He only talks about the first part of it. After security, you have to wait to board, then sit (or try to sleep) on a plane for 6-12 hours (or more) and try to choke down whatever they're feeding you, only to wind up somewhere that's asleep when you want to be awake and awake when you want to be asleep, you can't understand a word anyone says, your money doesn't work, and you can't have the food you're used to. And all of your toys are half a world away. And all your friends. Something invariably goes wrong--you forget something, something is broken, your reservations don't show up, and/or you get sick. I guess there are good parts too.
I've been a fan of Eugene Levy since the SCTV days. He and Catherine O'Hara are really great on "Schitt's Creek" and so is his son, Dan Levy. Dan has the funniest way of working his eyebrows 🤣
He’s truly one of the greatest! You can broaden the mind without traveling! I’ve met an awfull lot of closed minded travelers! Broadened mind’s come from within!
I'm with Levy. Traveling used to be fun but now you have to endure a miserable dehumanizing torture session that delivers you to your destination drained and possibly ill.
For those that are curious about what a companion of Canada means: "The Order recognizes people in all sectors of Canadian society. Their contributions are varied, yet they have all enriched the lives of others and made a difference to this country. This honour is administered by the Chancellery of Honours at Rideau Hall." I've liked his material and projects as he has moved further along in his career. When he first started, I wasn't a big fan, but he seems to be a very good person and he is funny as hell.
Thank you John Green for doing Eugene Levy eyebrows in the Project For Awesome Livestream on the weekend, forcing me to google Eugene Levy and hence unknowlingly preparing me for watching this interview.
I've been enjoying Eugene Levy's humour since the 1970s and he keeps getting better. I think it's because he was a skit comedian, not a standup... maybe lol
Eugene Levy was kind of a weird looking guy when he was younger. It's part of what made him so funny! But now, let's face it, I would kill to look as distinguished as he does. He has aged so much better than a lot of people, especially me.
Yes, Mr. Levy. Thank you for not diminishing the honour the country tried to pay you. Too many Canadian celebrities trivialize such things to others - "Oh, it's only a national thing at home." I appreciate that you did not.
Mr. Levy has been one of my favorites since to SCTV days. The Chris Guest films would not be the same without him. He and Catherine O'Hara are the best on screen couple I’ve ever seen. Love Mickey and Mitch, look them up…..
The first dance at my wedding reception was almost "Kiss at the End of the Rainbow". He is absolutely brilliant in A Mighty Wind. The record covers always get me!
I love traveling. It's just that not being able to poop in a strange bathroom for the first five day. But on the bright side, as of April 19th, I won't have to take my shoes off at TSA anymore. Ah the advantages of being 75.
In 1990 I found myself on a lawn maintenance crew working on Levy's house in Toronto. I was a MASSIVE SCTV fan. Working the trimmer in the back yard I tried to catch a glimpse into his beautiful home. I suddenly saw him approach the big glass sliding door. My heart leaped at the thought of him possibly saying hi to me. Instead he reached up with two hands and closed the opaque window treatment to shut out my prying eyes. So crushed. But who can blame him.
This travel show reminds me of a skit that Levy did on SCTV. A character he played on the show now and then was like a member of the Rat Pack. In a couple of sketches on one show the character quits the biz and moves out to the country. The character, "Bobby Bitman" is a city guy and has never been to the country. After saying to an interviewer how great it is, he later admits it was a mistake and goes back to the city. That sounds a little like Schitt's Creek.
Two things: 1) love the band opening with the schitt’s creek theme. I know they do this sort of thing often but I love it every time 2) levy’s comedic stylings remind me so much of jonathan goldstein
I love Stephen! He always spots the Order of Canada pin. Martin Short and Lorne Michaels are in the Order as well and I have seen them on American TV with that pin. And I have seen it myself. People I know are IN the Order of Canada.
Eugene Levy says he's not a comedian. Maybe not in the classic sense of Martin Short or Steve Martin - both longtime friends of his - but yes, in his understated way, he is absolutely a comedian.
Two comedians come to mind that can move an audience to the floor howling with laughter with just a dead pan look. Jack Benny and Eugene Levy, those of you to young to have heard of Jack Benny please look him up, do the TH-cam thing and be prepared laugh your backside off.
One of the funnest people alive. Thank you Eugene Levy!
National treasure! Canadians are all so proud of him and his family!
He is so BELOVED. Great rep for Canada .❤
How can you not love Eugene Levy? ❤❤❤
We need to put together some sort of appreciation group - Levy's Lovies, or some such...
Have been enjoying his humour since the 1970s and it gets better all the time.
It can’t be done. That would violate the laws of physics.
I saw Gene on the Second City stage in Toronto in 1974 before SCTV ... Still a charmer!🤗
Well done, Mr. Levy. Canada is proud 🇨🇦 🍁 🦫
Here in the Pacific Northwest, we consider Canada our best neighbor- far better than Idaho, Nevada and California.....Thanks for being you...

This is giving prime grumpy grandpa energy and I’m so here for it
His views on traveling are 1000% mine. This hit home hard ♥️
Can’t exactly hit anywhere else if ya never leave! 🥸
I seem to only want the Samantha from Bewitched form of travel. 🙃 I want to BE places, but the getting there seems not worth it to me.
@@lorinichols9996 I think that every time I board an airplane but it is soooo worth it in the end 😄

That “companion” is higher than “officer” is the most Canadian thing, I love it.

I'm a writer of fiction so I sit in a room & travel telepathically.
The eyebrows deserve their own award.
I'm with Levy. Traveling used to be fun but now you have to endure a miserable dehumanizing torture session that delivers you to your destination drained and possibly ill.
Very true for air travel. Train travel on the other hand is still fun for me :)
He is great, I started watching him when Second City was on TV. I have enjoyed his comedic talents ever since.
A big honour, and a well deserved one!
Congratulations on this honor. 😀😀His contributions to comedy 🎭 need no explanation and makes his country proud! 🇨🇦
We want out of the colonial crap, actually.
At first, I misread your comment and thought it was "...a well dressed one"
@@globalwarmhugs7741 The Order of Canada was instituted precisely in order to get rid of "the colonial crap."
Aw, you're sweet. Thanks!
A treasure! 🇨🇦
He is a true Canadian treasure.
My sentiments exactly. Airports and security are the worst no matter where you go. It’s like you’re a criminal who needs to prove his innocence.

The Green brothers always have a finger on the pulse of pop culture.
I've been enjoying Eugene Levy's humour since the 1970s and he keeps getting better. I think it's because he was a skit comedian, not a standup... maybe lol
That was such a great P4A moment! I highly recommend the show Schitt’s Creek for more Eugene Levy.
Love ya , Mr. Levy…been following you since SCTV! Thanx for all the fun!!!
Eugene Levy is my spirit animal
😂🥰
Eugene Levy was kind of a weird looking guy when he was younger. It's part of what made him so funny! But now, let's face it, I would kill to look as distinguished as he does. He has aged so much better than a lot of people, especially me.
And this view of traveling is why the show is perfect
Stephen holding in his laughter is gold.
Love Eugene Levy, naturally brilliant comedian 🥰,
Actual legend.
My grandfather got the Order of Canada and I couldn't be more proud
This is giving me Idiot Abroad vibes. But if Eugene's involved I probably won't mind being tricked into learning some schitt.
Very clever.
Eugene Levy: americas canadian national treasure.
Already binged 4 episodes. Amazing show.
Yes, Mr. Levy. Thank you for not diminishing the honour the country tried to pay you.
Too many Canadian celebrities trivialize such things to others - "Oh, it's only a national thing at home."
I appreciate that you did not.
The pitch idea sounds kinda like Karl Pilkington in "An Idiot Abroad", very much looking forward to seeing Reluctant Traveller
That Eugene Levy show sounds good. It looks like I found the next show to binge.
Love Mr Levy. He’s great in everything he acts in, especially with Tyler Perry and Queen LaTefa
The "Reluctant Traveler" channels "An Idiot Aboard" with Ricky Gervais and Karl Pilkington. Love Eugene Levy.
Man, hearing the Schitts Creek intro music puts you in a good mood right away.
End credits roll if we're being extra picky, but your point is will taken. That series is a comfortable place with extra snark.
Eugene Levy is a genuine or Eugene-you-in heavy. He's certainly engagingly grumpy, or at least persnickety.
Love Eugene Levy!! The Reluctant Traveler was epic!!
We love you as our companion, Mr. Levy!
Mr. Levy has been one of my favorites since to SCTV days. The Chris Guest films would not be the same without him. He and Catherine O'Hara are the best on screen couple I’ve ever seen. Love Mickey and Mitch, look them up…..

Yep, 6 weeks of basic training and not a single poop the entire time.
never heard of this dude in my entire life but i must say he has aged elegantly
He makes Canada so proud.
Wow 45 years! Congratulations Eugene Levy & wife!
We are living in peak Eugene Levy and it's a gift
He is great in everything.
Eugene Levy is America's Dad! I miss "American Pie" societies innocence was bliss!
Canada is truely happy to lend him whenever needed
@@amereminion he is for Canada what Mr Bean is for England.
Deb aside, I don't think it's possible to love this man more. ❤
Love it... My thinking is just the same. Can't go anywhere without all the options.
2 giants from Second City. One Canadian and the other American. Chef's kiss.
A great Second City connection!
I guess I need to watch the whole segment before I comment 😆
lol priceless that Colbert recommends travel after Eugene just spent five minutes explaining how much he dislikes it. 7:33
One of the smartest.. funniest man on earth
I used to love when they showed audience applauding the guests when the guests entered, showed when a guest got a Standing O. I hope Eugene got one!
Serendipity is where I first saw this awesome man - I would watch him in anything xx
😆 Eugene Levy is so great! This is similar to England's Travel Man with Richard Ayoade.
The few times that I've traveled, I DO THE SAME THING, I LIKE OPTIONS🤷♀️
A national treasure! Congratulations Canada!
I HEAR you Eugene! I like options too!😅😅😅
💕Eugene Levy💕🌟💕
Hahaha the amount I relate to Eugine on this topic just tells me how old my soul is 😂

Nothing wrong with staying home, maybe a little mini-putt, a movie 📽️🎞️🍿🥤and friends!!😃🇨🇦
Awesome 👍👍👍👍😀 Greetings from Helsinki, Finland 🇫🇮🇺🇸🇨🇦
The idea of Reluctant Traveler reminds me of the old travel series An Idiot Abroad.
One of my fave Eugene Levy movies was Splash.
Any news from Colbert about his stay on *EPSTEIN ISLAND* ? He's on the visitor list! 8

I hate traveling too. Hassle. Hassle. Hassle. But I'll gladly watch you hate it! Love your comedy.
You need options.. I mean, you never know when you're gonna meet a snake with pretty eyes.
I’m watching the show now for first time. He kills me… luv it!
The 6 yr old & reindeer 😂😂
I love how Eugene had an epiphany and realized he could take his wife on their honeymoon after all those years.
Two things:
1) love the band opening with the schitt’s creek theme. I know they do this sort of thing often but I love it every time
2) levy’s comedic stylings remind me so much of jonathan goldstein
We love you mister Levy Rock On You Royal Canadian
I always overpack too. It's all exhausting 😂 but I do love to travel 🧳
The most impressive and expressive eyebrows in the history of comedy.
Iconic
You’ll notice Martin Short and Lorne Michaels (and others) always wear their Order of Canada pin. High honour.
They are required to during public appearances
I love Stephen! He always spots the Order of Canada pin. Martin Short and Lorne Michaels are in the Order as well

1790? My hometown of Halifax, NS was founded by Edward Cornwallis in 1789...
"A Canadian Abroad"
Karl Pilkington approves.
Bro Eugene, this is so much funnier than the American Pie stuff. This is legit clean naturally hilarious, UR BEST STUFF BY FAARRR!!!❤😅😂
I love this guy! And his son! I mean, those amazing killer eyebrows!
"Just write it off!".............."You can't just WRITE IT OFF!"
What a Charmer ❤️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🇨🇦🍁

Watching it now!
I watched this show it was a wonderful show. It is on Apple TV +
frickin love this guy

He's so right.

Sir Eugene, get Nexus. Glad to have you as a companion
His eyebrows are a national treasure.
Schitt$ Creek got me through the early days of the pandemic lockdown. It was a brilliant show
Interesting show surely with him on it
I worked with him on Maniac Mansion. Awesome man!
