- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 28 ก.ย. 2024
- Off of the R&B Lost & Found from Thump records. Originally release in 1975 on their album "Ahead of Our time" on the Kizzle Music/ Sunbury Music lable. Composer M. Smith. Group Members: Pierre Johnson, Alonzo Martin, Tyronne Morris, Alphonso Smith, and Fred Williams.
Lyrics:
We used to play out in the rain
Your mother scolded us
She said that we were bad
(She said that we were bad)
I thought I better go on home
(Stepped it off girl)
You watched till I was gone
Oh, girl you looked so sad
I picked you up when you fell and cut your knee
I told you not to cry and held you close to me
[Spoken]
As I was running through the storm
To get my umbrella
(Think about it, think, Think about it, think, Think about it, think,
Think about it, think, Think about it, think)
I stopped in shock when I saw you
With another fella
Oh, wow
{sung}
Can you remember the rain
Can you remember the rain
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
You broke so many rules at school
I took the blame for you
I guess I was a fool
You use to sneak me notes in class
I'd wink my eye and laugh
Those days went by so fast
Unkind remarks have torn us all apart
I'm still trying to put back the pieces to my heart
[Spoken]
And I'll be crying your name girl
Until my very last breath
(Think about it, think, Think about it, think, Think about it, think,
Think about it, think, Think about it, think)
Cause my exsitance without you
Ain't nothing but a little death
Gosh
{sung}
Can you remember the rain
Can you remember the rain
{music}
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
(Can you remember the rain)
Think about it, think about it
(Can you remember the rain)
Think about it, think about it
Oh
Baby, baby, baby, baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby
Baby, baby, baby, baby
{fade}

Sounds so much like a young Michael. Extreme talent
When you are young, black and talented that’s about it. 😭
Michael sounded like him
This also sounds like Foster Sylvers.
Thank you
@@phillip-michaelharris8032 no he sounded like Michael Jackson! This song came out in 1975 which Michaels voice was starting to turn into his adult voice for the rest of his life! Before 1975 he sounded like this so technically this guy sounded like a young Michael Jackson
Deep song. You can feel his pain. " You left me for somebody else"
Frank version for me
I was only 14yrs old at that time and if only anyone knew what pains I was experiencing at that age I didn’t know then that God was preparing me for bigger storms to come☔️I certainly am grateful to have had this one and only hit.
Also proud of all of you that are remaking the song using The original in your own way either way if someone else brought you here our original brought them here.!!!

Mr. Johnson's and MJ's voices as children give me chills. Masters of their craft!

The second that the chorus hit I got chills so hard I got tears in my eyes
Fr, the emotion he has in his voice is insane
I thought i was the only one
Oh my god such a masterpiece of a song. It’s so raw and you can feel the emotion. It gives me chills. I live for music like this
This sound made me cry , it just hits different
I cry real tears when I hear this song. Legit takes somewhere I’ve been.

This song will always be special to me. Im only 25 years old but I remember when my dad would sing this to me. He was always in and out of my life when I was a child . None the less tho he was always my favorite. This brings back my child hood because he and I have been through sooo much. I remember the rain and Im thankful that we still stand strong in our relationship. If anybody out there has a parent that hasn't been the best, FORGIVE THEM. No matter how hard it is. You only get that one.
You are only 25? You have the wisdom of a much older person. If the picture next to your name is really you, you are also very beautiful. Your dad has got a real winner for a daughter. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Rijeh G wow you're 28 now lol

LOS MIDNIGHTERS Cool, I'm glad you appreciate this and much props. What I don't get is why certain Chicanos (I'm not saying all) have beef with Black people while bumping old school Black hits.
You are a hero for putting the name of the true creators of the song, the whole internet thinks this song is by the group "The Sylvers"
That is because the Sylvers do sing it, and it almost sounds identical.
@@victorcox581Wait, this version sing 21st century or Sylvers? And if this is version by Sylvers, then where's 21st century version?
@@SharaD0mThis is the 21st Century version.
Khadja Bonet brought me here... listening to her sing this, I kept thinking wow this would sound so good with an Earth Wind & Fire, Chi-Lites, Blue Magic, Stylistics, Jackson 5, Delphonics era type of voice and to find out this came first, just confirmed everything. I'm so glad i I stumbled into this, I can't stop listening to it! It's beautiful. I wish there was a clearer mixed version of this tho. I listen to it on repeat for days now
Very beautiful song. One of the guys singing sounds like Michael Jackson when he was a kid.
Thank you NYC in 1975 we performed at Brooklyn High Sch. and while performing Remember the rain the entire audience had there umbrellas up, Brooklyn blew our minds, we love you.
Wow wish I was there for that! But yeah that was a New York song fo-sho! All 5 boroughs were crazy for that record!!!! I mean heavy.
I'm from Harlem, NYC.
We loved this Smash Hit.
This one was big in NYC, I was 17 yrs old in High School in Manhattan and this was the slow jam at house parties everywhere I went. Thanks for doing this one!
UNC Thank you Unc
Shawn Schoonmaker thank you and Harlem❤️❤️
think this group got out shined by jackson 5 they were out at the same time, and I think the label did not have the financial backing like motown... Great song the lead could stand against Michael at that time....
Yes Sir this song actually out chartered the Jackson's at the time and B.G had the song shut down because he was bringing out the J5....
Actually this group under a slightly different name,(21st Creation) did eventually end up on Motown. But not much ever became of them.
Several groups had incredible young vocalist that sounded similar in tone... Such as,(Brighter side of Darkness)- LOVE JONES) And a group y'all should definitely check out by the name of (Butterscotch) with the song, something has got to change.
The Jackson 5 were in the middle of leaving Motown when this record was released
Same could be said about the "Five Stairsteps". Great group, one of their album was co-produced by Curtis Mayfield, Donny Hatthaway and Leroy Hutson!
"I picked you up when you fell and cut your kneeeEeeEe... I told you not to cry and held you close to meeEEeEee!!" 😩😫... Who else is here cuz of BigXthaPlug??
What a beautifully haunting and fantastically performed song by ALL of these young men. Superb production and arrangement. It never gets old. It's an all-time favorite of mine and always in rotation in my musical mix while driving or working around the house. Pure creative magic!! Lots of kudos to Marvin Smith also.
My mom and dad always sang this song to me when I was baby. Memories ❤️
I still play this song. His voice was so crisp and clear.

We once opened for the Spinners they asked if they could use our bar stools that we used while performing The way we were anyhow Our leader Freddie Williams closed the show singing Bad luck by teddy Pendergrass he killed the song took it to church and the lead singer of the Spinners was not very happy the whole group shook our hands but not him I always loved that group Felipe win and Freddie Williams RIH

Possibly the most underrated song of all time
It's my brother Eston that i remember. In bad times and good times, we remain a cat and mouse.
My grandma always loved the song. those days go by so fast
Yes indeed, WHUR is a life savior. I run into songs like this from them when I need them most. They actually got me into searching for all the classic soul music. The funny thing is, a few teen groups in the 70's like "21st century" "black ivory" produced some of the deepest songs then. Why do you have teen group acts now that can't even approach this?
Beautiful song I grew up jamming to
Siempre vas a seguir descubriendo música hermosa

Not sure what happened to my earlier post, but, for those looking to add this to your music library, look for an compilation album called Soulful Thangs, Volume 1. On it, you'll also find the classic response song, Love Jones '75, by the Imaginations. The latter is the female response to the male classic, Love Jones, by the Brighter Side of Darkness. This one you can find on another compilation album called "Love Jones, The Best of Funk Essentials Ballads, Volume 2.
These are the classic sounds of my youth! To those new to it, "Welcome" to the classic soul sounds of the '70s!
