I've contacted about 7 or 8 plumbers that are highly reputable and supposedly have years experience. When I mention this situation 5 of them said "um ohh" and never heard back. 2 plumbers are willing to take this on for about $350. Honestly I'd rather pay them to do it.

Did I miss something. It looks like video ends with the old flange still in.

I also have a house built in the 50's. I have a cast iron flange. I have rigged this thing more than once, to continue using it. After watching what you went through, I think I'll keep doing it my way, until I can't anymore. It will probably out live me. Thanks for the post. Good job.

I know these can be a real S.O.B to work on, I've worked on a few these old rusted cast iron flanges. I've had to use an angle grinder to grind out some of the rusted flange, or cut it with a cutting disc.
Oatey makes a PVC flange (model 43539 & 43654) now that will go into the cast iron pipe, and then you tighten it with hex wrench or twist it (depending on 3" or 4" cast iron). So you don't have to drill out the lead, just remove the old cast iron flange ring.

Praise The Sun haha... I like how there's a camera cut, and then right when starts recording again, WHAAAMMM!!!! Very appropriate for the video topic though... nice form!

There’s not like a large Dremel type tool that cuts the pipe from the inside?

Why not use an inside flange

Seems like you could have skipped the video ahead a few times to shorten a very looong boring video!

you should have used your torch to soften the lead and pull out the oakem thereafter.

lead is soft when hardens and pretty easy to chisel away

Very bad way of removing. There is a much better and easy way to do this. How ? Do your homework
