This is just a guess, but maybe the Vampire Lord locked onto your Wight Lord in that three-lord combat because you declared the Wight Lord's charge first, so combat was technically joined between the Wight and Vampire first, and then the necromancer was added in after. Really loving this run, I enjoy you sticking to themes to see what happens.
You might be right, I will test that next time there is a three character combat. Glad you are liking it. Once you figure out the AI, doing themed campaigns helps ensure things remain fresh.
