Spoilers from the manga: It is a failure, because a Zanpakuto is both the sword and the sheath. It’s a little forehadowing of Ichigo’s true Bankai that he will be using to land the final blow on Juha Bach. Ichigo’s Tensa Zangetsu is so sharp, even it’s sheathe crumbles when it is swung.

It showcase Yhwach motivation, more build up for Ichibei and Yhwach fight, and answered many questions that you may have in the future if not for this flashback. Also, Oetsu the goat aka "The Number One Zanpakuto Creator" is finally here. I can't wait for the two episodes finale this Saturday.

What was shown was an ancient past diplomatic meeting between the Quincy King and The Progenitor Soul Reaper Monk Who Calls the Real Name gone wrong. The fact that we got it now along with his signature ability (which shall be named and revealed in the finale) that was taken from him shows that they truly care about fleshing out the source material as much as possible when we’re only about to be halfway through this anime arc, making this one of the best anime adaptations. They’ve been having to sacrifice a lot of fan service comedic gag fluff in the manga and streamline/condense a lot of the dialogue for the sake of the overall tone and appropriate pace for a war to end all of the consecutive back to back action throughout this 2nd invasion of the arc, they know exactly what they’re doing but unfortunately many people are quick to jump to conclusions looking at it from an episodic basis instead of looking at the bigger picture, as if the pacing is out of whack or sacrificing the comedic tone takes away from “the heart of Bleach” while that was certainly a part of OG Bleach, it’s always had this darker and spiritual tone “Less is More, Poetry in Motion”, that’s the true essence of BLEACH. Next week is an anime original fight with our very own Quincy + Bleach’s Battle Of Gods.
This episode feels like an anime from the 80s and 90s, because of the classic animation style that seems to be done all by hand, because of the setting, because of the direction, and because of that heart and soul that the animes of that time had in abundance and that Nowadays most animes don't have it. This ep of Bleach was wonderful.
Who ever directed this episode is a genuis I love how it began how the title card showed up how the introduction and fights happened it was a feast to behold 🔥

Seeing uryu use his shrift so yhwach could teleport outside the cage and yhwach not using auswahalen after the Schutzstaffel wete taken out. I csnt wait for next weeks double episode bc its looking like we will actually get to see the zero division actually fight too. I cant wait to see what kubo is cooking up for cour 3 especially if hes altering things with this arc like he is starting to do now.

There's actually a trick on how Yhwach got to leave the cage. Uryu was shown after we saw the pin Yhwach threw got back in the same place Yhwach was previously standing, then they show Ishida after. Knowing what his schrift is, it's defintely Uryu's doing.
