I've been following the Wheelman Pro for sometime now. This is the first farmer review of the system that I've seen. Looking forward for more of your thoughts on the system.
Different Strokes for different folks but I think it's doing an awesome job that is a great system that's for sure and the 4640 was getting down man always a big thumbs up bro you have a good one to stay safe man 👍👍👊👊👊👊
The trick on chisel plowing I learned from a friend's dad was to know your turn-around width and then run one pass that far inside the field, do inside that then run it over as you did the outside perimeter at the end, it keeps your edges from cupping with the drafted dirt.
Good to see someone in field still haven't done nothing in south central Illinois only had 20% chance of rain Tuesday may 14th and got 2 more tenths and theres water standing again
We just installed the wheelman flex on out 4640 for planting, works great the flex allows you to move it to a different tractor, great tool for smaller farms and affordable, only cost me about ten bucks an acre
@@Cordell- when we got it it was just called the wheelman flex, they had a bunch of updates since, it is decent, if you are comparing it to the big guy with gps mapping you will be disappointed, it has its purpose and it works for that, hope that helps you haha
@@AandSfarms2010 I'm using five finger autosteer right now, so anything is an upgrade. Ive used Deere systems for my boss planting and tillage, but I priced a system for my 4240 and its around $15k. Almost the price I paid for the tractor! Is the wheelman within 10 inches or so accurate? Thatd be good enough for me
We have it on a 4640, works great on that tractor just need to mess with the settings for sensitivity, works great on flat ground, almost perfect, and I would say yes within 10 inches on hilly ground, we plant with 12 row planter and combine with 8 row header freehand with no issues at all
Ryan I really like your channel I find it educational and very knowledgeable and helpful and entertaining as well. I like the way that you present the way you do things around your farm 🚜. Cause I'm very interested in getting into agriculture. If it wasn't for the American farmers I think that our country would be in big time trouble. Thank you and I will keep watching 👀😊☺.
The movie you quoted at the 8:20 ish mark is "For Richer or Poorer" starring Tim Allen and Kirstie Alley. I think it's an underrated, and somewhat obscure classic. "Molly and Mae, I heard em in the barn talkin about ya. ' Oh that Big John, what a STUD! High in the rear and check out his pasterns!' " "Be cohesive, or be adhesive" "We could tell you needed help, yourselves. But mostly... Planting season" I could go on for days!!!
Who needs farmers now? :) But really this will be a good thing for when you do night work.I do not think I could do that, I would need to be driving. Some very cool shots.
Very interesting video Ryan about this Autosteer device, back here in the UK a few of us use Greenstar. But on our farm because of our fields we don't have Autosteer on our tractors
Hey Ryan, had a International disc chisel just like yours only it had 10 shanks. They work really good...I didn't have the twisted shovels though. Just straight points. Nice video!
I've been looking at your story on Snapchat and I thought the area looked kinda familiar. I found out that you're from potosi and the feeling of seeing back home when the Marine Corp has you stuck in Texas is undescribable...
We were thinking about buying one of those for our 4650 but unfortunately they are not shipping them up here to Canada yet so we ended up getting another Trimble 750
Ryan, I have a dream of starting a farm. I want to start with just doing beef cattle and hay farming. What size of tractor would you recommend as an all around for this type of operation??
need a bigger chisel plow when the money is there of course. but look like a ant trying to farm a lot of acres with that plow! great job as always on your videos especially that drone footage awesome view!!
We don’t do a lot of tillage work with our 4640 but if we were to get a gps system for it we would need one that could do circles with the system. Otherwise might be a good one for our farm.
Hey Ryan! Could you make a video at some point about the economics of renting ground for hay production as opposed to cash crops? How do you cash-flow it if you aren't selling the hay?
You western farmers and auto steer I enjoy my good old Pennsylvania gps. Aka a tree in the other side of the field. Even tho most of my neighbors are guys with 8rs and we got 3010s 4020s And 4640 so it works 😂
I normally AB the fence line and come back on mine self and shift it over like 2ft so it over laps abit to make up for my sitting driving and the fence not being straight
How does it do if your have something to manually steer around in the middle of a pass such as a tile inlet, tree, etc. Will it hold your A-B line or does it match the last pass?
Depends whether you’re running an A-B line or using adaptive curves. If we were running A-B we’d steer around it then the next pass would shut the rows off when they go over the last pass
Ryan’ I noticed that (on some passes) you chiseled through the drainage swales...and sometimes you lifted? Not sure if I observed this correctly. I know nothing about contour techniques, so could you quickly explain why you chiseled some of the swales? I assume after a short while the swales smooth out for effective drainage? Probably dumb questions, but hey... I’m curious :) Great vid, by the way. You have a knack for visual story-telling. Awesome!
Thanks! In some spots where the 4640 was struggling in the alfalfa or waterways I’d pick it up to keep going on my pass so I could come back from another direction and hit the waterways or difficult spots a few times.
@@HowFarmsWork Yeah was curious about chiseling the waterways... BIL would have my butt if I did that LOL:) BUT, if you're establishing a hay meadow and don't intend to go around the contours, then it's probably a good idea to work up the waterways anyway-- over time dirt tends to pile up in the approaches to the waterway when you lift tillage tools over the grass strip, which can make it kinda rough for a hay mower to cross.... work it all down and call it good... :) Later! OL J R :)
Is this system capable of keeping up with a high speed disk running at 10-12 mph? I run a vertical tillage tool on the 3 point of a 2-tracked Cat tractor.
Nice video Ryan. What are you planting on this field, once that is done, does the soil needs to rest or is there something else before the actual planting. 😉👍👍👍👍👍
is spring alfalfa better than planting alflafa in august september..we always plant alfalfa in september here in ky...always had a great stand...in spring...
Question? You just chiseled 25 acres. How long did it take you to cover this ground? Will the 82 and VT go faster, same or?? No matter how old you are, playing in the dirt is fun.
That is what I was wondering. You said it saves on overlap, which I’m guess you mean saves fuel, time, and wear and tear on equipment. Yet you still do those silly figure 8ish turns instead of skipping a row and making an nice efficient turn...head scratcher.
Yes I don’t understand all the figure 8 turns seems to me it’s a waste of time instead of leaving enough room on the ends to turn around and then do all ends last
A thing of beauty that Wheelman Pro...wow!
Thank you, Ditiro!
Perfect moisture content...the ground just crumbles.

theres just something about watching dirt fly thats so satisfying!
also i like how you edited this video...good style
Another amazing video! Ryan, absolutely love the aerial shots your getting! Spring has definitely sprung! Stay safe out there this planting season!

Now that’s pretty nice inexpensive way too keep track. Sure can tell the difference. Glad the sun is out and your in the field
Great drone footage man! Great video work all around, actually and crystal clear video. Good job!
Great video Ryan. Nothing looks or smells nicer than freshly worked Earth
Old girl doing work today! I like that Wheelman unit. Does a pretty nice job!
Very interesting video, really like the 1080p60 video quality 👍
That was a pretty good ending " Heading for Greener Pastures " not sure if that was to intended to be tongue in cheek, but it made me smile
WheelMan Pro? Awesome!!! I would love for that to be on my farm!! That looks amazing! Love your vids!
The movie line you quoted was from , For Richer or Poorer.
I never grow tired of the sights and sounds of the 4640
love your videos. I'm starting a new drinking game. everytime you mix a metaphor I'm taking a shot.

Hiya Tyson ... Yah, that looks like a great retrofit device for older equipment which MANY farmers have in North America.
I don’t think their available yet in Canada got to check it out
"It's pretty straight forward."
Literally!
🤣
Love the old school machines
That looks like a very simple auto-guidance system. It’s nice not having to have a monitor and just using a phone or iPad.
My favorite tractor of all time! Great vid!
Love your videos. They are more realistic.

Instead of making those large sweeping turns you make, why not do alternating passes?
@Logan Vannette he has a wheelman GPS guiding his tractor.
I’d say that makes flying that drone easier at least lol
Damn that thing is awesome!!!!
Looks great from the air! Love that tractor #WorldsOkayestFarmer
Awesome drone shots!
Fantastic!
The Wheelman looks awesome. Sent them a message as I would love to auto steer my John Deere 1025r.
Love when you use the 4640 my favorite
That’s sweet never heard of them before

The only thing you have to worry about on big fields is waking up at the far end to turn around!
Great stuff Ryan, Your drone footage is unreal clear:)
Need one for my craftsman 42” lawnmower.
Love the Deere!

Hi Chase. The Wheelman Pro and Flex come standard with Pivot (Circles), AB Straight, A + Heading, and Contour. And we're working on more!
Cool device but, can you setup lane skipping on it? Looks like you are wasting quite some time on the headland.
Was wounding that!
Hi ignafiltro! With coverage mapping in the Whirl app, you can see where you’ve been and see which guidance line you need to turn into.
Cool stuff!
Love the video🙂
Movie quote is from "For richer or poorer" had Tim Allen in it. Funny movie.
Ryan, could your tractors pull a wider chisel plow? Is something like that on the wish list?
The 82 could, but the 46 is pretty maxed out. She has plenty of power but not enough weight
Great vid Ryan thanks..
Everyone needs a good wheelman!
Good video!👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Farming is good:)
Really liked the drone footage. 😎.

I’ll have to do that sometime this summer, I’ve got one coming out soon explaining why a truck will save us money in the long-run!
@@HowFarmsWork Looking forward to both. Thanks.
So dumb question is the Ag Leader still around for planting. Couldn’t you use it for tillage as well?
Great video as usual.
Wow!!!!!! Nice

Does it support skipping passes? That's where autosteer comes in great for making the turns much easier, especially with a very narrow tool.
It does, however as I said, it really outshines other units that are on WASS in continuous passes
