Yes, that 280cc king quad was an amazing machine. I sold suzukis, Hondas, yamaha, & kawi. that machine didn't look like much but it would out work anything.
Boy, I thought Papa Leo aced this one until you started covering all that was not perfect on the Scrambler. This could be a close challenge. Turns out, $1500 don't get much in Michigan. 😅
I had a 2000 king quad 300 4x4... best quad i had back in the 90's era. Those sub transmissions are bad ass. We use to cut a lot of firewood to heat our house so we needed a good quad and trailer. When I got this quad we would just cut down the tree and drag parts of it back to the house to cut them up, lol. I bet money on the king quad. Little underpowered but for its time it was a great quad.
The 450 quads had their time. I built em all into serious race quads, people would dump 10's of thousands into them.....and I'd smoke em all on a YZ250 with PC exhaust. Bikes are just faster. They are fun but there's a reason the only 450 made is the Yamaha. Renegade and Scrambler 1000's are just as fast and 4wd (3x the price too). I don't think they'll make a comeback which is sad. Even the 80's had some awesome quads. The holy grail 250R, the faster in a straight line Kawi Tecate 250, the LT250, and then the bad boys.....the Banshee and Quadzilla. Wish they'd have kept making them all through the 2000's like the Banshee.
The sport 400 is the fastest of the bunch. The scrambler is the best choice probably. Ive been wanting to find one for years. I loved the old polaris 2 strokes.
You guys laugh at Matt's quad all you want. He has the most reliable of the bunch! In high range they are pretty quick for a 300 too. Either Matt or Doug I think will win this challenge. Pretty excited for this quad series!

I bought my wife a Polaris magnum 425 4x2. Never sounded good and let it sit a month and it never ran right. Thankfully sold that. The short period it before I let it sit for a month it ran great.
I had a Suzuki Quad Runner 250 4x4 looks just like Matt's quad. Smoothest riding ATV ever. You load some weight on and it will pull anything! Super Low range 1st gear you touch the throttle and its at max rpm.

Concentric drive is the chaindrive style that keeps constant chain tension under all suspension loads by aligning the swingarm pivot with the front drive sprocket . Nothing to do with the CVT.
Nice, this is going to be the best challenge ever. I have a 1998 polarirs 400 sport 2 stroke but will not engage forward, only reverse, and I can't find the parts or a used transmission anywhere to fix it but is like new

It's not great at anything but who cares its a little tractor!! If you have a towing competition no doubt the King in lowest gear will dominate!!! Can't wait to see what you guys do!!!
Me and my friends did this last year! $1,500 budget and headed to Busco Beach. Was called “Beaters and Beers”. One of the most fun times we have ever had 😂

I picked up a 2001 Grizzly 600 in 2016 for $1,900 (sold it 3 years later for $2,500) but that thing was a beast. It's actually fairly light in the front end and the straight rear axle made sliding in corners a breeze. You'll have fun with it I'm sure!
I'm pretty jealous of Doug's quad... I'm in the Davison/otisville area and finding a cheap 4wd quad isn't easy right now. Can't wait to see them flying through the woods.

Ngl Matt’s quad is gonna be such a turtle but it will out work and pull any of the other quads. It’s literally a utility quad. I think Doug’s gonna be sitting in the top spot if he cleans the carb and puts some fresh gas in. Grizzly’s run pretty good.
IF they all get running decent I’ll go with Leo or Doug. But there will be break downs and although Matt will be slow I think his will stay running so he is the sleeper.
I had one of those King quads mine was an 88 and it was a beast. Dont luagh at it too hard. it made it through everything my Brute force did but a little slower. I would love to have that quad.
The saddest part is that 5 years ago all these would be under $500 and would be good cheap fun

Most don't have brakes let alone front ones sooo burn outs are kind of hard especially on utility quads like these only 1 sport quad in the bunch
