You'd figure it out after a brief struggle, but why struggle? To remove the bulb from its socket, you may have to depress a tab on the back of the socket. It doesn't appear that Ed had to, but for my 2015 Outback I had to.
Mine has it on a 2017 outback 2.5i limited and I couldn’t find a video but it’s also easy to replace just harder to spot. Twist the round housing cover to remove it, twist the square metal connector inside the housing to remove it, then twist the bulb to remove it. The back of the bulb is round and flush to the surface. Looks like a cigarette lighter. You have to pinch two metal holding clips out of the way on each side to remove the bulb. Phillips brand HID was $55 a bulb at the time of this posting. The only HID they had in stock at advanced auto was Sylvania and it was $180 😳
The other side requires removing parts to get to the bulb, so it's not THAT easy. Also, that's the high beam bulb. The side marker and the turn signal bulbs are HARD AS HADES to replace.
Need to mention types of bulbs ie I don't have eyesight on my 2015 limited outback. Plus can you explain bulb options? I would like to replace all of my bulbs so why not include high and low beams.
Thank you so much. You have no idea how much seeing this only take 30 seconds helped me.
FYI - That's the 9005 High Beam
Yep that f’ed me up…
I was literally about to pay my dealership 100$ to do this for me thank you.
🙏 thank you! I actually think I can do this myself 😊

That was incredibly easy. Why don't other automakers make it this easy?
Thanks…easier than I thought!
Glad it helped!
Hey, thanks for this. It helped be out!
Thank you you just save me money
Good video. Can you please explain how to replace the side marker lights ? I hope it is just as easy. Thanks
Have you investigated how to replace the DS4 Xenon bulb in a Gen 5 Outback that is equipped with HID headlights?

Is there a vid on how to adjust the beam vertically?
The bulb you are saying is the low beam is actually the high beam.
Passenger side seems blocked. Is that the high or low beam bulb you replaced?
Thanks mister
Good stuff, thank you!
Changing the low beam is a little more difficult due to a metal bracket in the way of pulling out the bulb.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you comrade
my 18 highbeams came rite out, the low beams just don’t twist, i’ didn’t figure them out yet,
What about the headligh ton the passenger side?
Isn't this the daytime running light, not the low beam?

There is no mention of pressing the harness tab to release bulb
Hi. What’s the model year of your car?
Thank you
That’s the high beam not the low beam. It uses a different bulb.

The headlight bulb is separate from the DRL, right?
The DRL light comes from the exact same bulb as the highbeam light.
That is the high beam bulb..😂
you da man ed.
Yo =)
this video sucks, what about the passenger side?
