  • This video includes the Unboxing, Review, Testing & Installation of the Lidl Parkside Bench Vice. I picked this up recently when out shopping and thought it would be a good idea to share my thoughts. This Vice is a metal work vice and not designed for woodworking although it can still be used for many things including some projects involving wood.

    Thanks for showing this. I was thinking of getting one. The wobble and rattle put me off though. For twenty quid it's tempting, but I think it would be worth me trying to get a little better quality. Going to try the local boot sales.

      No problem 👍 yea I see what you mean I've been looking around boot sales too but they are not on as often now because of the weather so I just got this.

    Good price for a vice have two different sizes vices at home but like one for my shed at allotment. Dont see these on offer at lidl web site they started a tool offer yesterday they very cheap and have a multi tool drive for £30 not including batteries. I have had mixed view on Lidl stuff have a few things like a bench sander and a sander fail and not used that much. Always keep the receipts, I now scan everything I buy from them when its hardware. There Japanese saws are good noticed you have one too

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea I have the Japanese saw it seems good for the price. I have a few more tools still in their boxes too which I've not opened yet.

    You Can't Go Wrong With Lidl Tools , I Have Bought Nearly All Of Them And Have No Complaints , In My Opinion They Are The Best Value Tolls On The Market .

      I know what you mean I have bought a few and like them all so far. They seem surprisingly cheap even though they are decent quality.

    Enjoyed the video and I really like Lidl's range of Parkside tools, they're good value for a hobbyist. I saw this vice in Lidl recently and I'm sure it's great for many things, but it definitely isn't a "heavy duty" vice (as described in the title of your video). Also, it's a metalwork vice and the rubber jaw covers are for using with softer metals (such as aluminium and brass), so that the jaws don't mark their surface. For the position of the vice on your bench, if you put a piece of flat bar vertically in the vice (so that it's running down towards the floor), will it clear the edge of your bench, or does the vice need to move a bit further forwards on your bench?

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! It is a heavy duty vice when compared to my old vice 😆 Yes it's a metal work vice I plan to add some wooden covers to the jaws. I do have an old record woodworking vice although I haven't gotten round to restoring it yet. Oh and yes there is just enough clearance to get a bar down so all good 👍

    Didnt have any in my store got some f clamps though and a compost bin for £10 down from £20. Plenty of electric tools left and batteries 2 and 4 aMh. I blame you Phill for going there ;)

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Haha yea I have started to pop in there even when I don't need shopping now I will have to stop that 😆

      @@PhillWyattProjects I get told off by my wife for spending £30 on clamps and compost bin, nearly got multi tool drill and batteries/charger, but I do have standalone cordless tools it just nice to have a spare down allotment. I will get a vice next time around I do have a B&D workbench down there is 36 years old and better than ones you can get today

    • @PhillWyattProjects
      @PhillWyattProjects  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Chris-pv2ht Yea some tools you want to buy even though you know you will probably never use them. I have an old workbench you have probably seen it in my videos its a black and decker workmate years old I found it thrown out for the scrap man. Its very sturdy. I have a modern one also but they are made of thinner metal.
