all it takes is one look to the attributes tab to know this is a pointless comparison because each set has different atk and crit stats so if by straight to the point you mean there is no info to get from this then sure, it did so very efficiently
@@hachira True, but the similarity in stats and the similar damage output for all of them results in the conclusion that all these sets are good, just pick the one you have with the best substats. Also, although shimenawa does the most normal atk dmg, take into account the lack of burst uptime which is a buffer and increased damage for Ayato. Honestly all these sets are basically the same outputting damage if you view it that way. I wish Genshin added some kind of character simulator mode (Like the beta stage but in game) where you can select a character and place the exact same stats on an artifact, optimal for testing artifact sets.

Halzion yep, as the other person said, I meant the new set (Echoes and Vermillion domain), not the Shim ^^” Momiji domain is op and the best to farm, on the contrary, and I fully support that.
yoimiya's damage will be less with echoes. her NA has multiple hits, and each one of them have very different scaling with the last hit being nearly double of her first hit. so if her echoes buff procs on low scaling hits, it will do less dmg. ayato's each slash has very similar scaling with the third hit being only 20% higher. This allows him to do pretty much same dmg no matter when the echoes buff procs.
Shimenawa is the strongest but reduce energy, the new artefact looks the best but... Gladiator and HoD are more consistent, I think HoD is the strongest for burst

In terms of consistency I'd rather say the new EoO set is better than HoD set. It's because most of time you deal more damage during E with that set. In the long run EoO set is always better than HoD and that's what video shows. In fact I can even give you some numbers because I wrote a simple program that "performs" a really high number of E attack sequences so I can compare average damage dealt with EoO set to the other sets. Of course, differences in damage depend on different factors, like, for instance: elemental DMG bonuses, atk% substats, from other sources and other (than from EoO) flat DMG bonuses. Not going much into details, when using Ayato's signature weapon and with average stats from artifacts, you deal about 13-14% more DMG during E with EoO in relation to HoD. When using Amenoma Kageuchi it's only about 3-4%. With good amount of other flat DMG bonuses, like from Yun Jin burst, this advantage drastically drops and HoD can deal more. This is because other flat DMG bonuses kinda understate the value of flat DMG bonus from EoO set. It'll be even up to 10% more with signature and 3% more with AK sword. I assume you have Yun Jin with 13 lvl Burst and some good DEF% artifacts on her. Edit: I corrected damage formula and values changed. Checked some other weapons. Now with some nice Flat Damage bonus from other source, damage with HoD can exceed that with EoO. Just like when using Shimenawa set but Shimenawa gets even few % better.

I never actually noticed that the title of the pyro regisvine is sometimes different until this video. Well I'll go beat up the other bosses several times to see if it's the same for them.
Remember guys the difference is very small and it’s based a lot on your substats and weapon, so choose what is best for you, don’t limit yourself to the shimenawa set if you have better or similar HoD, gladiator or echoes sets.

great video! my personal tip for those with jade cutter is to ideally run HOD, this is because jade cutter already gives you so much atk% the hydro% from the 2 piece would benefit your ayato a lot more compared to atk% from 2 piece glad. jade cutter + 2 piece atk% + substats + potential supports would mean diminishing returns on atk%. otherwise i hope everyone has a great time building ayato!
@@gooeyribs4128 the black sword with 4 piece HOD is perfectly fine, i also don’t suggest farming for echoes if you’re an older player as it’s more likely for you to have better HOD/glad pieces, however if you want the other set for xiao for example then go ahead and farm the echoes domain. otherwise black sword with hod is good!
My easiest solution for Shimenawa is two part: - Use Fischl - The rotation starts with Ayato Burst > switch to other characters > back to Ayato and do his Elemental Skill slashes.
Use ayato ult before the rotation and you get the 15 energy by the time you switch back to ayato to activate the shimenawa passive. Plus you can use xinqiu in the team and put him last to the rotation and use E before switching back to ayato so that ayato gets the particles and will have more than enough energy to actuvate ng shimenawa. HoD and glads is for those who cant think. Shimenawa is still the best artifacts for him. Its a matter of strategy. Exactly my point.
Nice job on the video, can you test how much damage he's ult does by itself with these artifact sets, aswell as another vid with ayatos ult while attacking with his elemental skill with all four artifact sets. That will be good to see which will be best overall damage. Thanks for the side to side comparisons.
@@georgesr8979 The thing is, the burst damage should be better with 18% ATK bonus from EoO and SR set if you use Hydro% goblet. The difference is not big though. Edit: Not true for some weapons and easy to overcome with some ATK% team buffs. Then HoD is better.

@@andrewjamez9741 Yh, you right. I totally forgot that crit damage doesn't go in the same bracket with the elem% dmg in the damage formula. Instead it multiplies the whole outgoing damage. Still, I checked, and what I said about burst dmg can be true for some weapons, however it can be easily beat with some team ATK% buffs. Yes, I consider atk% sands of eon, feather, some atk% and atk substats and so on. Mistsplitter Reforged needs some better ATK% party buffs for HoD to be better at burst dmg since it can give even 40% elemental damage. Don't forget that elem% dmg fall within "DMG% bonus" category. So it sums with other DMG% bonuses like from some talents, from 2pc-Noblesse, 4pc-Emblem, 4-pc Shimenawa, 4pc-Glad, weapons like Serpent's Spine (even 40% at R5), The Catch, Lion's Roar, Dragon's Bane, The Alley Flash etc. Basically any bonus that has "DMG" in description and it's value unit is "%".

Simply because the domain its in also has Blizzard Strayer, which will be useful for Rosaria and Chonyun. 2 birds...1 stone.
Imagine we need gacha for a character, gacha for artifact drops, gacha for substat roll, gacha for spiral abyss buff card, and now even the artifact has gacha for dmg bonus 💀💀💀 This game has insane RNG in everything, only luck people would survive.

It's pretty much the same. Others sets gives you atk% and it boost your burst too so at the end of the day everything is fine. I run HoD because I have some really nice pieces but that's all.
it might look like echoes got a lot of dmg, but keep in mind that the rng is really a pain. He had to do it 10 times to get a consistant number. Gladiator/shin is the easiest to far since you probably already have a good set lying around.
to add a small detail, not only it is rng, but also ping reliant, so if u are playing ayato on a orange/red ping daily basis, that set is bad, better go with HoD/shime/Glad instead

If you are gonna use shimenawa with your since it buffs ayato. You will need to burst then yunjin skill for particles then back to ayato so you can use the 4pcs set of shime. Because the passive wont proc if you dont have energy.
Great video! Unfortunetely I lost my 50/50 so I can't test him out. Could you please made similar video with flat DMG bonus from Yun Jin's burst? I made some calculations that show that Shimenawa's Reminiscence set will outshine the new EoO set if you had nice flat DMG bonus from other sources (like Yun Jin burst). Also I think that the results will be more reliable if the new set was tested out with the same crit substats, without food buff.
I feel that's where the big drop from the new set comes from All other sets are constant, while the new one, you can; Not crit and not proc = Not good Crit and not proc =Not Good Not Crit and proc = Not good Crit and Proc = very good And even when you make them all %100 crit, it still didn't shine over the others
Echoes will allow you to use your burst more often which contributes to his atk speed which in turn offers more dmg. Shimenawa will be good if you are more reliant or his e.
@@drogadepc well since Shimenawa will cost you some energy from your burst so it is more reliable when you are only spamming his e skill because you always will want some energy on his burst. Echos on the other hand will offer less dmg then the Shimenawa set but since it doesn’t cost burst energy you will be able to use his burst. Keep in mind that his burst will increase his normal atk speed high will result in some extra dmg. Hope that helped this is my reasoning so it could be disapproved.
His burst dosent give him attack speed it gives him normal attack dmg (20% at lvl 10), it was changed since the beta, currently best way to increase his attack speed are Yun Jin c6 and Jean c4
Really, thank you very much, I'm very dense with the formulas and this comparison helps me to get an idea how to equip Ayato for when I have him (I have 120 saved rolls to date), as well as understand that all damage bonuses ( as normal attacks / charged / Element / damage inflicted) are added at the same point, so the more buff of this type you have with your teammates, the less efficient the shimenawa would be (and without neglecting how said set consumes a lot of energy pd: sorry for my inglish I'm not native speaker
Im currently using gladiator sets for him and my damage is 6k-8k and im already fine with it. I really dont wanna waste my resins to artifacts that has the same results. Lol. So as of the moment im building my other 4s characters
This is an excellent comparison. Even if the stats aren't exact mirrors of each other (nearly impossible to do) by the laws of average the damage is quite similar. It seems the Echoes set gives the best results by a small margin. However, if you don't need the other set, it would be more resin efficient to use the other options. Both Hearth of Depth and Shimenawa are farmed in domains where the other set works for more characters, specially the latter with Emblem set. Or if you already have good Gladiator pieces, they work very well too. I will personally go for the HoD set, as I also have Childe and Ganyu, better artifacts for either one while farming for Ayato is the most efficient use of my resin. I don't like that Shimenawa consumes energy due to Ayato's high burst cost.
Overall echoes is still better, just too much rng Shimenawa maybe higher but u will have rotation problem, workable but not recommed since u can carry another dps/sub to get more team damage via reaction and the buff HoD and gladi is a good stable set if u have a great set use it since farming echoes is inefficient
@@bebekoexd7537 Only the holder but ayato's burst give a buff for normal attacks so it's better to use burst before the elemental skill plus you lose 15 energy of your burst and if you don't have 15 energy and above you won't get the effect that's why Glad or Hod are much more stable and Echoes on the other hand is a whole annoying rng itself unless you have xiao and ayato then both of them can benefit in that domain

Actually, that 18% ATK 2 piece bonus from the new set or Shimenawa's should give you a little more burst damage. I wasn't lucky enough to get Ayato but it's easy to calculate. I assume you equip elemental goblet. Edit: true for some weapons, depends one substats, easy for HoD to overtake with a small ATK% buff.
@@tomaszhachula4171 it's easy to get ATK from different sources (Bennett, nobles,pyro resonance.etc) the 15% hydro DMG bonus is really good and hard to get, unless you use kazuha,the hydro DMG bonus is better than ATK%
I use him with gladiator set with stats - 2.3k atk, 22k hp, 142er, crit 72/210%, talent 1/8/8 with jade cutter. I have a good shimenesawa set which gives me 90/230 crit but i loose er and burst dmg. He does 10k-11k per hit average but sometimes he hit 12k-14k. And all of this is just piled up hardwork not money.
I already have a solid glad set with like 68 crit and 210 crit damage if we include the weapon. Its nice to know that you can kinda just passively get him the glad set without really wasting any resin, I thought the HoD would have boosted his damage alot with the extra 15 water damage but I'm glad its a little better to have the 18 percent attack from glad instead. Happy to see how artifact friendly ayato is
Same to me I also got him the glad set instead coz it was easier for me to get and reroll and since I'm unlucky on getting good HoD pcs not even good Blizzard for Ayaka. Lucky enough my Ayato made it to 2k atk 62/220 crit 120 em and I'm happy with it :D
I literally have the perfect shimenawa set and just waiting for his next banner release on wednesday. Also putting blackcliff long sword on him, kinda excited not gonna lie.
This was helpful. Glad i put him on gladiators. Just the overal best it looks since no energy recharge drawback and the dmg isn’t that dif from shimenawa.
Because I completely forgot about the new artifacts, I built the shimenawa set with the amenoma sword. If the sword is refined at least once you can counter the energy loss from the set. All you have to do now is make sure your artifacts bring about a good crit rate/dmg ratio and atk% and hp% 😅😭 I have a pretty good set albeit not the best and I was still surprised by how well my ayato does as a sub dps!
For real, my inner hoarder is so satisfied to finally have a proper use for those amazing double crit Glad pieces I just randomly accumulated from world bosses.

If people find it difficult to use 4p Shim on Ayato, you can start of the rotation with his burst then swap to another character until you return back to him where he will have enough ER to activate the Shim proc, due to his passive skill after lvl 70. Hope this information helps people who maybe confused over the set.
Shimenawa it’s obiously stronger, but you net some ER to cast his ultimates too, 20k/Slash, Xinqiu C4, Ningguan (Book 3*), Zhongli, that it’s a consistence team with a lot of damage Unitarget, BTW your video is amazing bro, no cap
so uh...Because I didn't have any amazing pieces-that weren't already in use-for any of the older sets, I started farming for Echoes. right now i have 3 pieces for him (two of which god must've handcrafted himself. great video! my personal tip for those with jade cutter is to ideally run HOD, this is because jade cutter already gives you so much atk% the hydro% from the 2 piece would benefit your ayato a lot more compared to atk% from 2 piece glad. jade cutter + 2 piece atk% + substats + potential supports would mean diminishing returns on atk%. otherwise i hope everyone has a great time building ayato!
I have four piece HoD on him with The Black Sword (no refinements), I’m not sure if this is ideal? Should I do Echos instead?
@@gooeyribs4128 the black sword with 4 piece HOD is perfectly fine, i also don’t suggest farming for echoes if you’re an older player as it’s more likely for you to have better HOD/glad pieces, however if you want the other set for xiao for example then go ahead and farm the echoes domain. otherwise black sword with hod is good!
It's pretty much the same in dmg comparison. Just use whichever has the best substat. My 4 glad hits harder then my 4 hod bcuze of substat.
Same argument for echoes tho cuz it scales based on your atk
Maybe one day I will get HOD for him but for now I got 80%crit with, 205crit damage, 70em, and 140% energy recharge. This is with gladiator set.
My easiest solution for Shimenawa is two part:
- Use Fischl
- The rotation starts with Ayato Burst > switch to other characters > back to Ayato and do his Elemental Skill slashes.
Use ayato ult before the rotation and you get the 15 energy by the time you switch back to ayato to activate the shimenawa passive. Plus you can use xinqiu in the team and put him last to the rotation and use E before switching back to ayato so that ayato gets the particles and will have more than enough energy to actuvate ng shimenawa. HoD and glads is for those who cant think. Shimenawa is still the best artifacts for him. Its a matter of strategy.

Nice job on the video, can you test how much damage he's ult does by itself with these artifact sets, aswell as another vid with ayatos ult while attacking with his elemental skill with all four artifact sets. The HoD set was just slightly worse in terms of substats than the others. It should perform similar to Gladiator.
Also the Ult dmg should be Better with HoD
@@georgesr8979 The thing is, the burst damage should be better with 18% ATK bonus from EoO and SR set if you use Hydro% goblet. The difference is not big though.
Edit: Not true for some weapons and easy to overcome with some ATK% team buffs. Then HoD is better.
@@tomaszhachula4171 nope, attacks stats have higher diminishing returns because they can be obtained by alot of sources (Substats, main stats, sets, buffs, resonance, etc) while elem%dmg only has goblet and kazuha
@@andrewjamez9741 Yh, you right. I totally forgot that crit damage doesn't go in the same bracket with the elem% dmg in the damage formula. Instead it multiplies the whole outgoing damage. Still, I checked, and what I said about burst dmg can be true for some weapons, however it can be easily beat with some team ATK% buffs. Yes, I consider atk% sands of eon, feather, some atk% and atk substats and so on. Mistsplitter Reforged needs some better ATK% party buffs for HoD to be better at burst dmg since it can give even 40% elemental damage.
Don't forget that elem% dmg fall within "DMG% bonus" category. So it sums with other DMG% bonuses like from some talents, from 2pc-Noblesse, 4pc-Emblem, 4-pc Shimenawa, 4pc-Glad, weapons like Serpent's Spine (even 40% at R5), The Catch, Lion's Roar, Dragon's Bane, The Alley Flash etc. Basically any bonus that has "DMG" in description and it's value unit is "%".

HoD is the best. This set give you a buff in the elemental and in the ultimate. My Ayato has this set and his damage is amazing.
Yeah I'm currently running HoD also. But I think I should replace on of the main values with Hydro Damage bonus I think.
It's pretty much the same.
Others sets gives you atk% and it boost your burst too so at the end of the day everything is fine.
I run HoD because I have some really nice pieces but that's all.

it might look like echoes got a lot of dmg, but keep in mind that the rng is really a pain. He had to do it 10 times to get a consistant number.
Gladiator/shin is the easiest to far since you probably already have a good set lying around.
to add a small detail, not only it is rng, but also ping reliant, so if u are playing ayato on a orange/red ping daily basis, that set is bad, better go with HoD/shime/Glad instead

If you are gonna use shimenawa with your since it buffs ayato. You will need to burst then yunjin skill for particles then back to ayato so you can use the 4pcs set of shime. Because the passive wont proc if you dont have energy.

Great video! Unfortunetely I lost my 50/50 so I can't test him out. Could you please made similar video with flat DMG bonus from Yun Jin's burst? I made some calculations that show that Shimenawa's Reminiscence set will outshine the new EoO set if you had nice flat DMG bonus from other sources (like Yun Jin burst). Also I think that the results will be more reliable if the new set was tested out with the same crit substats, without food buff.

Not crit and not proc = Not good
Crit and not proc =Not Good
Not Crit and proc = Not good
Crit and Proc = very good
And even when you make them all %100 crit, it still didn't shine over the others

Echoes will allow you to use your burst more often which contributes to his atk speed which in turn offers more dmg. Shimenawa will be good if you are more reliant or his e.
How so?
@@drogadepc well since Shimenawa will cost you some energy from your burst so it is more reliable when you are only spamming his e skill because you always will want some energy on his burst. Echos on the other hand will offer less dmg then the Shimenawa set but since it doesn’t cost burst energy you will be able to use his burst. Keep in mind that his burst will increase his normal atk speed high will result in some extra dmg. Hope that helped this is my reasoning so it could be disapproved.
His burst dosent give him attack speed it gives him normal attack dmg (20% at lvl 10), it was changed since the beta, currently best way to increase his attack speed are Yun Jin c6 and Jean c4

Really, thank you very much, I'm very dense with the formulas and this comparison helps me to get an idea how to equip Ayato for when I have him (I have 120 saved rolls to date), as well as understand that all damage bonuses ( as normal attacks / charged / Element / damage inflicted) are added at the same point, so the more buff of this type you have with your teammates, the less efficient the shimenawa would be (and without neglecting how said set consumes a lot of energy

Im currently using gladiator sets for him and my damage is 6k-8k and im already fine with it. I really dont wanna waste my resins to artifacts that has the same results. Lol. So as of the moment im building my other 4s characters
This is an excellent comparison. Even if the stats aren't exact mirrors of each other (nearly impossible to do) by the laws of average the damage is quite similar.
It seems the Echoes set gives the best results by a small margin. However, if you don't need the other set, it would be more resin efficient to use the other options. Both Hearth of Depth and Shimenawa are farmed in domains where the other set works for more characters, specially the latter with Emblem set. Or if you already have good Gladiator pieces, they work very well too.
I will personally go for the HoD set, as I also have Childe and Ganyu, better artifacts for either one while farming for Ayato is the most efficient use of my resin. I don't like that Shimenawa consumes energy due to Ayato's high burst cost.
Overall echoes is still better, just too much rng
Shimenawa maybe higher but u will have rotation problem, workable but not recommed since u can carry another dps/sub to get more team damage via reaction and the buff
HoD and gladi is a good stable set if u have a great set use it since farming echoes is inefficient

@@bebekoexd7537 Only the holder but ayato's burst give a buff for normal attacks so it's better to use burst before the elemental skill plus you lose 15 energy of your burst and if you don't have 15 energy and above you won't get the effect that's why Glad or Hod are much more stable and Echoes on the other hand is a whole annoying rng itself unless you have xiao and ayato then both of them can benefit in that domain

Actually, that 18% ATK 2 piece bonus from the new set or Shimenawa's should give you a little more burst damage. I wasn't lucky enough to get Ayato but it's easy to calculate. I assume you equip elemental goblet.
Edit: true for some weapons, depends one substats, easy for HoD to overtake with a small ATK% buff.

I use him with gladiator set with stats - 2.3k atk, 22k hp, 142er, crit 72/210%, talent 1/8/8 with jade cutter. I have a good shimenesawa set which gives me 90/230 crit but i loose er and burst dmg. He does 10k-11k per hit average but sometimes he hit 12k-14k. And all of this is just piled up hardwork not money.

I already have a solid glad set with like 68 crit and 210 crit damage if we include the weapon. Its nice to know that you can kinda just passively get him the glad set without really wasting any resin, I thought the HoD would have boosted his damage alot with the extra 15 water damage but I'm glad its a little better to have the 18 percent attack from glad instead.

Same to me I also got him the glad set instead coz it was easier for me to get and reroll and since I'm unlucky on getting good HoD pcs not even good Blizzard for Ayaka. Lucky enough my Ayato made it to 2k atk 62/220 crit 120 em and I'm happy with it :D

Because I completely forgot about the new artifacts, I built the shimenawa set with the amenoma sword. If the sword is refined at least once you can counter the energy loss from the set. All you have to do now is make sure your artifacts bring about a good crit rate/dmg ratio and atk% and hp% 😅😭
I have a pretty good set albeit not the best and I was still surprised by how well my ayato does as a sub dps!
Finally I can use my Gladiator set that has been sitting in my inventory since AR45
For real, my inner hoarder is so satisfied to finally have a proper use for those amazing double crit Glad pieces I just randomly accumulated from world bosses.

If people find it difficult to use 4p Shim on Ayato, you can start of the rotation with his burst then swap to another character until you return back to him where he will have enough ER to activate the Shim proc, due to his passive skill after lvl 70. Hope this information helps people who maybe confused over the set.

Shimenawa it’s obiously stronger, but you net some ER to cast his ultimates too, 20k/Slash, Xinqiu C4, Ningguan (Book 3*), Zhongli, that it’s a consistence team with a lot of damage Unitarget, BTW your video is amazing bro, no cap
so uh...Because I didn't have any amazing pieces-that weren't already in use-for any of the older sets, I started farming for Echoes.
right now i have 3 pieces for him (two of which god must've handcrafted himself. Not to brag lol) but after seeing this showcase I'm a little unsure if Echoes is something i should stick with because of its inconsistency.
