not a turntable , mine has a little yingy yingi sound but it’s not as if it sounds like it’s low on oil or anything . 🙄 I actually think it’s rather robust in construction including the “rough” motor. John, if it were completely silent you might leave it on all night accidentally, who knows ? I don’t consider this an issue at all.
