Hyundai TUCSON - Safety ratings detailed analysis

- Hyundai Tucson has got Zero and 3 stars in the latest LATIN NCAP safety test which is considered one of the most strict protocols as no other car than VW Taos has managed to score 5 stars lately.
Tucson's build was rated as stable and solid but points are deducted mainly because of the absence of 6 airbags in the base variant, absence of SBR in the rear seats, wrong anchor points positioning for ISOFIX as per LATIN NCAP, middle lap belt in the 2nd row seat, ESC safety assist feature not mandatory and absence of AEB (Autonomous Emergency Braking) as standard. Other than that, pedestrian safety points are deducted too because of marginal safety in the upper leg area. This has resulted in 3 stars ratings despite car providing good amount of safety to adult passengers and child.

I also booked tucson at first i was confused about disparities btw euro ncap and latin ncap results , i also thought there is somthing wrong with latin cars and same would be the case in india but like you i also read the full results paper from both euro and latin ncap and also did some research on latin ncap’s scoring process and found very satisfactory results….i thaught why isn’t anybody making things clear today i found your video everything was explained in detail loved your content 👍🏻👍🏻

Those who have gone properly through crash test results and Latin ncap norms only they can understand that Tucson is safe and well built car and what goes wrong with safety techs and slight incorrect CRS postion and pedestrain leds to cut in marks otherwise nothing goes wrong with the car 💯

Tucson is a very safe car since it’s structure is made of Advanced high strength steel. Also in 2022 it was tested by IIHS and received Top Safety Pick+ award.
The reason why it received only 3 stars in Latin Ncap is because according to Latin Ncap it’s isofix placement was not appropriate and also there is no option to turn off airbags option. Hyundai Tucson is an excellent car with very good safety. Full stop!

Few days back there was an article by AAJTAK saying "Hyundai ki ye SUV hui fail ... GNCAP me laayi 0 rating"
the article also kept saying GNCAP and below they added the tweet from Latin NCAP to support their claim. 🤦♂
Sir people of our country are half witted, they don't even know diff bw GNCAP and LNCAP, forget explaining them AEB and other safety norms; that each NCAP has a different protocol. They will believe anything when that thing is said confidently. This tactic works from politics ... to when it comes to ruining a brand.

They are CKDs, imported from Korea, assembled in India. All good
to all those who wants to know ratings of made in India tucson so ley me tell you tucson is brought into the country via CKD (Completely Knocked Down) route and assembled locally manufacturing plant, not Made IN India like creata, verna! that is why is price is also bit high due to the tax for ckd in india !

Honest opinion on Tucson as I own both Tucson and Skoda Octavia, Tucson's build quality is no where near VW, Skoda automobiles. I met with one minor accident on Tucson and it resulted in massive damage and similar accident on my Skoda Octavia there was not even one dent, That speaks volumes about the build quality of VW Skoda group. The only advantage with Hyundai is ease of service and availability of spare parts which is not the case with VW/Skoda group.
Please buy Hyundai only if you are looking at ease of service and look else where if build quality and safety is a priority.

Reality is Indians hate Hyundai most of the reason is Tata is very close to this brand in sales numbers. Hyundai India should really work on their build quality in lower and mid segment cars.

Reality is people hate hyundai because they sale 5 star cars in abroad and 2-3 star cars in india not because of Tata.if hyundai sale 3 star cars in 20 lakh. Then it is legitimate question for first time premium car buyers why should they buy Tucson.why should they trust hyundai.they already lossing the trust of indian people.very few people will invest their 30-35 lakh on hyundai who have double standards for indian market.jeep compass is the main competitor of tucson.very less people will buy tucson over jeep compass because of trust issue.

i am 81 born and i have been very observative about cars and their tech ever since my childhood.. i have seen the era where ambassador had its monopoly and then maruti this monopoly shifted to maruti because we were a closed economy until the economic reforms of 91..
my point is thos who mock hyundia have a very poor knowledge of the evolution of automobile sector in India neither they are aware of the legacy of hyundai how a poor farmer child build this company after several failures and within a small time of 3 decades reached to the third position in the entire world in terms of sales leaving behind auto giants like ford, gm ,honda.
Talking of India hyundai was the only company which challenged the monopoly of maruti and was sucessfull in doing so.. i mean gadio mey features bhi hotey hey ye hyundai ney bataya middle class indians ko because until then maruti dint even had power windows in there cars ..
i10 had sunroof some 12 years back. and it was not just about features ... hyundai cars were premium , there engine were refined and reliable with low maintenance cost and the after sales and serve was impressive.. i would say hyundai is jack of all trades it will give reasonable level of every thing .. now some1 might find a 3 star rated car as unsafe while some may find it reasonable considering other factors too.. rest if only safty is major concern the buy a volvo .. Hyundai was 3rd in jd power survey of most reliable car brands in usa. This survey was conducted last year . Now how many of so called auto enthusiast have heard of JD power .. now why dont ppl talk of this ..
Indeed hyundai have degredad in terms of built quality but then every company have done so .. even vw cars are not that solid as they used to be 10 years back.. even marutis swift 1st generation had a good built. Lastly ncap rarings are not gospel indeed it has its significance but how a car performs during a real life accident is differnt from what is tested on a closed environment. Its same as someone scoring 80 out of 100 in a maths test but actually his aptitude must be far better then what he scored.

@@SunderdeepSingh right.. but what do you do then where you have to compete with a brand like maruti. and the auto secor is going through tough times where brands like ford and chevrolet had to pack up there bags from India.. its not a rocket science to score 5 star rating but it will shoot up the prices.. and hyubdai dont have the backing of brands like vw which can offord to sell there cars at losses.
talking of tata there cars are 5 star rated ,what about other issues .. talking of technology tata is still far behind mahindra , they just showcased their gdi engines in auto expo when will they bring them in cars noone knows.. on the other hand mahinda is manufacturing gdi engines since years there petrol xuv 300 is such a fun to drive car all credit to gdi.. and the diesel one is a rocket. other issues with tata is poor fit finish , rusting issues, and a pathetic after sales and service.and yes the resale is also poor. tata played so well in marketing there cars as the most safest cars while vw dint even require the ncap rating to declare itself as the most safest the same holds true with mahindra. point is you just cant take one point into consideration while buying a car yes for certain ppl that one point must be of utmost important but genrally you have to see other aspects as well and that when i say hyundai is jack of all trades it will give you reasonable level of every thing .

Hyundai played with the sentiments of an intelligent buyer. Let me explain, if this is the best and priciest of the Hyundai range in India, it should have given the best of features here. It does not make you feel special or proud if you buy a car like Tuscon for around 38 Lakhs and not get the following features, which is offered in cheaper and lower models of Hyundai:
(1) Paddle Shifters - Offered in Creta
(2) Air Purifier - Offered in Alcazar
(3) Sun Screen - Offered in Alcazar
(4) Alloy spare wheel is not offered in the diseal version - what a bummer.
(5) No USB C ports here, Creta has this
(6) No wireless apple car play or android auto
(7) No self parking - Offered in other countries
(8) Anemic engine
(9) Shockers make thud sound in harsh humps
(10) The signature grill of Tuscon will be copied by Creta and other lower models
(11) The samer infotainment screen is there in Creta and Alcazar
(12) All touch controls is a total useless decision
(13) Not offered in Manual Transmission
(1) ADAS offered here will soon be offered in Creta and Venue
