    You made great use of that little pack! Main bag is only 2200ci but with the 2 spotting scope pockets adds another 1200ci so 3400ci total and you have alot of gear!! Great video!! I would recommend stuffing your sleeping bag in the bottom of pack without the stuff sack it will fill all the air pockets in the pack and be protected alot better!

    I totally appreciate the fact that you don't really seem to worry much about your gear but I gotta say that just from the looks of it you could really up your enjoyment factor with just a few additional item or with some improvements on what you have. Weight and functionality, especially when you're doing 10 plus miles a day seems like a pretty good investment in the research and a few extra dollars.

    The Thru Hikers are required to hang food bags to prevent Black Bears becoming problems. Out west on the JMT and Parts of the PCT Hikers use Bear Canisters to Store food on the Ground ( Lack of Trees ). Any dry bag will work to hang food. A good choice for you would be the Ursack Major Bear Bag or Another Size. You would get a lot more chances of using it with all the Hunting and Stuff You Do on the Channel Etc. Also You tube Hanging Food Bag Vids. Its for the safety of the Bears Mostly. But it should be done properly and taken seriously. What Section you Hiking Around ?

    Now that is a dog lol. I love big dogs. This is a great video Allie. We are planning on going to a National Park Next Spring and I will defiantly be carrying but I understand why you don't. Especially in this Society. We go to Smokey Mountains every year. Never had a problem with the Bears there. But Be Careful. Also always stick to your group. National Parks have the most disappearances in the country every year. Look it up. Best not to split to far from the group.

      Johnny Boy, Dave Paulides. he is the guy that writes the missing 411 books. about people missing in national forest. Check the stories out on you tube. you will probably enjoy them ? very interesting. However I live just off the largest wilderness area east of the Mississippi. not to far from the smokey mountain national park. I spend many days and nights a year in the remote wilderness miles from any other person and off the trails, ALONE. there is nothing to fear man. like I said the most peaceful and safest place's on earth. don't let fear of the unknown stop you from enjoying the wilds. that's silly.

    Hi allie great information. .. I have a couple packs. Unfortunately my days are past since I can't carry more than 10 pounds since my accident. ...I do miss backpacking.
    I may go packing with my 4 wheel drive jeep... anyways I think it is a wise decision to carry mace since their is bears there.
    I know black bears are not supposed to attack people but you never know.
    Another item you might consider is a compass...
    Btw did you have an antelope tag and did you get one? ?? Have a great trip...God bless you ...curt

    Hello... I have a question and I have no idea if you or anyone can answer this regarding food. I'm a type 1 diabetic and food (along with insulin and my solar charger for my insulin pump & Continuous Glucose Monitoring system) is tops on my list. I consume a ton of calories while hunting. I have too and it doesn't matter how much I reduce my basal dosage. What are the best foods to bring? I bring Mountain House and other various dehydrated fruits and protein bars. Also, being comfortable means body burns less calories which assists my blood sugar. Would you know any diabetics who hunt the west? If any type 1 diabetics hunt the west, I'm quite interested in what you bring.

    • @OutdoorsAllie
      @OutdoorsAllie  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't. Props to you, that must be a challenge. I usually pack caloric dense foods like nuts, fried fruits, mountain house, sausage & cheese, protein bars, etc. Do you struggle with packing enough food?

    • @ericwiitala5407
      @ericwiitala5407 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sausage & cheese?? The fats in this situation might help. Hhhmmmm... You just gave me a thought. Yeah, I pack a ton of food and I hope through it. This week I ascended and descended almost 6000 vertical feet & hiked about 15 miles and it took everything I had to maintain my blood sugars. But, what I didn't do is pack much fats which may be the trick. 😊

      mark. i'm considered a gun nut. when I am long distance hiking. I do not carry. why ? just no real need to. plus the extra weight just drags you down. just me. I do not care if anyone else does, in fact I like camping with them if they do.

    • @RicMor200
      @RicMor200 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      In a way, taking a gun on a hike such as this one is like taking bear spray in bear country, you gotta have it on you and be ready to pull the trigger in a few seconds notice. If it's inside the pack... too late. It's like needing it, and not having it... Worse actually, it's more like "not having it" but still carrying the dead weight.

      So i guess people who hike their own hike aren'r real backpackers? GTFO with that pushing overpriced overhyped UL gear that all these "Real Backpackers" are subliminally telling people that they have to be UL to have a good time. UL has its place but most sacrifices safelty and comfort. She can carry what she wants, I can carry what I want and you carry what you want. I'm so tired of the gear wars. The point is to have fun and enjoy the outdoors and not be critiqued on every silly gram. Go Allie. Keep on doing what you are doing 👍

      Lol sounds like someone learned from a real asshole how to be an asshole. Nothing wrong with what Allie has here. You sound like the same kind of prick who says you have to shoot a 1500 bow to be a real bow hunter. I know people who 10 year old budget bows and wear K-mart clothes who are more knowledgeable about the outdoors and more skilled hunters and outdoorsmen (and women) than most of you pro shop gear gurus. So you go Allie, ignore the negativity.

      Out of the 3-4 different packs I've used this one seems to fit me best.

    I would carry a firearm no matter where you go. Hope you have a safe trip and have fun.

    Call it a "load out" love. Not a "bag dump". I thought you were just emptying your purse there for a sec. "Load out" woodsman speak for "here's my gear!"
