Bikemap.net has local maps most show contours which is so useful as it tells when you will be climbing and how steeply, also descending. Googlemaps does not have contours and whilst you make think it's an easy 40k to the next town it won't tell you you have to climb up a 1,800m pass to get there. Also Googlemap's cycling tab function doesn't work. Whilst I do look at routes other cyclists have previously ridden I prefer to plot my own. I prefer to see all routes like a full OS map then I can make my choices were to ride. Dedicated cycle routes like we have in Europe - the Eurovelo network, Voievert in France are good. Street plan maps like Googlemaps are ok for motorised vehicles but are frustrating for cycling as they do not show the lie of the land. As you show you have to keep jumping between satellite view, and street view to work out what the terrain is like.
Not that Google map is my favourite but it does have a terrain feature? And in the cycling mode it does show a basic elevation profile and meters to climb etc... It's simple VS OSMAnd has alot more bells and whistles.. :)

Why use OSMand to navigate with your phone and not the Ride with GPS app?
You have to pay to use navigation with ride with GPS.
Now we need a map that shows what the wind will be like...

Ah! We use that for planning sailboat trips here in Florida. Never thought to use it for bike trips. Brilliant.
