Glad it's all going pretty well, pity about the orientation festival mess up. You'll love learning to surf, such a buzz when you ride a wave. Have you tried a meat pie yet (or a vegan version if you are vegan)? Good luck for Mondee (Monday) 🙃😉
I have tried a frozen meat pie, but not a bakery one yet! I’ve heard those are the real deal, I’ll be sure to vlog when I try one! And thank you!! Hope your week is going well :)
Blue bottles ain't fun if a tentacle gets you. It stings pretty bad and has a sort of burning sensation. If you ever get stung vinegar helps with the pain. If you get stung and it's a patrolled beach with life guards they will sort you out. Just don't go playing with any blue ring octopus in rock pools. They are small and fit in your hand but if you see them blue rings on them it means they are being annoyed and it's a warning. These little guys can be deadly so just admire them and don't touch them and you'll be fine like all our creatures here.
As a masters student, I'm planning to go for a semester exchange to UOW. I'm curious if you got the choice to select the campus between Wollongong and UOW's Sydney campus. I really need some advice on selecting a campus as I'm not sure whether should I select Sydney (better city) or Wollongong (better and bigger campus)? Let me know, thank you ! (And I guess Sydney is just for Masters if I am not wrong?)
This is a good question, but I honestly don’t know the answer to that. My school only had a partnership with the Wollongong campus, so I didn’t have the option to pick between the different campuses. I would suggest looking on google maps on street view to get a feel for each campus, and maybe emailing a school staff member what they suggest for your academic situation. Sorry I can’t be more of a help, all I can say is I really enjoyed the Wollongong campus and city! It’s only an hour train ride to Sydney, so I went several times during my exchange. I would recommend Kooloobong Village B73 for housing if you chose Wollongong.
@@lauramartin12 thank you so much! Is that like the best student accommodation housing? Also in terms of campus life what’s your opinion on UOW social life and how’s the night life in Wollongong? Please let me know, thank you!
Also for which semester did you go there? (The one that begins in July or Feb?) And how was it making friends there (again reflecting back on the social life there)
My best advice for social life is to get involved with clubs on campus! They have a club fair day with lots of options. Before I went I looked on the clubs webpage on the UOW website too. I met lots of my friends through things like frisbee, volleyball, bible study and obviously class as well. Adopt a yes mindset, and try anything and everything. You’ll find people want to show you around and help you understand their culture. As far as night life, I know there are several clubs in the area called the Illawarra, hayday, etc. I dont really go out much myself, but you should have no problems finding people that will.
The explaination method is just awesom..
