Lyrics
We used to play out in the rain
Your mother scolded us
She said that we were bad
(She said that we were bad)
I thought I'd better go on home (stepped it up and)
You watched till I was gone
Ooh, girl, you looked so sad
I picked you up when you fell and cut your knee
I told you not to cry and held you close to me
As I was running through the storm
To get my umbrella
I stopped in shock when I saw you
With another fellow, oh, wow
Can you remember the rain?
Can you remember the rain?
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
You broke so many rules in school
I took the blame for you
I guess I was the fool
You used to sneak me notes in class
I winked my eye and laughed
Those days went by so fast
I've got remarks that torn us all apart
I'm still tryna put back the pieces to my heart
And I'll be crying your name, girl
Until my very last breath
'Cause my existence without you
Ain't nothing but a little death
Gosh
Can you remember the rain?
Can you remember the rain?
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
Think about it, think about it

We once opened for the Spinners they asked if they could use our bar stools that we used while performing The way we were anyhow Our leader Freddie Williams closed the show singing Bad luck by teddy Pendergrass he killed the song took it to church and the lead singer of the Spinners was not very happy the whole group shook our hands but not him I always loved that group Felipe win and Freddie Williams RIH
This is so beautiful. ..they play it every week for "Take me back Thursday"..I thought it was the Jackson 5..but it's real music....ONE of the best. .Mad Love...
This has been my breakup song. It’s taken such a toll on me mentally and physically, but this song expresses every way I’m feeling. I miss and love her so much. this song eases the pain.
I have always loved this song, always will. It was different back then when you had to sing and you didn't have auto tunes to make you sound good. Either you had it or you didn't. I treasure this music as I grew up with it and it makes me smile every time I listen. Can't find it to purchase it though...too bad. Enjoy family.
I remember that I met them when I 25yrs they song this to me in birthday love you all. they went to school here in Chicago smile.

In 1975 I heard this song in the gymnasium of Robert Clemente High School in Chicago. I never did find out the name of the song, but I never forgot it's melody. Thirty three years later, I finally found it on TH-cam. It's a testament to the beauty and greatness of the song that decades later I still remember the rain and the song.

A days a thousand and a thousands a day I sung the lead on that original song at age 14 I’m now65 years young listening to you all compare me to a legend who had to many hits to list myself I’m grateful for one hit that fifty years later you would be singing and remaking not the Sylvers , Brighter side of Darkness Boys to men the Jackson 5 never would I have dreamed this but your even using my voice on your tracks I appreciate it so stop comparing and sing there hits as well and put there voices on your tracks hmm. Stack bundles a rapper from New York that passed away sampled this years ago, it was always beautiful to me. The sample

makes me happy that mr pierre can look back on here and get some love, i wish more older artists would tell us stories for songs like that, both songs are are awesome
Thank you Anime I’m honored Im no comparison, most artist are giants meaning tons of hits we barely had two, and now the way I see the business just a speck of success is humbling and your always free no security no I own you or your name just my two cents , who doesn’t want to hit the lotto it’s the consequences that we don’t see nor hear because we don’t understand.
@@wakepe1 still, I'm honored sir, this song is a classic that inspired one of my favorites from Mario, proud to say my people did that
...plus, this music then made it's way back and I'm glad
@@wakepe1 can you guys please get this song on iTunes like omg I’ve been trying to buy it for so long now😭😭
Asking us to get music we did fifty years ago is like asking the Beatles for an autograph lol it is what it is and chat is a hidden gem glad our youth pulled it up our talent is ours and yours is yours thanks for making Ours yours.
Oh wow, thank you for that comment to say I sound like the great MJ (lol) and people that know me personally ask me why I'm always smiling, and right a lot of folks never heard of us but for those who have, and especially the ones making this type of comparison, we love you madly

Yo this song is great
💯
@@kiddcarmine_thank you
@@wakepe1 of course man
Such a classic. We sampled this song in high school and made a song out of it then I discovered the original song and been in love ever since
Stack Bundles- Peep Game. The Riot Squad sampled it as well. Amazing song!
Very beautiful song. One of the guys singing sounds like Michael Jackson when he was a kid.
Man, that was good singing back then, and the members sound very, very young. 1975 was a great time musically. Now I'm love with yet another HOTT track....
Renee satchel,if you think you love this I can hip you to plenty more that you've never heard. Trust me,it will blow your mind.
This group is from my projects in Chicago and grew up with my mom and here siblings.... my dad was good friends with Tyrone lol that dude could box
HENRY HORNER, RIGHT?
Yes I grew up there
Cubie Ended up marrying my cousin
That's what's up
It just brings tears to my eyes .Old school music is the best.
What a beautifully haunting and fantastically performed song by ALL of these young men. Superb production and arrangement. It never gets old. It's an all-time favorite of mine and always in rotation in my musical mix while driving or working around the house. Pure creative magic!! Lots of kudos to Marvin Smith also.
think this group got out shined by jackson 5 they were out at the same time, and I think the label did not have the financial backing like motown... Great song the lead could stand against Michael at that time....
Yes Sir this song actually out chartered the Jackson's at the time and B.G had the song shut down because he was bringing out the J5....
Actually this group under a slightly different name,(21st Creation) did eventually end up on Motown. But not much ever became of them.
Several groups had incredible young vocalist that sounded similar in tone... Such as,(Brighter side of Darkness)- LOVE JONES) And a group y'all should definitely check out by the name of (Butterscotch) with the song, something has got to change.
The Jackson 5 were in the middle of leaving Motown when this record was released
Same could be said about the "Five Stairsteps". Great group, one of their album was co-produced by Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hatthaway and Leroy Hutson!
legendary top 5 for sure hidden gold. i could really feel thing song its painful but beautiful and i live for this
MASTERPIECE if ur happy and u listen to this u become happier but if u listen to this and ur sad ur gonna be more sad
I will always remember my dad slapping this when I was a kid in his 55 Chevy ahhhhh memories
S/O to Spitta For putting me on this classic joint ✊🏽

Wow, it's been more than 30 years that I've looked for this song. Thank you!!!! I heard it only a few times back in 1975, and of course, loved it!!!
My dad is Charley Sr I'm jr. 45yeas young and the bsy of six. Going out of town when I was a kid was a blessing this song is a gem. And because of Sr. I have so much inventory in my mind of classics of different genres endless music for my soul. I wake up to an automatic brain Playlist everyday and I just go along with it..
Classic R&B shall live on forever! To all the youths, please never stop crate diggin, even online.
This style & genre of music will forever be missed. I'm on 19yrs old. This was way before my time, but it doesn't hurt to take a back seat ride through the time your parents grew up in.
