I've been enjoying this series, I'm just getting back into the hobby after many years away. I ordered the TT02BR for my re-introduction. This series has been quite helpful.

This is a great series. I'm an ex on-road and off-road nitro racer, taken a break for a few years now. I have just bought this kit with the same in mind - push it as far as I can and pit myself against the pro chassis racers at the track. The carbon radio plate, don't discount what that does for stiffening the chassis and mitigating slop and flex (which can be nightmare for fine setup adjustments) There is also a full carbon chassis plate $$$ :)

Hey Glenn, really interested in this series. Some thoughts from an aspiring racer. For performance over looks: don't set the ride height too low - you'll drag the front of the car on braking, or the rear on acceleration. Imagine you'll want about 22mm rear, 20mm front. (I know from your previous videos you like it slung low for looks). Might be worth putting some thicker diff grease in the front diff to stiffen it up. Also worth looking into different shock oils to get those shocks nice. Wasn't until I got into racing did I realise how poor the generic Tamiya shock oil is. Look for something that is about 40% heavier for the front. Will aid control and help recovery after bumps. For toe angles for the car, recommend toe in at the rear, 2-3 degrees, and tow neutral or out for the front wheels. Might be worth getting the alu 3 degree C hubs for the rear. That will aid straight line speed, and give you bags of cornering. Worth looking into race servos as the difference in performance between a standard servo and a race servo is about 50% more expensive, but huge difference in performance (speed and strength). Finally, tyre wise, probably worth asking the locals at whatever track you go to what they recommend. All the local clubs to me have different surfaces and wildly different tyre and setup recommendations. Likely teaching you to suck eggs, so apologies if this is all obvious.

Nice build, in my opinion its better to have the centre shaft floating, less binding (free moving transmission) also if you hit something hard (chassis flex) centre prop bends. Found this out in the shaft drive touring car days. 👍🏻

I have a Neo Scorcher that I’ve actually put more money in HopUps than any other Rc I own . That being said it’s the easiest chassis to work on and probably the most worry free to drive. The parts are readily available if something breaks and it can handle a brushless set up with the right gear ratio. Look forward to seeing what you do with this one Glenn .

I really thinks there's an opportunity to properly document from stock up, how or if the car actually "improves". At each stage, using the same electrics and motor, the top speed and acceleration could be recorded, followed by lap times on the same course. Other, less tangible items to measure would be durability, look and feel.
Saying "this is a good upgrade" after it's tested would have a lot more value. At the moment, it's nice to see it develop but we don't actually know how much better at every stage ;-)

So you make a superb point my friend, but unfortunately not having a local track remotely close to me and it also being winter over here. I made the decision to get all the new parts on first, then get it out running once finished. Then if anything breaks, replace it with an upgraded part.
Please remember I only do this for fun and to keep my busy until my work permit arrives. I’m not trying to be an influencer or any of that rubbish 🙊

I've built a couple of TT02B so far, first one has a few upgrades, 2nd has a lot. I found parts from GPM racing for most of my suspension, using Yeah Racing (YR 70) for the universal shafts front and rear on the one kit. Steering links and center shaft is Tamiya Hop-ups. I kept the first one stock with the dog bones so I have spare parts between the two cars. Like the TD4 this car really needs the aluminum servo mounts, too much play with stock plastic.

Hi Glenn, nice project. As your primary aim is to improve the car's performance, why not adjust the stance/lower the ride height by using softer springs and/or adding some angle to the shock's position. You'll get a little more droop which might improve handling as well as landing jumps etc. Internal spacers won't improve the car's performance or do you believe otherwise?

      @@TAMIYALegends yes, i think that's a great idea.
Given you said you don't have a track nearby, and other reasons why it's not practical to test the car after each upgrade. I think that would be another great alternative.
You could test both cars with standard motors around a track, then use the same upgraded motors in each car and see if the modifications, amplify the gains from a faster motor since it's now stiffer, and handles better and can use that extra speed. I would donate towards getting a stock car if required at some stage down the track.
Thanks again for the videos Glenn. I need them more than you may realize at times.
