For the first time in my life, instead of being younger i want to be 60 years older to be friends with this lady. This is the most wholesome content i've ever seen in my life. i'm saving this recipe forever and i'm telling everyone i learned to make them here with nancy. Best ever. 100/10.

Growing up my mom would make fried pies and they were so delicious. Apple, apricot, peach. Then she'd make I "mud" pie for me with powdered cocoa, sugar and butter. Best childhood memories.

Words of warning -- don't try these fried pies!!!!! Beside singing and talking with us, she can prepare an amazing hand pie. Made my dough yesterday. It took a little more flour then for 4-1/2 cups called for. Put in the refrig for an overnight stay and finished them this morning. All I can say is fabulous, wonderful and fantastic. I'm a crust snob and this went far above my own standards / expectations. When hubby got up and ate breakfast - 4 little pies -- he requested peach, blueberry and strawberry! Nancy please do more in the kitchen and know that I would love sit by a warm fire with a cup of coffee just to listen to you. I'm 65 and come from strong women who cooked, gardened, sewed, etc and am proud to carry the traditions on.
@@marygonzales5957 No Mary, she didnt mention it. I was thinking that one could just cut up apples and cook them down with butter and cinnamon and a drizzle of lemon and honey or maple syrup, depending on your personal taste. Apples are so forgiving, you can cook them in many ways.

my grandmother and great grandmother made theirs with their biscuit dough. Never saw them use an egg with it, very interesting. Did you use the dried apple reconstituted and cooked down?

Loved this. My grandmother in Kentucky made them for us. She said they "built the church with Fried Pies". It started with meetings in various houses & then they began having fried pie sales. Apple, pineapple and cherry. Nothing tasted like them.

I always use Crisco oil that comes in a jug, it works great. Thank you!
