To all those rare folks stumbling here. Be proud that you are not affected by the shitty so-called trending music these days. This right here is a gem. Being a huge fan of progressive rock music I just can't enough of Anathema. Love from India. Any Indians reading this just know that you guys are rare in this era of AP Dhillon bs.
indian here! anathema made it to my top 5 artists last year on Spotify. waiting for this year's wrapped to come out. pretty sure anathema will make it to top 5 again. you have a good taste in music my friend!
My mum passed away yesterday morning and I’m a wreck. She loved some of the Anathema songs I showed her. Knowing they’ve gone through this is comforting. Love you mum ❤
The fact that this group never had more success is really sad. So many amazing albums, deeply emotional songs like this one... Today Anathema is dead 😢 but I hope some people will continue to listen to 'em and recognize them as an amazing metal AND progressive rock band
I honestly don't know how playing this song live over and over again isn't obscenely draining for them. I uncontrollably cry every single time I hear it. It's such a painful song. I commend them for being able to.
Just imagine the fact that he wrote the song for their mother... Dude, the STAMINA, the DETERMINATION... It's beyond words... I feel you... This song is the breaker of souls.
When you actually know i'ts about a mom, and you can feel the same because your gramma was your mom. Thanks Vincent and Danny, remember that stupid time we had in Tunisia, :-)
How I needed you How I grieve now you're gone In my dreams I see you I awake so alone I know you didn't want to leave Your heart yearned to stay But the strength I always loved in you Finally gave way Somehow I knew you would leave me this way Somehow I knew you could never, never stay And in the early morning light After a silent peaceful night You took my heart away And my being In my dreams I can see you I can tell you how I feel In my dreams I can hold you And it feels so real I still feel the pain I still feel your love I still feel the pain I still feel your love And somehow I knew you could never, never stay And somehow I knew you would leave me And in the early morning light After a silent peaceful night You took my heart away Oh I wish, I wish you could have stayed
man, we miss anathema on stage ,it's really lovley this band famous in countries of middle east and Balkan more than any places in this world.. my times in Syria then turkey was for this band ,the only one who can bring me home with their music . love you anathema wish to see you now in Austria
I've been listening to everything Anathema - night and day - for over a week now. I simply cannot get enough of them lately. As always, their music, deeply personal lyrics, passion, and ardently expressive performances touch every tender part of me deep down to my core. Vinny and Danny bare their souls and that's exactly where the connection is. Anathema is the only band that has ever moved me so thoroughly. Every song is like an exquisite ravishment by a lover. 🔥💖🌀 May their mom rest in peace; her heart shining like the sun, showering love down upon them and lighting their path every step of the way.

Yes, it definitely works. This song was written about the death of their mother; they're nearly in tears, so of course the vocals are a hot mess. But, as you know, all of that is part of what makes them such an amazing band. :)
normally they don't, but here it sounds very similar due to the raw pain in their voices when singing this particular song. it's the pain behind it that makes it so.

So painful masterpiece...like a whole "judgement "...
Love anathema from Iran I have been listening to anathema as 2006 to 2024 !!
I still don't believe they're disbanded.
You know its a band from the late 90's, i think its pretty normal

they've known each other since they were 11 years old, Vinny and John. John knows what the song means to the 3 of them.

No kidding they’re a hot mess, but that’s also the attitude of the song, isn’t it? Quite interesting.

Seems like they were a bit worn and drunk here too, albeit that gives the song even more character than it normally did.
