I'm using a Coleman 425 on my small boat. Doesn't have the heat benefit but having two burners, easy to get parts and fuel and no propane canisters are all pluses. Thanks for sharing this video,. I learned something new.
Travel By Water - that brings up a good topic which is fire prevention and fire fighting. If cooking on board, ensure to have fire extinguishers, fire and CO2 alarms. A fire blanket is also a good investment.
Good job on this heat pal, I have been looking around for additional options for heating a tent. Came across this and watched your video,. I appreciate you taking the time to make this video,. We also subbed your channel. Looking forward to seeing more from you channel. Have a blessed week my friend. Dale
Good review. Thanks. Just got one. Looking forward to using it. I did hear depends on type of alcohol used but some alcohol burns cleaner than other types. Do you know which type alcohol burns the cleanest?
No I don't. When I first had the stove I bought the expensive fuel branded as alcohol stove fuel. But it is hard to find and expensive. Now I buy methyl hydrate from the paint section at the hardware store. It's about half the pice and I really dont see any difference.
Where can I find a stove with heater for indoor heating and cooking? Seems I seen one recall the number was 5100 Marine Device but when I had done the search all were sold out.
Unfortunately Dometec stopped making the entire Origo line including the 5100. I am not sure where to get one now. Could try classifieds for used ones maybe.
Do you or can you burn methyl hydrate. You can find it a walmart and Canadian tire and most hardware stores in the 1L or 4L jugs and it's pretty cheap. I use it for my pop can alcohol stove for ultra light camping
Yes, I try to use methyl hydrate most of the time because its the cheapest. But will use what ever is available if I need to. Have bought the alcohol stove fuel a few times. Its expensive and I cant see any difference what so ever.
Does it work very well as a heater? I have the origo 3000 dual and it is basically the same except the bucket on top but their are now these stainless versions you can buy that clip onto the top of camping stoves and work in a similar way to this bucket. Tempted to buy one to try but unsure if it will heat at all. Boat is well ventilated with open vents on companionway door and 3 x powered vents in roof. Just to extend the sailing season here in the UK. Winter can get down & below 0 deg C but normally hovers around 5degc mark.
It works decently as a heater in a small space. As you can see my sailboat cabin is very small. However, I have used it on larger sailboats to warm a single cabin. Having said that, if you already have the 3000, you might be better off just putting a cast iron pot on your current stove, leave the stove on low and enjoy the radiated heat from the pot.
Hey guys I’m looking for a safe heater to heat a small room just in case these gas prices go like quadruple during the winner here in Michigan. Is there anything I can buy that I can he a small portion of the basement just in case that would be safe and that I would not die of carbon monoxide poisoning again no power?
Titus Tiger I agree with your comment, I dont think I mentioned it in the video, but maybe should have, I dont use it under way on the small boat. I did once to try it out and decided it was too risky.
@@travelbywater9378No carbon monoxide but Carbon dioxide. Still needs some air circulation or CO2 will replace the amount of oxygen in the air which would make one feel unwell eventually but unlike carbon monoxide it isn’t poisonous, high levels of carbon monoxide CO are lethal in a very short time.

tdk1246 an alcohol fire is a lot easier to put out than a naptha fire too, if it gets away from you. Glad you enjoyed :)

Alcohol fuel is much safer, it can be extinguisher even with water and does not explode
@@travelbywater9378 important point. Its the main reason im considering it for overnight heating with Co & smoke alarm

Great, I do lots of little outdoor living tricks, I hope some are of use.

@@travelbywater9378 does the methyl hydrate burn clean or is there a risk of being more toxic?
@@welcometoreality3450 seems to burn pretty clean. Just a slight sweet smell. I use it in a vented space.
Denatured alcohol burns the cleanest.
They put poison in some alcohol so it can't be drank. that alcohol will give you a headache if burned in a closed boat.

cool little stove.
Thank you, it rally does a great job.
they don't sell them anymore, and yes, coffee good!
I know, what a bummer that they don't make them any more. Trangia makes a pretty good alcohol stove as well, they are still making stoves.

No, I don't think it would be safe in the basement of a home. Good Ventilation is a must with open flame heat sources.
Nice!! 💕
how hot does that bucket get?
The bottom stays cool to the touch, but the top and sides can get pretty hot, probably hot enough to burn bare skin if one is not careful.
I was looking at it and wondered if you had to grab it because of it was tipping or the boat was tipping, seemed like it was dangerous

have you tried using an unpluged crock pot on top to slow cook?
I have used a cast iron dutch oven on it. Same idea. Works nicely.
@@travelbywater9378 do you have a Co detector? does it go off when using this after a lil while?
Great demo!
Thanks :)
How much is the fuel
I pay about $10 cdn for 4 liters/ 1 gallon which will last me about a month of regular use.
2nd review I have seen and both were positive. I love coffee! Lol
They really are great little stoves. Portable, reliable, safe.
@@travelbywater9378 thank you!
Nice stove. Thanks and take care.
Thanks :)
If anyone is looking to sell one of these, please respond here.
Can you use kerosene with this??
No, alcohol only, but alcohol is easy to find every where. You buy it in the paint section at virtually any hardware store.
Gases? It's not propane
