Laptop stand for working at home - Three designs to make yourself in lockdown

- During the lockdown of COVID-19 I started working more and more on my laptop sitting at the dinner table. To make this a little more comfortable I decided to play around with some DIY laptop stand designs.
I made three and I'm sharing my builds with you so you can make your own. Like always, if you have any questions, leave them in the comments below.

Prachtig mini project, zelfs te maken van restmaterialen. Met een kleine aanpassing en een contrasterend gekleurd stukje stof heb je zelfs een zomers strandstoeltje. Bijvoorbeeld voor kabeltjes behorende bij de laptop!

@@CornerfieldShop Precies! Haha... Had het in eerste instantie niet gezien, maar keek de video een tweede keer en ontdekte er toen een strandstoeltje in. Het stof zou je zelfs kunnen bedrukken met het Cornerfield Shop logo. Zonnige tips!

You can modify the first design.
1. Make a cut with width equal to the width of the wood in the left piece starting from the center bottom to half the length.
2. Similarly cut the right piece but with the cut starting from the top instead.
3. Now you can join the two pieces by inserting them together on the cuts. Creating a similar stand in an 'X' shape.
You save wood and it is kinda more portable.
You can detach the pieces and carry easily in your backpack.
No glue neede.

The different builds start at: 01:04 (fixed), 03:54 (collapsable) and 06:29 (portable). Thought I would share in case you are only interested in one of the designs.
Heb je toevallig ook ergens de exacte maten van model #2? (Van alle zijden, dat zou het voor mij nog makkelijker maken dan dat jij nu al gedaan hebt). Bedankt voor de duidelijke instructie!
Hoi Bart, het beste dat ik voor je kan doen is een print op A4 van de zijkanten. Die maten zijn exact zoals ik ze gebruikt heb. Op mijn website kun je die downloaden, uitprinten en op wat hout plakken. Dan heb je precies wat ik heb. Het tussenstuk heb ik geen afmetingen van en die steun heb ik ook niet meer dus daar kan ik je niet meer aan helpen. Hopelijk heb je daar wat aan 😄

Wat voor toerental gebruik je om gaten de houten pootjes te boren? Ik merk dat de onderkant van het hout snel breekt met de kolomboor als ik gaten moet boren in kleine onderdelen. Wat is je tip hiervoor? Ik gebruik vurenhout.
Dat is een goede vraag. Persoonlijk gebruik ik graag hoge toerentallen maar wat het beste is durf ik niet te zeggen. Belangrijk is sowieso dat je het werkstuk goed vastklemt (voor kleine stukken gebruik ik een boorklem), langzaam door het materiaal gaat (niet te hard duwen) en altijd een stuk rest hout onderop legt om splijten te voorkomen. Hopelijk heb je er iets aan 😃

Very nice and simple designs. I want to make one for my son as a gift (the second design). What is the size of that back piece please. I can't find that info on your website. Thanks in advance.
Hi Ashok, apologies for the late reply. The middle piece is kind of up to you. If you make it fairly wide it's more stable for the laptop but takes up more spaces. If it is too narrow it's unstable but takes up less space. So somewhere in between is your sweet spot. Hope it's still helpful.

Hey man, loved the video. Can you give me the dimensions of pieces and cuts you made for the second stand. I visited your website but did not find it there.
Hey, I don't have any dimensions specifically for that one. It's basically the same as the first one but with a wider back so you can make slots. How wide is up to you and the slots just have the be big enough that your back piece is flush with the bottom of the two sides. Hope that helps ✌️

Bedankt! Het is 18mm multiplex van de karwei. Niets bijzonders. Het patroon heb ik zelf gemaakt, dat koop je niet in de winkel 😉

Als je wil weten hoe je zelf zoiets kunt maken moet je maar eens zoeken op 'patterned plywood'. Op het kanaal van Michael Alm (Almfab) kun je veel voorbeelden vinden.
