    Good luck Maggie! I had this done in 1981 and it went ok for me, and they hadn't even invented laparoscopic surgery at that time. I'm betting on YOU, kiddo!

    Funny that I've never had a sweet tooth, but whenever my weight dropped under 100 lbs, which was often, I'd crave high calorie sweets. My 'go-to' was ice cream, in particular Banana Split. Turkey Hill is theeeeee best.

    I'm not sure exactly when or why I started watching your videos and following, but if I never remember, this video alone is reason enough! (Beyond you/your channel being fun to watch AND educational 😉) I don't have IBD, Chrons or UC, but I do have a lot, possibly all, of the same nutritional based deficiencies. I had BPD/DS (biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal Switch) surgery 17 years ago. Long and short (pun absolutely intended lol) I had weight loss surgery that decreased the amount I could eat AND removed a significant portion of my intestines to decrease the amount of calories I'd absorb. I'm 5'1 and weighed 250 lbs; I'm now 125 lbs. However, I battle getting enough calories, protein, and fluid. I've also not always been great at following the basic rules of Post-Op bariatric surgery. I have a handful of ongoing medical problems, including... Osteoporosis (I'm 45 y/o; I have the bones of a 90 y/o) anemia which requires infusions every so often, venous insufficiency due to protein malnutrition at certain points, critically low vitamin E, etc. I apologize for this super LONG ASS comment. 🤦🏼 The whole stinkin point is to thank you for educating me/us how to calculate our needs, discussing why/how things are necessary, and lastly, for the vitamin recommendation. I know its specific for IBS, but I'm willing to bet they'd be good for anyone with compromised/altered intestinal absorbtion, no matter the reason. 😁

    Very informative! When I had my big endometriosis surgery with bowel resection I wasn't getting enough calories, protein or fluids due to swallowing issues. I was very underweight. I was dehydrated. I felt awful. I don't know I managed to heal as well as I did with no infections or complications. I got lucky I guess.

    Since I’ve had my ostomy my multi vitamins are chewy gummy ones. I found my vitamins in my ostomy bag after the surgery. I also crush my meds because I found my celexa in my bag. Do you have that problem? Good luck with your surgery.❤️💕❤️💕

    Hi Maggie. Thank you for doing this video. I think about how my intake affects my healing a lot. So here's something I'm up against. Last week I had a Ostomy revision done because I had a prolapse. The surgeon found one leetle spot of Crohn's on the prolapsing bowel 2" from the orginal suture and elected to only remove 4" of the bowel and re-sutured it to create a smaller ostomy opening (to hinder prolapsing again). So I am doing good, just have a healing suturized ostomy. But wait there's more. Monday I had to visit the surgeon because I'm getting an infection. Abdominal wall infection. So he started me on an anti biotic to get rid of and get ahead of any further infection. So here's my question... Does the anti-biotic slow down healing? Of course it was a path the surgeon feels we have to take, I'm thinking ultimately without it, it'd be a mess with the infection. I'm sure that would hinder healing. So on a different note... Most Diabetics heal slower than most people. I live that. I'm Type 1 for 50 years now. But you say sugars assist with healing?... Hmm... My diet consists of NO table sugar, No sodas, No high fructose anything. Wow....

    It’s really rare with supplements that taste good! I have a B12 supplement that I take when I remember it (I’ve been deficient 10 years ago and took injections then for a year) and those B12 tablets I have now, they have the most amazing raspberry flavor ever! Best of all is that they’re on the vitamin shelf at the pharmacy so it’s not like it’s a prescription vitamin even, nor is it for children. But just wow, I do wish they’d make candy with that raspberry flavor lol

    Very informative. Nice to know there's a company that makes such a vitamin for uc or Crohn's patients.

    Hi Maggie, I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis in 2009. I still take Asacol 800 mg 2 times a day. I'm on remission for 6 or 7 years. Should I take supplements if I don't have an ostomy ?

    After I had my c-section I had to have a wound vac and go to wound care for a while. They told me alllll the time to eat a lot of protein.

    Just a tiny note that if the vitamin company sent the product for you to review or if you get any money or anything from people using the discount code then I believe you're legally obligated to disclose it - in fact I think you have to say that there is paid promotion in the first few minutes of the video and then at the top of the description or something like that. I'm only sharing my understanding of how the law works and I live in the UK (so I'm kind piecing together what I've heard from USA based youtubers and what I know from the UK) but it might be something you want to double check to make sure you're following all the guidelines properly - I'd hate for you to get into any trouble when you're only trying to share a great product!

    • @LetsTalkIBD
      @LetsTalkIBD  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm aware! I am not making money off of this and say it was sent to me. I'll put in description as well just to be sure!

      @@LetsTalkIBD ok, I'm really sorry if I upset you at all :/ I love your channel and everything you do. I know in the UK (and I think Australia) you have to disclose you were sent the product right at the start of the video (Not sure why tbh) and so just wanted to make sure you weren't going to get in any trouble.
