Thank you! Seth Thomas also makes clocks where the hour hand is attached to a sleeve that can only be accessed once the mechanism is removed. Until you figure that out, one can go crazy trying to pry off the hour hand.
Many Lux clock cases were made by "Syroco", (Syracuse Ornamental Co.) in business from 1908-2005. " Syroco wood is a specialized wood pulp material that was created from a combination of ingredients (wood pulp and flour, to name a few). Thanks to their specific composition, the Syroco company could press the material into compression molds, which would solidify into shapes that resembled carved wood."
Hi! I recently restored my first Keebler mini cuckoo (similar to this one) and have 3 more to restore. These are my first ever clock restorations! Cleaning the face is a bit tricky because of the material composition. Still trying to find the perfect trick.
I find that a qtip dipped in warm water with some Dawn dish detergent to be a very gentle way to clean. Test an area, if it seems the paint is coming off just use warm water. Thanks for watching!
What a fascinatingly-different clock. I've never seen an hour hand arrangement like that - thanks for showing this cute clock!

Thanks for that. The material felt weird to me, not quite composite, not plastic, but not wood either.
