    Lyrics
We used to play out in the rain
    Your mother scolded us
She said that we were bad
(She said that we were bad)
I thought I'd better go on home (stepped it up and)
You watched till I was gone
Ooh, girl, you looked so sad
I picked you up when you fell and cut your knee
I told you not to cry and held you close to me
As I was running through the storm
    To get my umbrella
I stopped in shock when I saw you
    With another fellow, oh, wow
    Can you remember the rain?
    Can you remember the rain?
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
You broke so many rules in school
I took the blame for you
I guess I was the fool
You used to sneak me notes in class
I winked my eye and laughed
Those days went by so fast
I've got remarks that torn us all apart
I'm still tryna put back the pieces to my heart
And I'll be crying your name, girl
    Until my very last breath
    'Cause my existence without you
Ain't nothing but a little death
    Gosh
    Can you remember the rain?
    Can you remember the rain?
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
Think about it, think about it
Think about it, think about it
Think about it, think about it
    Oh! Baby, baby, baby, baby
    Baby, baby, baby, baby
    Baby, baby, baby, baby
    Baby, baby, baby, baby

This song will always be special to me. Im only 25 years old but I remember when my dad would sing this to me. He was always in and out of my life when I was a child . None the less tho he was always my favorite. This brings back my child hood because he and I have been through sooo much. I remember the rain and Im thankful that we still stand strong in our relationship. If anybody out there has a parent that hasn't been the best, FORGIVE THEM. No matter how hard it is. You only get that one.

+DaOrigTruthSeeker with that simplistic train of thought, white rock or pop music culture has declined too evident that all music in the 70s even the throw away pop stuff sounds like a work of art compared to todays .
Not so much to do with anybodys colour or race too do with modern music using more condenced recording process's and melody and thought being a thing of that past from the perspective of a gimick high present .

We used to play out in the rain
    Your mother scolded us
She said that we were bad
I thought I better go on home
You watched 'til I was gone
Ooh, girl, you look so sad
I picked you up when you fell
    And cut your knee
    Told you not to cry
And held you close to me
    Can you remember the rain
    Can you remember the rain
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
You broke so many rules in school
I took the blame for you
    I guess I was a fool
You used to pass me notes in class
I'd winked my eye and laugh
Those days went by so fast
    I got remarks
    That tore me all apart
Still trying to put back the pieces to my heart
    Can you remember the rain
    Can you remember the rain
You left me for somebody else
Now I must face life by myself
Can you remember the rain (think about it, think about it, think about it)

@@Roslynn846 if it was a present song maybe but we are not trying to promote our music that was already done in starting back in 1974 that’s why it’s a classic thanks to the internet you can still find bit somewhere I have a song on iTunes album titled whispers from the underground number 14 Pierre Johnson and I can’t get it on Spotify but again I’m a vocalist not a promoter I stay in my lane and do what I can ( sing) iTunes song is called Saturday nite scru

BigXthePlug sampling this is honestly what brought me here. Listening to the OG version after listening to renditions, I can’t stop listening to this on repeat. Wish it was on music apps.

I was born after, but I listen to a lot of 60’s and 70’s era music and I can’t believe I hadn’t heard this until now. Thank you to the beautiful Kadhja Bonet for covering it and leading me to find this original. It’s amazing!
