November 13, 2023 Greetings Good Living Alaska; I just finished binge watching your 8 post with much delight. I would like to recommend that you create a play list of all of your videos so that it is easier for a new person to watch them all in order. My parents moved to Anchorage in 1946 when I was 2 (like Harrison). My brother and sister were born in Anchorage. We lived there until 1962 when I joined the USAF. I can imagine my parents moving with a little baby and all of the struggles and difficulties of the times. I now live in the Veterans home in California. I would like to introduce you to some of my You Tube friends who are like-minded. First is "Home Free Alaska". And the other is Holladay Homestead who just moved to Homer (I think) 3 or 4 months ago and are raising 4 very young boys. Both of these families are home-schooling there kids and I’m sure could be much help to you. May God bless you and give you strength and wisdom. Bill Patton
Thank you so much for watching, sharing your story, and for your service 😊! We will have lots more adventures to come! We appreciate the playlist recommendation, as well, and will definitely do that. We will also check out our suggestions and see others are homeschooling, etc.
It's fun to be at the very beginning with a new TH-camr, isn't it? One day quite soon they will be so big they won't be able to answer us so personally. The video where they bought the land with the abandoned cabin and air stream jumped to 53k views! Happy for this lovely family.
Try to stock up on staples your family normally uses like rice, beans, canned goods. With flour and yeast you can make your own bread. That way you don't need to go out in those treacherous roads so often, especially with your little one! You'll also save money in these days.
Yes, we definitely try to stock up 😀! In our last Costco video we did a lot for Winter bc the roads do get bad in the Winter. Thanks so much for watching 😊! Lots more to come!
I love watching your videos. I just found your channel. It makes me miss winter in Alaska. So much beauty in the snow on the mountains and everywhere. I miss driving on the ice road on the frozen rivers. That was a lot of scary fun. We used to drive 50 to 70 miles on the frozen Kuskokwim River in western Alaska going down to Bethel. Yes, Anchorage roads are crazy during the winter in the big snow storms. Have a blessed Thanksgiving.
Thanks so much for watching and we are glad you love them 😊! Thanks for joining us on our journey! Winters are cold, but yes very beautiful! Agree it's scary fun! Glad you spent time in Alaska and have a Happy Thanksgiving as well!
Glad you choose to share your journey on YT. You are surrounded by some good families that have done well with what they face. Hope you have a generator and always have fuel. Eco Flow run specials and occasionally will sponsor a vlog. Please consider when 50% off. They are life savers year round and depending on model powerhouses. I know you are new filming, too pretty for the light to go dark on your eyes. Realize you might be relying on your phone over a camera and Costco lighting is never kind wearing makeup. Sherry w this Alaskan life had the same issue until she and Mary found a camera with a brighter filter. Going to look for the chocolate. We don't always have the same inventory in 🇨🇦 That coat was perfect. Both Lauren and Becky bought for the last trimesters. Kept warm. Love the property btw, can't wait to see those trailers and bought once the snow melts. I'd store those tires in the house to sell. Stay warm and enjoy your Thanksgiving 🦃❄️
Thanks for watching and for all of your suggestions 😊! Glad you are joining us on our adventures! Hope you find the chocolates and Happy Thanksgiving to you as well!
Okay, I'm all caught up with your videos! I've always been fascinated with Alaska. Looking forward to all of your adventures! We lived in FL for nine l-o-n-g years and hated it. We now live in the Colorado Rocky mountains and are loving it! Harrison is SO adorable!
I lived in hawaii for 30 + years, l love the mac nut candy. Ive now been in thailand for ten years and because of you, ive a craving i cant controll. Merry christmas from thailand.
Thanka for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Thanks for sharing! That's awesome you lived in Hawaii and now Thailand! Haha! Yes, those candies are so good 😊! Merry Christmas you and your family 😊
I'm pretty much caught up on your video's now❤ your grocery prices are comparable to ours in Wisconsin. Surprised your fuel prices weren't higher. Do you put out one new video a week? Until your next video, take care folks❤
Thanks for watching and catching up on our videos! Our fuel prices go way up in the Summer during tourist and fishing season. Yes, we put one out every week 😀!
would like to start videos from the beginning. I just watched the one where the family is driving up to see the property. Would like to watch in order. See the blue house, but would like to see the building of it.
Let's add that up 550 or 500 ! And that is not full, space is everything, and puzzle your packing when shopping it will save you from going back to shop
Wow! I guess Anchorage wasn’t ready for such a big early snow! We lived in Eagle River for seven years and I thought they usually did a good job with snow removal but the first snow was always kind of a mess.
Just found your channel. Maybe we will criss cross paths sometime as Alaska seems to be the biggest small state I’ve ever seen. We are up in the valley. Do most our shopping at Carr’s and three bears.
You should bring some kind of cooler or a yeti to keep your perishables cold because even though it's cold outside you probably have the heat on and you had eggs and cheesecake and perishables.
the building material and food is going to be the highest prices for you in that cabin, then comes the gas, propane and electrical service for living up there, a friend of mine has a large home in Denali. its costing him about 4000.00 month in food, fuel and electrical, his placing solar on the home and its going to cover abut 80 % of the electrical cost, that s 80% of the cost , but were seeing for the future
Omg! I had no idea the roads were that bad up there! Loved watching yall play with Harrison and getting stuff done! Can't wait to see your next adventure and how deep the snow gets!
Hi gang. First off, NO we don’t miss dealing with winter. No heated gloves, snow pants, scarves or shovels at our Costco in Florida. We dealt with winter too long in NY!🤣 Your Costco has got food stuff ours doesn’t. How you liking all the snow so early in the season from what I understand? Anchorage got a lot of snow. What do you do for Thanksgiving? Have company over? Harrison is a cute kid. Well, till next time. Take care.
Yes, we are definitely getting quite a bit of snow and earlier than usual. Anchorage is getting a lot! We can't wait to show you what we are doing for Thanksgiving 😊! Thanks, we think he's a cutie 🥰!
Your channel popped up because I enjoy Somers In Alaska, Bush Radical and Girl in the Woods. Now I've watched about 6 of your videos. Just love your family and channel. Some questions, did you live in Homer that first year? How far do you have to drive for your work? Was it hard finding the blue house you live in? Those home shows only show houses $500,000 and up which I still can't afford myself. Anyway, your Thanksgiving vid was great. We used to do that in my childhood on Dolly Sods, Randolph County WV. . Wow! And we'd be playing Cat Stevens for entertainment on our 8 track player. About 55-60 years ago.❤ I can't wait to see how big your channel gets. It's grown quickly!
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! So glad you are enjoying our videos and catching up on our journey so far 😊! We appreciate the support and kind words! No, we did not live in Homer. We looked for several months before finding a house. The inventory in Alaska is low and it's definitely more expensive to live, especially coming from Texas! Glad you liked the Thanksgiving video and thanks for sharing your memories 😊! That's what we are hoping to do with our son. We definitely have a lot of fun stuff planned and post every Sunday 😊! Take care!
How long does it take you to drive to Anchorage? Pretty intense ice and snow. Here in MB we drive 90 minutes south to get to Winnipeg and Costco. But we don't get the amount of snow that yous get there.
That kind of sucks, but guess there is no CostCo in Kenai or Soldotna yet. Can be a nasty drive to Anchorage that time of year for sure! Hopefully, they will get on in Kenai someday. Three Bears is kind of a mini CostCo......sort of.....
I heard from another Alaskan, they don’t salt there because it attracts moose, they come to lick the salt. I’m not sure about the sand. They use the gravel. I live in Mississippi. This was from another resident of Alaska.
Thanks so much for watching and joining us on our adventure from Mississippi 💗! Yes, they don't salt bc of the moose 😊🫎. It's also better they don't salt bc it then it doesn''t rust your car like when we lived in Wisconsin. We mainly just depend on studded tires. Thanks for your support 😊!

Thanks for watching 😊! It takes us about 3 hours to get there and 3 hours to get back. 6 hours round trip. Longer in the Winter. We do it all in one day.
I saw your comment about taking ~6 hrs to and back home from Costco, but ho many miles is it? And I thought it was bad having to drive 4 hrs round trip to Costco.
I hope you have CHAINS FOR TRUCK & stock up on staples. If you have a vacuum air machine cut pumpkin up & take out air than freeze they last for a year or two. ❤NZ❤
Wow, what a drive ! Would it be possible to just stock up every 6 months ?.. that way you wouldn't have to go out in winter...I watch ALONE in remote Alaska and she only stocks up twice a year...may not work as well for 3 people though...careful out there.. Alaska is my favorite state...you have a wonderful place to live
Thanks for watching 😊! We try to stock up as much as we can, but with needing diapers and other stuff it can be hard. Glad you like Alaska. Check out our weekly videos!

Greetings Good Living Alaska;
I just finished binge watching your 8 post with much delight.

Costco is like same store where I live store name is Sam club.
Thanks for watching 😊! Yes, we are familiar with Sam's when we lived in Texas.
The prices that you are raving about are actually way high-must be that prices are higher in Alaska. The only good deal was the pumpkin pie.
Thanks for watching 😊! Yes, the prices much higher for certain things.
How do you keep your chickens warm when he gets very very cold
We have a heat lamp in the coop for them and a heated water bowl. Thanks for watching 😊!

Salt on the road would attract too many moose, also it’s always bad in anchorage 😅 they don’t take care of the roads that well
Ha ha it would attract too many moose 😆! Thanks for watching! More adventures and fun to come!
How far is Costco from where y’all live?
Thanks for watching and joining us on our adventure 😊! Costco is 3 hours away from us and longer with the Winter weather!
I SAW THE BLUEBERRY ADVENTURE. NOT TO SCARE YOU, BUT, THERE ARE THIRTY THOUSAND BEARS IN ALASKA. BLACK, BROWN, GRIZZLY AND POLAR BEARS. MOST OF THEM LIKE BLUEBERRIES. GET YOURSELF A 44 MAGNUM.
Thanks for watching 😊! Oh we definitely were safe and had similar protection and bear spray!
When can you go skiing there in Alaska? When does it start ski season?
Ski season is usually November through May. We haven't gone skiing, but there is a nice resort called Alyeska near Anchorage.
Anchorage, a city of 290,000 people, can't keep their roads in good shape? wow.
Thanks for watching 😊! Probably not as good as they could.
